  • Genius idea for small and medium ice cubes
Color: STAINLESS
This is a genius idea and love the fact that it is a Frigidaire! Only down side...the ice cubes are a little wet from the splashing of the water.

  • Finally have enough ice
Color: RED STAINLESS
I almost returned this when my wife pointed out it doesn't make Sonic style ice but so far I'm really glad I kept it! My household uses a lot of ice. Our fridge ice maker is defective so I got this as an alternative. I got the red one because the copper one that some reviews mentioned as a better model took longer to deliver. I have been using the large ice setting, I haven't tried the small size yet. I love the simplistic looking design, you can see exactly how it makes the ice. So I've had this for a month now, plugged in and going. I'm not sure if I'm really supposed to run it overnight but I've left it going. I keep scooping and it keeps filling up the ice. If I don't get to the ice in time it melts back into the tank, no big deal because new ice is made quickly. I've refilled the water about 7 or 8 times since I got it; I fill it like every 3-4 days. It's been great in the morning to fill water bottles for my kids before school. Even if a cube got stuck overnight and it's down near the bottom, I just scoop it out and let it make a few batches of new ice every few minutes. Based on other reviews I was worried about the need to clean it frequently but there's no visible sign of mold yet. I think the combination of frequent use and having a big BlueAir purifier in the kitchen as well helps tremendously. I've noticed my air purifier seems to keep a lot of mold out of the air and prevents it from growing on food and surfaces like inside this ice maker. The fan makes noise, nothing obnoxious or distracting but if you're standing next to it while someone's talking to you from another room, you might not hear them clearly. It doesn't bother me. I think it's fairly energy efficient. Aside from a 2 second 8A peak at startup my Kill-A-Watt says it uses about 95W while it's freezing which is about 5-8 minutes per ice batch. The rest of the time plugged in I wasn't measuring anything other than 6W when it's dumping the ice into the tray. So far the only annoyance is when it dumps ice into the tray and one piece blocks the IR sensor so it thinks the ice is full. It happens occasionally if there's partially melted ice on the bottom. 5 stars for now; I love never running out of ice! ... show more

Perfect! Very efficient ice maker. We use this in our RV. Good camping companion for sure!

  • OK. Nice basic ice maker.
Color: RED STAINLESS
Compact. Easy to use. The ice is a little wet and tends to stick together, but overall it is a nice little home ice maker. It is good for times when the ice is used right away.

  • Better quality than the cheaper models
Color: STAINLESS
Our old ice maker died and we needed a replacement. I purchased several to try and this one is far superior than the others. It must be insulated better because once ice is made it stays solid for a lot longer than our old machine. This one is also way easier to clean. We use filtered water in it, but over time it can still get that scaly build-up. Our old machine was really hard to get into the nooks and crannies, but this one just seems much easier. ... show more

  • Nice little ice maker - nope
Color: STAINLESS
Some friends purchased one of these about 4-5 years ago. When we go camping/lodging they bring this unit to keep ice ready and it has always worked well. We finally broke down and picked one up for ourselves. It makes the small cubes in about 7-8 minutes and can readily fill an ice bucket in short order. The only drawback IMO is the noise level. The fan for the refrigerator unit is noisy and until you get used to it the ice dumping mechanism can be a bit surprising. Be aware that when you move this unit, and particularly if you tip it over, the unit needs to be sat right side up for a few minutes before operation to allow the refrigerant to settle. edit- another items to add in consideration. This produces very wet ice due to the nature of the unit. When you move the ice to a bucket like one would, have an ice pick or small wooden mallet (etc.) on hand to bust it back apart. It will concrete into a bucket shaped mass. Edit- So, here we are. Eight days after purchase and a problem arose. The unit is dripping water all over the counter while filling. I first spent almost 3 hours today with "tech support" of Frigidaire trying to see if there was something that could be done to easily fix the issue. In spite of providing the model number, the bogus support sent me schematics for a dish washer and then a full size fridge. Didn't matter that I provided them with the model number. To top off this stellar waste of time, they then informed me that some 3rd party group takes care of warranty issues with these units. I would return this to Amazon for a refund, but alas, the retail box was accidentally thrown away. At this point I am stuck with an ice maker that "works" while also dripping water all over my countertop. I put the unit inside a cookie sheet much like a drip pan, but certainly not something you should be doing with an eight day old product. Don't walk. RUN away from this product as the manufacturer support on the back end is worse than a bad joke. Just burned a bill on pure crap. additional edit- After contacting Frigidaire and then the group they have handling warranty on this unit called Curtis International I was basically told 'tough luck' in regard to ANY level of service or satisfaction on their end. I contacted Amazon back in chat to see if anything could be done, and they stepped up and took the unit back alongside a refund. It really doesn't matter if this is the best countertop ice maker on the planet. The way the manufacturer and their support group handled this was poor beyond measure. DO NOT support manufacturers that want to treat customers this way. I will not ever knowingly spend another penny supporting Frigidaire after this. ... show more

  • Best ice maker for the money
Color: RED STAINLESS
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I have other Frigidaire appliances and the beautiful red color matches with some of my other small countertop appliances like my coffee maker, my toaster oven and my four slot toaster. How the saying goes: A watched pot never boiled. Really don't want to watch it work but I can hear it work. First time use, I'm letting it run it's course till I'm ready to start making ice for actual use. ... show more
