  • Intuitive, easy, complete navigation
My truck got broken into and was stolen after owning a year, I immediately ordered a replacement . Ive used a lot of different GPS systems over the years on aircraft, boats, motorcycles and cars. This is a great all around on road gps for everyday traveling, commuting and long road trips. Even works good for gravel roads, logging roads etc. You can’t go wrong with this model. Easy to update, live traffic is accurate, routes, directions are easy to follow. Easy to divert course to gas stations, restaurants, rest areas, shopping, parks, points of interest, and many other things. Easy to get right back on route after taking a pit stop. I compare live traffic updates to Waze and get very similar results. Because my work is in heavy traffic everyday, and my wife or kids want to use the Garmin I usually use Waze. If I had to complain about this gps it would be that current locations of hidden police speed traps are not marked. I do like that Waze feature. Something Garmin should incorporate. It has common Garmin operating system but this one is a little more connected, a little more intuitive, a little more thorough and costs a little less. At least compared to any older models. Also, a good size for car windshields. We use it in a Ford Fiesta, For Taurus Wagon, and a Toyota Tundra. Works great in all. Touchscreen works great, like a modern phone and voice recognition works well, even over road noise. The power supply has a extra usb port and a axillary music plug to stream music from your phone into a older car’s auxiliary port in its audio system. Not much need for it in a modern car but pretty awesome in our 2012 Fiesta and 2008 Tundra. Our 2004 Taurus lacks a auxiliary input 😭 Used to use it on my road bike (sold the bike) and for a while on the dirt bike (replaced it with the Garmin Tread). Worked great on the road bike and pretty good on the dirt bike but for obvious reasons didn’t want to expose it to rain, mud and crashes. As far as navigation, it works almost everywhere there is some kind of a road. Gives immediate coordinates and nearest hospital and gas for emergency’s. (Dirt bikes have emergencies now and then) For the price, it’s hard to beat. It gets transferred to a lot of our vehicles regularly. Makes us wish we had one in every vehicle. Sick of the entire family fighting to use it. Lastly, waypoints I saved on other Garmin GPS’s over 10 years ago, seamlessly transferred over to this device, and any waypoint I save on this or any other Garmin I have transfers over. No information or waypoints are lost. Just update it now and then and all is saved and stored for future devices. Back to the beginning, I no longer save “HOME” as my address as the thieves that stole my last one technically know where I live now. Something to think about. Use your bosses/ex’es, mortal enemies, address’s for “HOME” instead. ... show more

  • Best screen out there
I use this primarily for delivery at work. The big screen and the ability to see for blocks around on my screen help me to navigate. Also I appreciate that it always tells me which street I'm on and which direction I'm going. The voice recognition is on par with Google, but it has a learning curve. There are frequent instances where you get better results if you tell it less. For example, if I say to go to xxx9 Prairie Parkway, it can't find it. But if I say xxx9 Prairie, it finds it, even though I'm not going to Prairie Street. Once you learn your way around the quirckiness of the interface, this product functions better than phone gps apps. ... show more

Have to say I didn't want to get this as I always use my phone gps while roadtripping but my wife talked me into it. Have used this for cpl months....this sucker is awesome!!! -Voice command works great! -History markers and detailed description (this makes roadtrips 10x better because it shows an "H" where historic event happend) -National Parks -Mobile app is super easy to use -Reroutes if there's an accident -Gives exact traffic delay minutes -Easy to use -Screen is just the right size(any bigger would be too big IMO) -Ton of options -Long plug-in cord -Shows speed limit and your speed -Turns off when you turn vehicle off (which is nice not to have to keep unplugging it) -Got reconditioned unit for half price and was basically brand new. I recommend this, definitely wish I would of got one years ago when we started taking 2week roadtrips. ... show more

  • OK Unit BUT......
In the past Garmin has made pretty decent GPS. Probably the best of a sketchy lot. But recently, their product has gone in the toilet. The actual guidance is pretty good. I also have an 86. The biggest problem Garmin has is that their mounts are junk. They won't stick to ANYTHING for long. I've even gone so far as to try to mount them with Velcro. The mount on the back of this unit stays on the unit, unlike the one on the 86, but it won't stick to anything for more than a few minutes. Part of the problem has to do with an extremely inflexible power cord that sticks out the bottom of the unit. This unit has developed a blue triangle in the middle of the screen, whether the unit is powered on or not (see photos). I haven't even used the unit yet, I only updated the maps. That's it. The best advice I can give you is DO NOT BUY ANY GARMIN UNIT UNTIL THEY FIGURE OUT HOW TO PROPERLY MOUNT IT IN YOUR CAR AND IT WILL STAY IN PLACE. ... show more

  • User friendly
Worked great on our latest trip. Only thing is we couldn’t change the route so we could take all the scenic roads but we made it work for us. Great for finding landmarks, restaurants, gas stations, etc

  • No
Am on the road and planned days of my trip around picking it up. Item was DOA. I now have to somehow print the return label, find a place to drop it off, pay postage and then wait up to 31 days for a refund. Super frustrating. Will not be trying refurbished again. Ugh.

  • Lack of instruction, complicated to set up.older models easy to set up.disappointed in garmin.
There should an option for people who need a simple gps. connect to computer with cable, it would not work with basecamp, but updated with garmin express. Get rid of bluetooth, wifi. Just got the car 66 gps. Not going to return until session with support. Overall a big disappointment. RB Queens NY

  • Not great for back roads
Lacks basic customizing of the home screen. Didn't show speed limits on most back roads I took. This was my first garmin unit and it just pales in comparison any of the Tom Toms when it comes to the features I prefer. That being said are four reboots it did run smooth and the voice commands work well. ... show more
