The worst thing that can be said about the GE Profile Mixer is that it's not a Kitchen Aid. And since Kitchen Aid just isn't what it used to be, and burns out, drops paint chips into batter, wobbles...... that's not a bad thing. While it is heavy (you won't be moving it around for storage), it does everything better than KA. And it has faster mixing speeds too. It is directly comparable to the KA 7 qt machine (not the 5 qt as in most reviews). It has a gimmicky AI app to guide you through pre-fab recipes to make your goodies, but I don't use it (prefer my own, thanks). But it has a cool scale for weighing your ingredients (great for bread), and a timer that will stop the mixer when done. It doesn't come in KA's fashion colors, but it works equally well or better, and it's slightly cheaper too. It's a win! ... show more

I really wanted to love this mixer. All the bells and whistles were very attractive. However, the auto sense did not work. the message was " something went wrong". then the scale wouldn't work. The mixing bowl is just too large for smaller batches, although 1 cup of butter is standard when making icing for a cake. The butter stuck to the side of the bowl and the paddle attachment wouldn't pick up the butter. I tried the whisk and what a mess. It's also inconvenient that the mixer doesn't tip backward. It's very difficult to scrape the sides of the bowl when the attachment is still on and bowl is in place, and if you take the attachment off it's very messy, then you need to remove the bowl to really get into scrape the sides. Huge dissapointment and now I have to pack it back up to return. Hard no on this product! ... show more

SOLID! SO HEAVY! Doesn't move a single bit when running, it's also powerful enough to make chinese style dough. I love it, it's just the "smart" features are not smart at all, if not stupid. I hope they will upgrade over the air later on

I consider myself a good home baker so I was super excited to get my hands on this GE Profile Smart Stand Mixer. Its is supposed to be a revolutionary addition to the kitchen. In the regard that it combines traditional mixing abilities with with cutting-edge smart-IOT-technology, I guess that is true. This appliance not only elevates your baking experience but also brings convenience to a whole new level. There is no question that the mixer boasts has a VERY powerful motor and a robust design. It is made with extremely heavy-duty cast steel.. better I would say than my 20yo KitchenAid mixer. There is no doubt that it is efficient and thorough in the mixing of ingredients. With various speed settings easily accessible from the dial controller, it can be used a wide range of recipes. I used it in making what I consider a very delicate meringues and then, two days later, heavy bread dough. Like the KitchenAide, it uses a planetary-gearing mixing action. This ensures that every inch of the bowl is reached by the implement, resulting in consistently well-mixed batters. But this is no thanks to the on-board software. I enabled the smart settings which are supposed to sense the feedback from the dough and adjust the mixer's torque and spin settings. I had to stil re-fold the dough a few times to get all the air out. So they say that it is these computers and sensors which set this mixer apart. There is a dedicated app, and I can control and monitor the mixer remotely. Ok, cool.... who's really going to walk away from a mixer stiring for a meringues for long time? Is it a game-changer for multitaskers? Maybe, if you make a lot of bread dough and other low-stress stuff which doesn't require a lot of attention. But for the experienced baker or gourmet cook? Nah. And those are the folks who have/are willing to spend the money on something like this. The app also provides access to a vast collection of recipes, each tailored to the user's capabilities. That's pretty cool I guess... the mixer seems to store data (in the app) about what kinds of recipes you choose to make and what the sensors dictate you need the mixer to do. These step-by-step instructions and notifications when it's time to move on to the next stage, can help you be a better cook... but will an amateur cook really be ready to shell out for this? I will say the built in scale is very cool... saves a lot of time on measuring. It also actually works with most of the KitchenAid attachments I already have. THat's a bonus! The sleek design of the mixer looks very sophisticated, no doubt. And coupled with its size and weight it looks great (and a little intimidating) sitting on a counter. Could this thing be more of a status symbol than a really valuable tool? I feel like this kind of thing is best for small home business baker. Someone who makes cookies for birthday parties, or lots of cake to sell on Facebook. It seems to exactly tap into the 'social media' needs of wealthy millennials. It certainly saves time on tested recipes... but for taste testing and 'artisanal' cooking, I'll stick to my KitchenAid. ... show more

This machine is powerful, and I anticipate excellent technical performance. After using it several times, I've found that the scale works well, but you need to press the button firmly. The timer also requires a similar level of pressure. Then you will lose the patient. The bowl is deep, so the stir stick will be hard to reach the bottom if you put a smaller amount in it. The sound is not comfortable to me when I turn it up faster. If you care about what I mentioned, you should consider others. ... show more
