  • Works amazing
I bought this with hesitation. I’ve burnt through a ton of heat bulbs for my chickens in the winter months. This is strong, does not shatter or break if they are flying around. I used a safety hook to mount the heat shield with clamp. We had -30 and the birds stayed comfortable. I will buy again. I’m using it in a 10x8 coop. ... show more

  • Brooder
Got this for a brooder, had one in the coop for winter. They seem to work well and keep the birds warm without the bright light of a bulb or risk of shattering. That said I don’t think they are as warm or effective as the lightbulbs are.

  • Heats good

  • Do not replace your red light for this one
It is a high quality durable Heating filament, However, the heat produced is Subpar. You will have to get the light much closer to achieve the same thermal Heating as a typical red light bulb. It's probably great for brooders though! I use mine as a general heat source emergency for the flock. And unless you break/drop it, it will probably last you along time ! ... show more

  • caused a fire
This heat emitter caused my brooder lamp to overheat. The lamp base melted and caught my coop on fire. I used it in a 4'x4' coop, in a dry environment. The chickens were singed but alive, thankfully.

  • Not much warmth
Not nearly as good as heat lamps.

  • Don’t put out heat
You need to have a small area for this to work. It does not put out a lot of heat.
