My son was leaning back in his chair during distance learning and it was trenching out groover in the carpet. We replaced it with this chair, which both kids LOVE. It keeps their body working in a way that helps them sit more quietly. They have also taken to sitting on it while watching TV as well. Somehow my 8yo daughter managed to tip the chair and fall over with it during one such evening (definitely not an issue of the design, more an issue with the child!). My son also was doing homework and the chair "accidently" deflated. He claims to have no idea how the chair was punctured. Upon inspection i'm thinking either a steel pencil or arts and crafts scissors may be the culprit. Unbelievable... it's not even a month old! In any case, a quick internet search suggested a bit of goop with duct tape. We used a vinyl patch with goop and all seems to be holding wonderfully now...though my 11 year old son hasn't yet started his "bouncing" routine. In any case, great product, excellent for impulse control / always moving kids. Thanks!

Wow! Wasn't sure if I'd like this, but I have to admit, it's quite comfortable. I can use it at my office desk AND my piano! The assembly instructions left a lot to be desired, but I managed to figure it out. The one missing step was punching out the center of the center post cover. After I did that, it fit and worked like it was supposed to. I love the adjustable height and it's nice to have the foot rest that elevates my feet. It's also nice to have the flexibility to move my hips around like I was actually on a balance ball. The next test will be to see how long it lasts....(purchased 6/2018).

Easy to assemble right in my office. Seat pressure is easily adjustable for comfort. I sit more than five hours a day at a desk. My upper back pain is significantly reduced due to better posture, thanks to this yoga-ball office chair.

I really like the idea of this chair. It combines all of the features I was looking for. Including the locking wheels but I’ll get to that in a moment. I’m using it and enjoying it. There are a few improvements I must suggest. Many have spoken about the wheels locking up. I tend to sit with my feet resting on the wheel, so I keep unintentionally locking the wheels. That’s the only reason they lock, they don’t lock on their own. Then the unlocked ones will still roll but The chair will not roll as smoothly anymore so you have to reach down and unlock them. Not a big deal really. . I work with a lot of paperwork so I’m moving my body in a circle, 360* degrees practically the whole time I’m at my desk. As another poster suggested, I will be replacing the wheels with rollerblade wheels that they suggested. I purchased them but they have not arrived yet. Keep your old locking wheels! As for the comfort and health factor of sitting in a chair of that nature, I filled the air once and have not had to refill it in about two weeks. Seems not to leak. In fact, the seat seems a little too firm and I might let out a little bit of the air to achieve a little more bounce. I’m hoping that will soften it up a little because that’s important for my spinal condition. Perhaps you could develop soft, Medium and firm options? Also, I love the fact that it’s on a hydraulic that goes up to, I believe, 33 inches. That means it can easily be used to stand and work, or just to lean on it. I recommend grabbing your laptop and moving it to a taller desk ( kitchen counter bar for instance) and stand there while you work for about 15 minutes an hour. You will want to lean on it. That’s the reason you are gonna want those locking wheels back. So don’t get rid of them if you change them out - you might want to put them back on just for standing situations. The lowest height - I don’t recall the measurement for it - but it is just a little too high for a regular desk height, but I can get by. That could just be my set up, who knows, but I don’t think so - it’s pretty standard height. I have a desk with a pullout tray drawer for keyboard. I don’t use it for that but just to sit at the desk alone and write while in the chair is a little high at its lowest setting. It works very smoothly though and raising and lowering it is breeze. If it continues to work out well and I can get the seat to soften a little bit, I may buy a second one for my workbench in the garage. Update: I put the roller blade wheels on and love it. However, they raise the lowest height by about an inch, which is pretty high for a regular desk. This chair is the one that raises up for standing, so its low point might be a bit higher than the regular chair. Any taller and it wouldn't work for me, but it just makes it. Moreover, they are fast so be careful!

I am shocked to see all the review saying the chair is comfortable. (Disclaimer, my behind is not bony, it has some build in cushioning.) I bought this chair trying to replace a very comfortable but discontinued egg-shaped ball I had been sitting on for 20 years in my shop. First, I tried to pump it up as much as the instructions on this listing page suggest (16 to 22cm). Trying my hardest to even getting it close to 16cm, though it is difficult to measure because of the dome. The pump does sort of fit the hole, but not great, so you have to hold it just right to get air into the ball. I gave up at about 15cm, only to find out that the ball is so crazy hard and uncomfortable anyhow, I let air back out. Still so darn hard! So I added a piece of firm seat cushion foam to it and taped it in place with packing tape... still too hard, then I added a sturdy round stool cushion on top of that. This raised the chair too much at its lowest setting at the bench, so I took the wheels off, added some acrylic 'feet' I cut on my laser because the middle section was now higher than the feet, making the chair wobble. Now the chair is doable and I can sit on it for maybe an hour or two, max, but then I need a break. Maybe that is not a bad thing. Sitting for hours on end is not good for your body:) So instead of an Apple watch reminding you to get up, this chair does it for free:) What I love about the chair is that it swivels, I leave it mostly in place and just swivel in and out of it to get up or reach for things. And because there is no back rest, it doesn't take up a lot of room in my small, packed workshop. Sitting on a domed shaped ball is also great in theory, your hips and butt can move easily while sitting. So I am keeping it. But since I know what a soft and comfortable sitting balls should feel like, this one ain't it. It feels more like you are sitting on a super inflated car tire. If I do have issues with it deflating in the future, I will just use the frame and jerry-rig something with a softer, inflable, round seat cushion.

Review of NEW balance ball stool: Fantastic combination of fun and useful. Works very well at any desk or table. Great spinability and easy rolling, with locking casters when necessary. I am hoping they come back in stock so I can buy a second one, so both kids have one for video school. Beware buying one used. I bought the same stool, Used, because it was in stock. Buy from Gaiam only! Review of used balance ball stool: An almost-visible miasma of some mysterious food/NOT food stench burst from the box upon opening, causing the entire house to reek of its mysterious mephitic. The seat is greasy (GREASY!) and its bottom looks like it was used as a shield in a firefight with a lava monster. I love the original stool I purchased and was hoping to find it a mate. Instead, I got this twisted, putrid cousin that grew up in a radioactive, former dog-park landfill.

I had an original Gaiam balance ball chair for 10+ years and only had to replace the ball once. I used it daily for a job working 40-60 hrs/wk. Only just recently had a leg crack and would no longer hold the wheel. Still works great as a stationary chair though. Ball still in great condition. When I was shopping for a replacement chair for work, I was so excited about this. All the benefits of the ball chair I loved, from a brand I trusted, but I was also able to adjust the height to accommodate my sit-stand desk. So much more flexibility. Unfortunately, less than13 months after I purchased it, the chair split right along the base and will no longer hold air. I tried a patch designed for boats on the first split, but it just split again a couple inches from the original. Absolutely frustrated with the quality. Unlike my other chair, I can't just replace that part. Because I bought through Amazon instead of directly from Gaiam, I have no recourse with Gaiam. I do not recommend this product.
