It increases pool temperature by 5 degrees in 4 days (for an 8, 000-gallon pool). Weve designed this above-ground solar pool heater with high-quality materials that will hold up against frequent exposure to the sun and outdoor elements, and with solar collectors. The curved design creates a maximum solar collecting area that captures free heat from the sun even as the position of the sun changes. The curve is made from a super-strong blow-molded plastic frame with a clear cover that locks in heat and deflects cooling winds. The curve easily connects to inground or above-ground pools, and multiple units may be joined for even more heat. This pool solar heater has adjustable and foldable legs, allowing the heater to be placed for maximum exposure to the sun, along with a clear cover that completely covers the panels to lock in heat. I bought this solar panel for a above ground 15 ft round pool. This thing has been great! After 1 day it was keeping the pool at 82 and by day 4 the pool was up to near 90! I will say that if you want to keep that heat though, you must have a solar cover so that your heat doesn't dissipate to badly at night. The last two days, we have had very little sun and cooler temps in low 70's and the pool was still sitting between 80 and 82. Our pump is also less than 1hp so the water flows through it at a pretty decent rate and still warms up nicely as it goes through the coils. Some things to note though The hoses are not long at all, so if the panel needs to be placed somewhere away from the pump in order to get full sun, you will need to buy longer hoses. We have an Intex sand filter and had to get creative at the local big box home improvement store to make adapters to accommodate longer hoses. No stars dinged for that though, because if you just used everything that came with it and you are able to put it right near the pump, you wouldn't have to do anything special. Mentioning this though because many people will be at the mercy of where the sun shines and you will most likely need longer hoses. Did I mention the sun.. because you will need full sun for the better part of the day if you want to see those pool temps rise. If your panel is only getting sun for a couple hours, your going to have a bad time. Our panel gets a full 8 hours of sun where it sits and our pump runs 6 to 8 hours during that time. Partly sunny days keep it at 82 to 86, full sun days get's our pool near 90, and cloudy days it can drop to 80 if overcast conditions last a few days. If you have a bigger pool, invest in more than one of these. One of these heats our 15 ft pool nicely, but I would think that if you have something bigger than a 18 ft or even a oval pool, 2 would be your best option. The longer the water stays in the coils, the more it will heat your pool. I know I mentioned it up top but it is worth mentioning again, you need to have a solar cover. A solar cover is not just for helping heat your pool, it's best use is for keeping that hard earned solar heated warmth in at night. You can easily lose like 5 degrees of heat at night without a cover. If you have this panel and it never seems to get warm or stay warm and you don't have a good solar cover, that's not the panel's fault... that is your fault for letting all that wonderful heat escape into the night. Overall, this panel delivers as long as you do your part to make sure it can do it's job.

After about a year pin holes form under the panel on both units I bought. They are not resting on the ground as I keep them on an angle using the adjustable legs. First summer no problems and it did work as it raised the temperature of the pool about 10 degrees. Late last summer one of the units developed a pin hole. I marked the hole, drained the water and used a soldering iron tip to manipulate the plastic and it sealed the hole. It did give way but I used the same method and was able to fix the hole. This summer both units developed larger holes to the extent that my water level in the pool was below the skimmer line. Good thing we were home and noticed or I would be looking for a new filter pump. Today I disconnected both. Basically they lasted a little short of three years however , this is the time of year when cooler nights in New England are beginning and warming the pool during the day is the only way that we will get in the pool in September. I would not recommend these. I had used the coil version of the solar heaters and those had the same issue over time. I attribute it to the chlorine in the water weakening the plastic walls of the solar tubes.

I love this thing!!! I have a 10 x 18 Intex oval above ground pool that my wife bought last summer with a saltwater chlorinate system. Last year it was very brisk to get into, you almost got use to it after a few but it was cold. I had to get something to heat it up this year and ordered this Game SolarPRO Curve. The pool has two water draw ports for the pump and one output to the pool. I hooked up the heater between the end draw port of the pool and the splitter that connects the two draw lines. This made it so only half the recerculation water is passing through the heater. My yard is very shady and it only gets sun for about 5 to 6 hours a day. This year I also bought a pool thermometer to see how cold it was. After filling, the pool was about 70 degrees, after a week and a half the pool is up to 80 degrees. I have the filter pump on a timer to start running at 7:30 in the morning and shut off at 6:30 in the afternoon. I had to get a couple of hose clamps to make it work and it has a small leak (maybe a cup a day) that needs to be fixed between the Intex hose and the Game hose. I am planning on putting a sleeve in the line so I can tighten the hose clamp down better. The only criticism I have for this is, they could give better instructions and parts to make it work for the most common pools. To make this work for My pool it took two hose clamps and a hard plastic 1 1/4" sleeve that were not in the box, and some thinking. One other thing that would make this product perfect is a bleed off valve at the top so there are no air pockets trapped in the heater that could cause blockages. I just had to tip it back and forth to get all the air out.

I purchased two of these qand set them up in series on my 20,000 gallon in ground pool, running off of the main pump through the water feature. The output was quite warm but not sufficient in volume to increase trhe temperature of the pool very much. As I increased the flow, the output temparature dropped, because the water didn'[t spend enough time in the heater. I was able to use the pool about 10 days longer than usual in the autumn. The original fittings that came with the pool did not fit correctly. The company supplied correct ones immediately. I would recommend this item for smaller, above-ground pools. Noter: The price of this item seems very erratic.

