If you can buy it for less than the MFTC 200 then I would say buy it. I bought the MFTC chair in 2015 from Office Depot for $99 on sale and it does go on sale every so often. The cushion has worn out and the armrests crack. I suspect the same will happen with this Flash Furniture branded chair also so I didn't even bother to attach the cheap armrests. ■■■ Brand/Manufacturer ■■■ □ Flash Furniture Executive Swivel- Belnick LLC (Not the true OEM) □ Realspace MFTC 200 - Anji Grand Orient Furniture Co. Ltd (Office Depot/Max brand) ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ I couldn't find the real OEM for Belnick's Flash Furniture branded chair, the bottom labels didn't reveal anything. The Realspace is made by Anji Grand Orient Furniture Co. Ltd as labeled on the bottom of the chair. Belnick has warehouses in Georgia, Ohio, Mississippi, and California otherwise no further information about the OEM. The chairs are very closely identical making me suspect it's highly plausible it's from the same manufacturer as the Realspace. ■■■ Origin ■■■ □ Flash Furniture - Made In China □ Realspace MFTC - Made In China ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ Both chairs are made in China, Realspace has it on the bottom label of the seat and FF has it on the outside of the box. ■■■ Seat Cushion Quality ■■■ □ FF - A cushioned contour shaped for your bottom □ RS MFTC - No contour at all ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ The bottom of the FF chair is made of a plastic base and the RS MFTC is made of a heavier wood base with the upholstery stapled onto the seat. If you ever want to reupholster your seat in the future (like I probably will be doing) then buy the RS MFTC. I suspect the plastic base chosen in the FF task chair is to reduce shipping weight and cost. I can't be sure that the current RS MFTC still uses a wooden base as the seat. While the FF chair has a nice contoured cushion, I feel that over time the area where you sit may sink in over time leaving the outside portions you are not sitting on raised up high. The RS MFTC cushion may sink a lot faster if you are heavier in weight, I am only about 155 lbs, and the cushion still sunk over time fully flattening with zero support left. ▓ If you need the cushion to be comfortable, I would choose the FF chair as the seat is contoured. The RS MFTC cushion lies flat and over time you will need to reupholster the cushion or purchase a memory foam cushion to place on top of it after the cushion flattens. ▓ ■■■ Seat Height ■■■ □ FF - 18.5" lowered, 23" raised (based on top of cushion) □ RS MFTC - 15" lowered, 20" (based on top of cushion) ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ If you have short legs then get the RS MFTC as it sits lower, if you have longer legs go with the FF as it sits higher. Your legs will be dangling off the FF if you have short legs or your feet will not be planted on the floor comfortably. ■■■ Seat Tilt Adjustments ■■■ □ FF - Tilt function only leans backward, no way to lean forward □ RS MFTC - Tilt function only leans forward, leans back very little ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ There is no way to lean back on the RS MFTC task chair like the FF chair if that matters to you. And I am sure I installed it correctly as it is impossible to put the backrest mesh on if you put the bracket on incorrectly. The RS MFTC is more fitting for shorter individuals who would like to be able to plant their feet onto the floor comfortably. ■■■ Backrest Mesh ■■■ □ FF - 15" wide (measured sitting down at waist width) □ RS MFTC - 18" wide (measured sitting down at waist width) ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ I felt that both meshes provided good lumbar support as they both can be placed in a vertical position and tilted backward if you need to lean back for some reason. However, I did find that the width of the RS MFTC's backrest was much more satisfying. While both chairs provided adequate lumbar support the width of the RS MFTC chair just felt a lot more comfortable. There is a weird plastic accordion insert for the FF chair which felt cheap and tacky that did not properly expand up enough when the backrest was raised. I believe over time it would probably dry out and crack and split at the seams that join the plastic together. Both chairs' backrest mesh can be adjusted vertically to fit your torso height. ■■■ Arm Rests ■■■ □ FF - Poor Quality □ RS MFTC - Poor Quality ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ Both are very identical in shape, size, function, and quality with the RS MFTC barely being a little bit better in quality but not by much. The armrests will crack over time, I didn't even bother to attach the FF armrests on arrival and assembly. ■■■ Ease of Assembly ■■■ □ FF - Very Easy □ RS MFTC - Medium ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ In terms of assembly, I found the FF chair to be much easier to assemble for the reason being that the holes lined up well and the screws were easy to tighten. I found that the RS MFTC chair was slightly more difficult to assemble because of the screw quality but not more significantly difficult. I had to use a socket wrench to tighten the RS MFTC screws because they were slightly more difficult to tighten with the supplied Allen wrench. ■■■ Conclusion ■■■ While both chairs were pretty comparable in function, quality, and comfort I was more satisfied with the Realspace MFTC200 besides the poorly supported cushion. Smaller individuals should choose the Realspace MFTC200, larger individuals should consider the Flash Furniture Executive Swivel. If a comfortable seat cushion is your priority then you may like the Executive Swivel better. Bought this for my standing desk and I love it! I am 5'2" and was trying to find a chair that would work for me and also raise up high enough for my desk (while also lowering enough for my desk at it's usual height). This was a winner. I love it. It's so comfortable. I love how close the armrests can be and how they're adjustable. There's some decent lumbar support. Nothing to write home about. But all in all WAY better suited to me and my needs than a LOT of other chairs out there that are designed for taller people. ... show more

