Foxwell has been a great quality product, there is a good screen size. Connection to vehicle is a little slow, but it's very accurate with vin recognition. The menus are easy to use, but some features are hidden within other menu options. Just have to thumb your way through to get familiar with it.

    • Nice scanner for home use with all makes
I've had this a year and here are my thoughts. Scanner is easy to use and is relatively fast scanning most vehicles. It is slower than some of the more expensive scanners. It does scan all modules and reads the pids from each module. It resets codes fine. Graphing is pretty basic only 2 pids at a time. Limited bidirectional/reset abilities. The EPB did work for me. Need a windows PC to update the scanner. Best to pull the SD card from the scanner and update directly with the PC. I could not get the scanner to update thru the usb cable. Let me preface that I am not a certified mechanic. I do some vehicle maintenance for my family. My F350 was throwing a bunch of errors over the weekend and called in to schedule a service with the dealership I bought it from. Even though I purchase a service warranty with, I am a firm believer of "if it ain't broke don't fix it". And I frankly don't trust anyone people to be honest and do the right thing. I purchased this scanner to see what the problems were before getting them from the dealer service technician. The device was able to scan and find my vehicle VIN and info. Problem was everytime I go into any function it has to scan for the info again. Imagine if it can't and you have to enter the information manually. What a pain. When I did the power train scan, it went to lala land and had to disconnect and reconnect. One thing I know about serial connectors, you don't want to do that too often. You especially don't want to disconnect and reconnect when power is on. The worst part of this, the service function is not supported for my 2017 F350. At least that is the message I got when I tried it. Software was fully updated before using it. Product quick start guide is not updated. Not sure about it yet. Will try a few more and read up on the user manual. The good part. I cleared all the faults and took the truck for a drive. No faults came back. Save me $180 of diagnostic charge at the dealer service plus whatever else they will try to charge me for. Update: After my review, Foxwell customer service reached out to me and working with their engineers. They pointed out a few maintenance functions do work for my truck. Customer service was very responsive. I decided to add 1 more star for the product. It's a very nice product, but I decided to return it and get a Bluetooth scanner instead. I own several OBD2 scanners / diagnostic tools. I work in the powersports industry (motorcycles, ATV, UTV, etc.) and similar type tools we use cost many times more than this one and most have less functionality. As I've said in a previous review, if you are an auto technician or even just a do-it-yourself person and have a modern day vehicle then a OBD2 scanner / diagnostic tool is a must. There are lots of brands and models available for purchase that range from super cheap to rather expensive and as you go up in price you usually get more functionality you get. An inexpensive OBD2 scanner will most likely have a low-resolution screen and just scan for DTC codes and offer no definitions of the codes. Also cheaper scanners will most likely not have a live data stream and will not have any recording capabilities. These budget scanners also may not offer updates and could possibly not work with later model vehicles. More expensive OBD2 Scanner / Diagnostic Tools like this one have higher-resolution color screens, offer code DTC definitions, are updatable, and perform more functions than just reading and erasing DTC codes such as allow you to view live data streams an even take snapshots and record this data for later playback. I purchased FOXWELL NT624 Elite OBD2 Scanner / Diagnostic Tool because of the higher-resolution screen, built-in code DTC definitions, and because it is updatable through their website (free update for life). It also gives you live data readings for most of the OBD2 monitored systems on your vehicle, and it has the ability to capture and record streaming data, and you can reset many of the systems and fault codes using this tool. I also like that it came with a nice hard case. Before first use of the FOXWELL NT624 I went to the FOXWELL Tech website, opened a free account, and then downloaded the software needed to update the scanner as well as view files from the scanner. Once installed the software serves as a dashboard to update the scanner with the latest scanner file updates as well as choose which car models you want to have access to on your scanner. You can also choose to uninstall models if you like. (see screenshot below) The included Micro SD storage card appears to be able to hold all of the available car models if you so choose. But I chose not to install some of the obscure models that I have never heard of and will never work on. Note: Let all the updates finish before unplugging or hitting any of the buttons on the scanner. I find that it is best to walk away while the scanner is being update so I am not tempted to touch anything. With the latest updates installed I was then able to plug the FOXWELL NT624 into the OBD2 diagnostic port on my truck and car and start testing all the functions. I didn't read the manual at first but was able to navigate through all the settings and screens fairly quickly as the button layout is fairly intuitive and the tool five you onscreen prompts. (More complex diagnostics and running graphs will require a little reading first.) I've only used this OBD2 scanner / diagnostic tool for a little while but so far I like it. The tool is easy to hold and navigation and selection buttons are well laid out and rubberized making navigation easy even when wearing mechanics gloves. The 4.3" TFT screen is clear and easy to read with information screens that are logically laid out and easy to navigate. Plus the wealth of information that this scanner/diagnostic tool reads and the functions it performs is incredible, especially considering the price. The only slight negative I can think of is the body of the scanner is not rubberized so I would be careful not to drop this. I hope you found this information helpful.     • Unit fails to perfom maintenance functions as advertised
I had high hopes for this unit but it has failed me twice on two different vehicles and the return window is only 30 days which makes this pretty much a waste of $200+ and my time. The first vehicle was a 2005 Chevy Silverado performing an ABS pump bleed, it kind of worked but not as it should have. The pump would cycle some and then it wouldn't. It was not consistent. The second vehicle was a 2019 Subaru Forester, it had a simple task, release the electronic parking brake to allow for a brake job on the rear brakes. Failure to communicate with the vehicle for this function makes this tool worthless in this situation. The tool did seem to scan well though, but that is not the primary purchase was for. Support is a joke, no one to talk to, email only, or online chat with Amazon who has no idea how to use this tool. Recommend looking elsewhere. ... show more
