If you knock it over, it shuts off until you set it back on it's little bottom. Easy to turn off and on, no rocket science needed to use it. The heat coming off it is sufficient to gently warm a small room, without a danger of fire. It's durable, I've knocked it over several times and it keeps on working. It's small so it doesn't take a lot of energy to run and it's actually a bit cute. I've stood directly in front it and not been burned, though I would still recommend you keep it free of any items to prevent overheating. This heater isn't very powerful and electric heaters are never efficient but it's exactly as expected and exactly what was need for a little additional heat in my pump house. Heat escaping from my water heater and a thermostat controlled heat lamp are usually enough to keep Pex from freezing but in the double digit subzero temps we've been having during this arctic blast an additional source of heat was needed. This little low output heater is small enough to fit right where it's needed, the output isn't hot enough to endanger plumbing, low output means low power consumption and the price is right. Don't expect this to heat a room or even a small closet, this is a point of delivery heater. I have a small 1500w Honeywell space heater on high on one side and this 500w mini personal heater on the other.... I'm telling you, this mini is giving the Honeywell a run for it's money and at a 1/3 of the wattage. The Honeywell has more heat and a slightly more powerful fan but not by much... When I feel a chill, I reach for this one first. Space heaters are meant to warm up and heat a small room whereas these mini personal heaters are made to heat up you! These are not meant to warm up large spaces so if that's what youre looking for, you want to keep looking. These mini's are made to warm your feet under your desk, or keep your hands toasty at your computer. And at 500w it does an EXCELLENT JOB. Someone mentioned using it to keep pipes from freezing during a cold snap, perfect! It's "just enough" for something like that. To those that are complaining that this mighty mini isn't heating up their house like a space heater.... GO BUY A DANG SPACE HEATER! This is a personal heater and is meant to supplement your heating source not BE your heating source. To the ones saying there's barely any heat coming from their unit, you clearly have a defective unit. I'm 3 full feet away (1 meter) from mine at the moment and it's heating up my immediate area very efficiently and effectively... The fan is strong and just right. If I want the fan lower, I'll simply move the unit further away. It's the epitomy of MINIMULIST. Just turn it on. The space heater is tiny but powerful. The space heater is so small making it easy to move as desired. Its super easy to use, plug it in and press the button to turn on. It does not have temperature control so when it warms up enough just press the button to turn off. Plus, I love color. Super CUTE! I normally have the heater on my desk at work, but sometimes I bring it home and place it in my room. I am a person that runs cold at all times and having the house heater doesn't always help.
