My albums sound better than ever. very happy with it! We leave on a sailing boat with kids and we can gentle listen to records at anchor, even if there is a little swell. Musicians are playing inside the boat next to us. amazing.

I haven't compared this turntable to others in a side-by-side, nor have I played vinyl in decades. My previous turntable was purchased in 1977. Therefore, I did research to bring myself up to speed. One of the sites I used was Vinyl Attack. Other t-table comparison videos on YouTube were very helpful. I chose the RT85 based on this research and I'm happy with my purchase (one of the deciding factors was the auto-off of the RT85 that is absent on other comparable t-tables). The machine is built with quality components and looks gorgeous (I opted for the bamboo). It plays well, but I put my faith in the reviews - so things like the cartridge, belt drive, motor and wow and flutter specs I accept as excellent for the price range. I believe the machine lives upto the reviews and I'm very happy with my purchase. ... show more

The rising and lowering lever too close to the tonearm. Easy to bump into it with the finger. Seems like mine turntable came with old style not the improved one, located away from the tonearm. Disappointed with that. I had to buy another powersupply aswell.

The easy set up is very reassuring when you haven't done it in awhile. Using the provided level I was able to very easily set the plinth to level. With the black gloss finish, you MUST wear the supplied gloves! Deep and shiny. The Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge is everything that's been described in all of the reviews. I compared it to the red, bronze, and black. For the price point and the sound it is a very good deal. I have this hooked up to a Rotel A11 integrated amp. Could not be happier with this product. The sound is really good for a 500 dollar turntable. Considering the cartridge is 260 on its own and the upgrade platter would be 60 bucks this is a no brainer from Fluance. Not sure why someone would pick the other RT models. Will say the engine does not always stop when the record ends but it is not a problem. I don't use vinyl for background music. When I use this I am listening. ... show more

It was easy to set up and sounds great. I’m sure there are audiophooles who would nitpick about something that’s not even measurable, and definitely not audible — but it’s a good turntable.
