    • No Cell Tower Needed
I've used this for a few years now and it always gets me to my destination. It's large enough without being a distraction and the windshield mount, if you choose that method, does not take your eyes far off the road. The user interface is not great; touch screen only (no voice) and street names can be difficult with various abbreviations. However, it is much improved with the latest update which you can download for free. With an optional power cord upgrade it can pick up some traffic problems broadcast over local radio signals however that feature can't compare with a smart phone. BUT it operates off of GPS satellites so if you are going where cell signals are problematic or non-existent due to location or natural disaster it works fine off of its internally stored maps. It's meant for automotive use only since it uses a fair amount of power and can only run on its own for maybe 15 minutes. ... show more

Had reservations about buying this refurbished Garmin 65 unit, my concern was proven valid. After reading mostly positive reviews I thought I’d be ok. Used only twice locally, didn’t enter them as a destination. Went to the park where I pushed the home button. The display indicated a road that was two turns away. I ignored that. Later I went to my son’s house and pushed the home button. This time it indicated my next action was to turn right onto a road that was way past my destination when the correct action was to turn left. Two attempts and two fails. Am returning this refurbished unit, but will order a new Garmin. My old Garmin 1450 was awesome for many years, may it rest in peace! ... show more
