So far I'm really enjoying this refrigerator. It's one of the few refrigerators on the market that fits the space I'm working on. I'ts tall enough to fit more stuff in than the typical 10 cubic foot fridge, and its width is perfect for me-- deep enough to fit a lot of food, but not too deep that things are getting lost in the back. I like the can storage in the door too. I can hear the fridge motor turn on, but I don't think it's loud. It uses about 300 watts per hour, which is not too much power for a full size refrigerator. The things I put in the freezer have stayed frozen, and items i get out of the fridge are cold, so It's working just fine so far. I also love the retro look.

So far so good. It does take a bit to cool down but after about 4 hours it got cool and has stayed cool. Noise level is normal. Good value, so far. Looks great tol.. Will update in 3-6 months

I bought this for a friend as a birthday gift, as her old fridge had finally given up. At first she loved it-- so cute, just the right size for the kitchen. Well, within a few months, the problems started. It iced up. Really badly. She defrosted it (and you thought the days of having to defrost a fridge were long over!), and within a couple of months, it iced up again. And again. And again. I'm no appliance expert, but it's pretty clear the defrost timer was bad. Google says this is a known problem with these fridges. Galanz customer service was no help at all. She contacted them a number of times before they replied with something other than vague, bad-translation English, canned responses. They don't service their fridges, as it turns out-- only give a refund if you complain repeatedly. Fortunately, my friend is a determined woman, and she kept at them, sending photos, descriptions of the problem, and order receipts several times. At last they said they were putting a refund in the mail. After 6 weeks, no refund. She contacted them yet again, and they made a million excuses-- problem with the courier (courier? now the USPS is a courier, seriously?), unexpectedly long "processing times," blah blah blah. She finally got the refund but minus the sales tax. Yep. After contacting them a final time, they said they don't refund the sales tax. This can't be legal. Don't buy this pretty but really crappy fridge. The good reviews are from people who just got it. Check out the ones from people who've owned it for more than 5 minutes.

When this arrived the box was torn up a little. The refrigerator itself has some dents on the side of the door, for me it didn't matter because I bought it to go in the garage. If I were putting it in a kitchen or bar area I would've returned it because of the dents. It's really cute, I love the retro look. The freezer works great. I wish the refrigerator was a little colder, I have it set on the coldest temp and it works, but it's not as cold as our regular refrigerator. Overall a great buy though.

I've been using this fridge for just over a year now and I'm very happy with it overall. There's lots of space inside and the fridge shelves have a good selection of height options to accommodate all kinds of stuff. There has been no ice build up, but some stuff that gets pushed near the back of the fridge sometimes will start to freeze or develop frost. I wish the freezer had a second option for shelf positioning. The shelf can only go in the middle so I've had a few instances where I had to get creative with the layout of stuff inside. Once or twice I've had to repackage something because there was just barely not enough room to go in with the original packaging. The other thing I don't like is the bottom door shelf. It's tiny so you're limited with what you can store there and it's easily blocked from view by the shelves directly above it that extend farther out. It's pretty quiet as well. My dog's water fountain sits next to the fridge and I can clearly hear their water moving around more than I notice the fridge aside from the brief moment when the compressor kicks on. Most of the time the fridge is completely silent.

I bought this fridge to replace my 15 yr old one when its compressor gave out. It's really nice fridge. Some initial observations: 1. Handles are plastic, not chrome. However I don't think it should be an issue as opening the door doesn't put a lot of pressure on them. I would prefer chrome but it wasn't a deal breaker for me. 2. There's no fan cooling the compressor on the back. My guess is it's because this is a narrower model 28 in vs. average 30 in. My old fridge had a fan but it was 30 in wide. 3. It is very quiet. 4. The freezer has a cold and colder temp adjustment. I set mine on cold and it was enough to keep food frozen. 5. Just to be on a safe sight I didn't plug it in for 24 hrs to allow coolant to set as I didn't know how it was stored in the warehouse or on the delivery truck (it should be stored upright). 6. The fridge uses R600 coolant as opposed to R134 freon. It is more environmentally friendly but it is flammable (freon is not). It looks like R600 is replacing freon though the 1st night I had nightmares about the fridge exploding. I used to keep a toaster oven on top of the old one, but will not on top of this one. The flammable coolant is the reason for 4 stars. 7. The instructions asked for removing a plastic film from a drain plug, but I think it applies to self defrosting models, not the manual defrosting one like this. I couldn't find a drain plug anywhere inside the fridge.

I don't typically write reviews for my Amazon buys, but this item has exceeded my expectations for the price by far. We moved into our first home and the old fridge left behind was just not worth trying to salvage. Being somewhat cash strapped and not ready to commit to a full-size replacement (especially others with this retro style), we stumbled upon this. I was skeptical at first, but the fridge is a perfectly managable size for two people in terms of storage space, and the black retro look is great. Appearance has kept it's charm and still looks new six months on. No issues with shipping, no issues of any kind. Having a smaller fridge leaves us more space in the kitchen as well, which may be hard to lose whenever we upgrade to a full-size fridge as our family grows. The end game for this will become either a garage or basement fridge, when that time comes. The only con I can give is that some items toward the back of the very top shelf may get a little too chilly, we've had a few smaller items freeze back there - the best problem to have with a fridge, it can cool too well at times. Might even just be something we could adjust further with the freezer settings, but we're happy.

I should know by now when a price is too good to be true there’s a reason. The red 12 cubic feet refrigerator did not work from the first hour and now is in the way, created a ton of extra work and is a major disappointment. The freezer part works but the bottom refrigerator section has never made it below 50 degrees. I should have listened to the other reviews. Now I have to wait over a week for this thing to be picked up. And I don’t get my money back until it’s picked up so I have no fridge and no money to buy a different fridge. UPDATE: So Amazon was good about helping me set up the return but this had to be picked up by a freight company and the pick up was very unsettling. The driver pickup person was first two hours early. Not a big deal. But then he was angry because of a small 3 inch drop from our doorway where this was supposed to be for him to pick up to the stoop just outside our door. Instead of using the dolly he just grabbed this fridge and dragged it down that little step down and then down another similar about 4 inches high and both concrete. The plug was not secured and I tried to tape it telling him multiple times the plug is dragging and please stop until I can secure it. I was preparing this when he showed up much earlier than scheduled. He said “I don’t give a f~€%” and finally put the fridge into the dolly and took it to the truck with the plug hanging the whole time. I was so upset I called Amazon immediately. This better not affect my refund. It’s bad enough this was such a huge disappointment and major inconvenience to have big fridge that doesn’t work taking up space. But now this and worrying about it arriving so I can get my money back. I will be calling the shipping company. Horrible experience. I will never order anything large from Amazon ever again.