I purchased two of these for my new pool. I've had them for about three weeks and so far no issues. The 4-star rating is for the insanely cheap and poorly designed tubing and connectors and the poorly designed legs that they have. Because of the cheap legs, I built a support structure to take the weight off the legs (not shown in photos). I did read many of the reviews and hesitated to purchase these because of the problems with leaking, etc. When I first took these out of the boxes and looked at the components, I almost sent them back unused. Then after considering the cost of return shipping, I decided to keep them. I hooked them up, using great care and every plumbing trick I know to make them work.... and they do... without leaks. I used a very large amount of silicone to make each connection (I connected two together). As you can see in the photo, I allowed the silicone to ooze out of the connection and seal itself around the connection. I also used Teflon tape. I let the silicone dry for 36 hours before pumping water through the hoses and to my surprise... no leaks. Because of some unusually hot weather where I live, I have not needed to use these everyday. When you touch them, they feel hot from the sun and I'm sure the water running through them warms my pool when needed, but again, I have not noticed the difference too much with the hot weather. I'm sure when August rolls around and we start having 50 degree nights, I will use them everyday and will notice they do work as intended. For now, after reading all the lousy reviews, I am just happy with no leaks. Despite the poor construction of the components, I believe you can make these work if you take the time and do it right. Could they be better? Absolutely.

The threads on both the "INLET" and the "OUTLET" were not cut deep enough allowing for slippage of the compression nut which resulted leakage. I contacted the company and they said to take a picture of it and send it to them (like they could tell from a picture the threads were not cut deep enough). I guess they did not believe me. Anyway, I tried Teflon tape on the threads and it stopped it for a few days. A few weeks ago I was walking into in my backyard to do some work and heard running water..as walked toward my running pool pump, I was now sloshing through the grass. Upon arrival, I noticed the hose on the outlet side blew off the threads and the water, as you can imagine, was spewing out like a fire hydrant. My only solution at this point (before I trash it) is to try and use some PVC fittings and see if they will bite a little better. On a positive note, it did warm the pool, but whatever warmth gained was lost when I had to refill it.

these work great if you have a simple understanding of how heat transfer works. there are many variables that go into making these work properly. first being pool size i would suggest having 1 panel for every 2000 gallons these things can only attract so much heat. the second would be placement. just because its a warm day these need to have direct sunlight . third would be to slow the flow through the panels i have a valve going back into the pool that i have turned to slow the flow if your pushing water though the panel too fast then there isn't enough time for heat to transfer from the panel to the water. i upgraded pumps awhile ago i use a 1500 gph to run my skimmer at full power and i use it for the vacuum. then i use my old 1000 gph pump to run 2 panels that i have regulated to run slower to get good heat transfer. the third would be to adjust your expectations this will keep the pool up a couple degrees at best may spike up on warm days. these arent magic. with that being siad they do what i expect them to do. my pool always dropped to around 60 degrees when i put it up and stayed there (sandiego) after a week it is at 64 i only get warm water out of it for about 4 hours of the day due to placement. if i wanted more i would add panels not leave a bad review. i had a small sealing problem not at threads but hose wouldnt seal going from the nipple from panel to panel but i luckily had a hose with a slighty smaller diameter that sealed it up for me without the clamp. if your not getting warm water out of it you either dont have air out of the system or you have flow to high. one you detect barley slightly warmer water coming out that is all your gonna get. it will take days to notice anything

At $130 I don’t recommend it over cheaper alternatives. After all, there is a reason that, as of this writing with 163 reviews, they only hold a 3 star. At the list price of $160 -- it is just more of a money grab. Looking at heater options on Amazon, it appears the market has no quality solar heaters at this price point. The Good - Metal clamps and a great look/design. - It increases the pool temperature, but so does any black solar heater. - Large tubes provide good flow. The Bad - A little flimsy - Only two metal clamps. You must use your own clamps after that. If you need adaptors and don’t have the larger clamps the company has decided that is your problem. - Says to use the Bestway adaptors if you have that pool…. They weren’t included in this kit, so this might be an issue for some people. - The large openings are able to swallow the rubber adaptor boots. In case you have helpful kids test fitting for you :) My Issues - The in and out sides both leaked. The intake because the threads kept slipping back and that stopped the gasket from sealing. This leak was heavy and cost me about 3 inches of water over 24 hours (smaller 1300'ish gallon pool). After replacing lost water and 30 minutes messing with tape and another gasket, I got the leak down to an acceptable level. At 130’ish… I expected higher quality than a cheapo-30-dollar Walmart heater. My 30 dollar one didn’t leak, this one leaked on both ends. I won’t link the 30-dollar one I bought, because it has its own issues… however, at 30 bucks my expectations were basically met. This product left me rather irritated. Updates (27 July 2017): - The leak worsened again, and I tried several solutions. 1) ABS glue, 2) PVC glue, 3) hot glue gun (and that worked). I think you need a Polypropylene based glue to hold, as the first two failed. Added image of the joint with hot glue to stop the leak. Note that when left sitting in the sun, the hot glue softens a bit, but still works for me. Silicon may be a superior choice. - The hoses tend to leak, because there are no gaskets on the hose adaptors. My new pump, came with adaptors that have gaskets, so I use them and no longer have a leak from the hoses. - On day four of owning the unit, one of the legs broke as I re-positioned the heater. The end of the leg is secured with only an 1/8th inch of metal. Normally plastic or metal re-enforcing is used on the end of support tubes, but not with this product. This explains the number of posts with broken leggings. - Pushing the extra water killed my cheap came-with-the-pool pump. My new pump pushes a lot of water through this unit and the heat exchange is poor. This is not an issue with this product, just the realities of low end pumps and high-volume replacement pumps being used with a solar heater. - I’m ordering a solar blanket for the pool. Based on reviews, it should do more and only runs ~19 dollars. Overall, really a poor-quality product for the asking price.
