  • This is a great small compact beginner printer. Very easy to use.
Color: Black
OK for an entry-level printer this thing is pretty good. It’s my first printer and I’m very happy with it to a degree. The print plate is very small only 200 x 200 but that’s enough for the smaller projects that I like to do anyways. It’s auto leveling feature is really good and the fact that it has a heated plate makes it easy to remove projects. Unfortunately there is a small problem with the heated plate. It seems to lose its stickiness. I’ve had many failures with the plate itself refuses to hold onto any material. I had to return the first one that I had. For some strange reason after only four days of use no matter what I did I could not get anything to stick to the plate. I cleaned the plate to make sure that it was nice and smooth but no matter what, it stopped holding onto material. Before then I had printed out about eight pieces for small projects and they came out great. Amazon helped and did an exchange. The problem seems to be an on an issue with the plate. The new one I got stop holding on some material after the second day. But I like the printer a lot so I simply used duct tape over the heated plate which worked pretty good. Recently I removed the duct tape to see if maybe something has changed and for some weird reason the plate is now holding on to material. Weird. For the price you can’t beat it. I will say the one thing that is is not good at is making small figurines. I seem to have a bit of trouble making small figurines. But since I’m new I’m pretty sure I have to put some kind of support or something like that on it. If you’re new to 3-D printing and you want something small compact plus easy use I suggest this printer. I printed out plenty of things I’ve only had about three total failures and I am extremely happy with it. Maybe in the future I’ll get something bigger but for now this will work great. NOTE: Quick note, a lot of people complain that there is no tech-support or a website. But there is a website. It has customer service and updates for different printers they produce. They also have a downloadable directions on how to hook the computer to your printer. It’s a little convoluted but it works pretty good. You just have to watch the printer toward the end of it’s print. For some weird reason sometimes the printer will finish the print then just simply stop. Where it stops is usually right at the end point of your print which ends up burning a small hole in your print. I stopped using the program and now use an off-line program which automatically resets the printer. ... show more

  • Edited review after some changes and conversation with FLSun support
Color: FLSUN V400
I made some changes after recommending to not buy this printer yet... This printer is a good printer but out of the box it's been a 2 week long session of chasing gremlins. Out of the box the bi-metal heatbreak was not installed correctly from the factory. There are two set screws, one above and one below the effector, and the heat break was only secured with the bottom one. This allowed the heat break to bend and leak hot filament into the silicone hot end sock and ruined the hot end. FLSun support offered to sent out a new hot end. I am putting this here to tell you to make sure that both set screws are engaged on the 7mm copper part of the heat break. I'd loosen both screws and reseat it and then tighten them again to make sure the heat break is seated properly in the extruder Changes I made: 1. Belts. The OEM belts are glorified rubber bands and I found it very difficult to tension them correctly. I bought some genuine Gates 10mm belts and replaced all 3 of them. I think this is the best change I made as far as print quality. 2. Fans. The 24v fans work ok but the OEM ducts blow on the volcano style hot end more than the part. There are STLs out there for upgraded ducts but I could not separate the original fans from the ducts, so I bought new part cooling fans. I used 12v Delta BFB04512HHA fans and a buck converter to step down the 24v fan output to 12v. The landscape of available 24v fans in this 4510 size seems low. I also replaced the hot end heatsink fan with a 40mm Noctua and had to use a buck converter to step down to 12v here too, but it's real quiet. 3. Magnetic base. The original magnetic base was thick and not so flat. I bought a replacement square base from ULTISTIK in 310mm size and just cut it around the base after sticking it on. The ULTISTIK magnetic base is much more flat. I went from a .7-.8 average bed mesh variance to a .2-.3 with this change. Anything over .4 will make prints fail if you print over most of the base with a print. The Good: The removable bed (metal bendable part) is a good quality. The arms, effector, lights, and extruder seem good so far. The layout is good. No linear rails but I dont feel like I am missing anything because the steel wheels seem to roll well in the extrusions. The pad and the board work well out of the box. The bad: No accelerometer for klipper. FLSun says this is in the works. The bed leveling is easy to do but hard to perfect. You may need to use spacers under the plastic tray bed holders to get it flat. The original magnetic base was thick and uneven. I wouldn't use the original belts because they are stretchy. 24v fans (there may be a way to change this on the board). I has some issues with layer shifting after long prints I am testing if it was the belts or the steppers overheating now because the steppers get real hot. FLSun has been engaged and helpful so that is a plus. I'll edit this review again after I get and test the accelerometer and test more with long prints. ... show more

  • Small, Quick, and Accurate
Color: Black
This is only the second FDM printer I've owned, but I love it. After two weeks, it's proven to be a real workhorse, and I've only had a few failed prints, almost all due to problems with slicing. Printer arrived well packaged, and proved easy to assemble. The only difficulty was finding the switch to change from 220v to 110v operation. The bolt test print was nearly flawless. The only downsides to the printer are that the main fan is fairly loud, and the extruder motor is noticeable when its retracting. The print area is small compared to other printers in the same price range, but I feel the final print quality and faster printing speed more than makes up for this. ... show more
