This unit is top shelf compared to the Rand McNally Overdryve 7 2pro or what ever its called. Build quality is solid compared to the RM. The software is more stable than the RM because the RM would freeze up and require a reboot on occasion and at the most inopportune times. But after using the Garmin 810 for a week I can tell a huge difference between the 2 units. The Garmin is faster, not buggy, more solid build AND the magnet mount is stronger than the refrigerator magnet mount on the RM. the Garmin mount will pull the unit out of your hand when setting it back on the mount. No more flying off the dashboard on bumpy roads! This thing is awesome if your a truck driver or even just traveling on vacation because you can select "car mode" if needed. Just get it and you won't regret it IMO... Safe travels errbody! 👍 ... show more

    • OTR 800 vs OTR 810
I have OTR 800 and after receiving OTR 810 - I decided to return the new one. 2 main things: 1. OTR 810 does not have automatic brightness adjustment. Seems like a small thing, but I really don’t want to reach and dig into settings to adjust the brightness every night. Also the new screen is a little dimmer than OTR 800. 2. Main reason to keep the old one. When adjusting/shaping the route by points, OTR 800 tells you if the new route is faster/slower and by how many miles and time. OTR 810 does not do that. You can still shape the route by points, but it doesn’t show you the difference in routes. I did update the firmware on the new one as well. Otherwise OTR 810 looks identical, new interface, menus and USB C charging/connecting port which is nice. Unfortunately, it’s one step forward-two steps back with a new one. ... show more

I love the size of this GPS. I travel by state and county permits, so the route shaping is the most important feature for me. However, every time I try and put in my destination and then create a route, it never works that simple. It always tries to make me “double back” and take the original route that it suggested. It’s a pain in the but!!! Better than nothing…. ... show more

I've owned garmin for as long as they have been out! The garmin truckers 700 series was the best one ever! I bought this one and I absolutely hate it! It's so out of date right out of the box! You have to download software! Then after paying nearly $800 for it! They want more $ for every little thing they advertise that it does! But they don't tell you it is a monthly subscription to have access to all that ! Just like the camera I have that's a garmin dash cam! All that's in the fine print! Don't waste your $ ... show more
