Replaced the filter on my own after 3 years. Wollah the old filter was pinkish in color. Now on going to change this regularly!! Thing to note the plastic wrench that came with the original product was handy. That helped in removing the filter easily.

Manufacture recommends changing every 3-6 months; I let mine go about a year and a half, oops! I wasn’t really noticing any ill effects but figured it was time to change. Well the old one was totally brown! Yuck! I didn’t think I had decreased water pressure, but it was better with the new filter after all. Replacing it was easy, I turned off the water, twisted off the canister top, and used the wrench that came with the canister (I had taped it to the side) to remove the filter, which did take some strength. Reversed the process and that was it. Write the date on the side of the canister with a sharpie. ... show more

Easy installation. Unless like me, you have the worst timing and luck in the universe and find out that you kitchen sink isn't like any others because the person that built it was a scab contractor on meth. After having my kitchen sink waterline fixed, I was able to install this in a about 5 minutes. Read the instructions. It's drinking water. It matters a lot if you're not trying to die. My city has "The cleanest water in the USA" according to a few news article that went viral a couple years back. Guess they didn't test the water in my neighborhood. Yeah, our water is clean. Before it runs through grips of rusted and busted pipes and is exposed to sewage and groundwater. Then it comes out looking like that coffee from Monster's Inc. This filter works great for me. I just take a peek at it every month to see how bad it is. Sometimes it only lasts a couple months, but usually I get 3-4. It depends on the water quality, and that changes. So take these reviews with a grain of salt. It won't detoxify swamp water or remove the chlorine from pool water lol. It's not a survival filter. It's meant for cold, tap water. If your water quality is too bad to be saved by this filter, I'd highly suggest looking into a different method, like water delivery or some type of larger multi-step system that can be used for your entire water supply, because if it's actually that gross it is ruining your clothes and bedding in the washer, damaging your scalp, hair, and skin in the shower, and slowly poisoning you when you consume it anyway. There's one essential necessity to carbon based life. Let's not take it for granted. That said, these could definitely use a price cut since they don't last super long if your water is as hard as mine. Pros: Water tastes great, has no brown tint anymore. Easy install. Arrived in sturdy cardboard and tamper-evident vacuum-sealed packaging. Cons: Cost could be lowered a bit for sure. Lifetime depends greatly on water quality. Same with any filter ever made, but this is why some people say it only lasts about a month and others say it lasts way longer. Mine varies between 2-4 months. When it was dirty at 2 months they were doing a lot of construction up the road that exposed some ground to the main. I made sure to use the same filter until they were done but it was extremely dirty after that. I just replaced one after 3 months exactly and it was light brown. Sure it could have gone a little longer but why play with fire when the real goal is clean water? Overall: Highly recommended if your water tastes like bootyhole. ... show more

For household of two people, I waited two years. I will now do this every six months because I see it works. You can even see some granules that it’s filtered out. This is at my parents house and I am a strong man, but I had my dad help hold the cartridge because it was slippery at the time (but I probably could’ve used sandpaper or a grippy glove to help me grip it by myself ) while I also held the cartridge and twisted with the wrench with I would say about 80 foot pounds of torque. The wrench has a short handle but it will work. I’m glad I saved the money and the environment and only ordered the cartridge. To help you line up the cartridge back under the sink you can use a marker and make a line of where the cartridge started when it’s installed and then also before you push it down after it’s unscrewed you can make another line to see where are you should line it up to reinstall it at.
