I'm impressed by the overall quality of this kneeling chair, which tells me Taiwan has high production values. The packing was neat with each part separately wrapped, nothing missing. The wooden supports were already attached, so the only customer assembly needed was inserting eight screws to secure the seat and knee pads. Adjustment is a simple matter of moving the seat up and down via the dowel and pegs. I'm 5ft 1in with short legs and am comfortable at the two bottom levels, but even the top rung could be a tight fit for 6-ft people. I have a slippery carpet protector and a low desk so am not using the casters. I guessed correctly that the design would not put pressure on my knees, but it did make my shins hurt at first because I'm old. I put an extra foam cushion on the knee pad and am training my shins to get used to it and not hinder circulation. Meanwhile I can vary my position by using the chair as a stool with my legs stretched out. My reason for trying this kneeling chair is to vary the position of my knees and hips, which were feeling stressed from sitting in a regular chair, even with an orthopedic cushion. Also, getting up and down with the kneeler is good exercise for my whole body and especially legs. I recommend it for any age, in addition to a traditional chair. I will also be looking out for items made in Taiwan. UPDATE #1 : When I went back to my regular office chair with ergonomic cushion, my knee locked up again, so I know I did the right thing by getting this particular kneeling chair, which happily was also the most affordable. UPDATE #2: My shins have become used to the kneeling, and my knees have not been affected, so I've been able to discard the extra foam "training cushion." ... show more

    • Not a perfect chair, but pretty good overall.

I ordered this chair because I was tired of slouching forward in my old one and because poor posture was starting to cause some problems, including hip flexor tightness that was really uncomfortable and back pain. These issues are now gone thanks to this chair, because the sitting position really does encourage good posture. My hip doesn't bother me nearly as much. However, it should be noted that it can take some getting used to and that the initial "breaking in" period can be uncomfortable. I adjusted the seat up and down for several days until I found my "sweet spot", where the pressure was evenly distributed between my knees and my glutes. I work on web development, and sit in front of my computer several hours a day, and while this chair has done wonders for my hip and overall posture, it can occasionally leave my tailbone area a bit sore. While it's a worthwhile tradeoff for me, I still feel like it could be a bit more comfortable in that regard. As previously mentioned, the directions were also not very clear, as they are comprised of pictures. Just make sure you slip the 4 inch wooden parts over the big metal piece (with the adjustment screw) and line those up with the appropriate holes (as shown in the picture) and you shouldn't have much trouble assembling it. One thing I really like about this chair is the ability to easily change positions. Most of the time, I kneel as intended, but I can also put my feet up on the knee pads and assume a crouching position. As a guitarist, this permits me to put one foot up and play very comfortably. Another perk is that it is small and lightweight (easily picked up with one hand). It can easily be transported around if you are in need of it. I opened the box this morning and put the chair together in about 2 hours. The materials and craftsmanship are excellent, especially considering how low the price is. The design is good. The cushions are soft enough to pad your knees, and the height adjusts by simply turning a brass knob (no need to take the whole chair apart and screw it back together in a different position). It has a very attractive design. Compared to other kneeling chairs in the same price range, I like this one. The assembly instructions consist of a detailed pictorial diagram, with no verbal explanations. This should not cause you difficulty if you have assembled furniture in the past. If you have never used a kneeling chair before, you will find this style of chair helps keeps your back and abdominal muscles toned if you have to sit all day. However, if you are not already in good physical condition, this style of chair might cause you some discomfort. It has a label saying it will only hold 200 pounds. It can cause some discomfort on your knees, which can be alleviated by taking short standing breaks every hour or so. P.S. - I have been using the chair for several months. The knee plate gradually came loose, and you could feel it rocking back and forth. Today I got out the Allen wrenches & spent about 10 minutes tightening all the screws. Now the problem is fixed & the chair seems good as new. Shortly after I started using the chair, I bent too far forward to pick up something off the floor, and I tipped the whole chair over and landed on my knees on the floor (double ouch). However, I think that was a matter of "operator error" and nothing went wrong with the chair; just be careful and don't lean over too far, to avoid overbalancing. ... show more
