I washed this before I used it. It did good in the washer and dryer. I really like it because I have a king pillow top and there was room to tuck it under. A big plus. It was worth the price. I highly recommend this item.

Thin, and does make noise. I sit next to my 2-year-old when he goes down for a nap in a rocking chair. I hear it all. It's crunchy. He moves around a lot before he falls asleep. It may keep some kids from falling asleep. For him, I think he just fights it and no matter what, he won't sleep until he's ready. It may contribute though to him staying awake. But I'm giving 4 stars because at this price, it's exactly what I expected. I just really wanted something that kept him from the mattress itself which is plastic, and he gets very hot when he sleeps so he needed a layer in between him and the mattress. This mattress topper is very waterproof. I have an incontinent 112-pound Irish Wolf Hound/Dachshund mix (with stubby legs) that shares a bed with me and this works like a charm to protect my mattress. I wake up to warm soggy legs, but that’s a better alternative, I think.