My fault for jumping on a deal. 50% sounded like a good deal. But the reality is this chair falls just short and I'll either need to get used to it... or be searching for a new chair soon. First the good. It's easy to assemble. It is as shown and described on the website. It has 3 adjustment handles. I like that the backing isn't as tall as my last office chair. It hits just below my shoulders. The bad. It's not a deep seat. 2 inches shorter than my previous. Meaning this is not a chair for anyone my size or taller. I'm six foot. The seat lacks a good 2 inches in depth. So when I sit more of my legs are off the chair before it before the knee. ... show more

    • Very ergonomic, highly adjustable, but rather difficult to assemble

There are many great features of this chair. The chair has a mesh back, much like the much more pricey and highly acclaimed Aeron Miller office chairs. The height of the chair back provides adequate lumbar support. Note that this is a "mid-back" chair rather than a "high-back chair," meaning the back of the chair does not extend as far as others do, such as this chair's rival, the Lorell Executive High-Back Chair. Despite this small limitation, the mesh back still contours nicely with the dip in the users' upper and lower spine, encouraging healthy posture. The seat pan is contoured to support one's legs and is comfortable enough for long-term use, but it is made of cloth rather than mesh in more high-end, but pricier chairs. The arm rests are height-adjustable by depressing small buttons on the side that allow them to move up and down freely. By positioning the arm rests at a height that matches the level of the desk's keyboard and mouse, one can protect against developing carpal tunnel syndrome. The horizontal extent of the arm rests is also adjustable, albeit at the time of assembly only, by positioning the arm rests before tightening the bolts and washers with the included Allen wrench. If only one person is the primary user of this chair, then this lack of flexibility is a non-issue. Speaking of assembly, this chair was one of the most difficult and frustrating chairs that I've assembled. Two of the included casters required an unusual amount of force to attach to the bottom plastic swivel-legged base of the chair. The arm rests were very difficult to assemble without a second person's help and dexterity. Lastly, the chair back attaches to the under-carriage assembly beneath the seat pan through a small loop, and a small spring-loaded plastic lock holds the chair back's arm in place in attachment with the seat pan. This lock has a wheel-shaped knob that must be turned counter-clockwise as far as possible with respect to the vantage point of the front of the chair. I found that I had to hold the other side of the spring-loaded plastic "bolt" in place with a pair of pliers to prevent it from also turning with the wheel. Furthermore, if the wheel has not been rotated all of the way counter-clockwise during assembly, then the chair back falls all the way down and is not able to hold its height. A surprisingly large amount of torque is required while turning the plastic knob to prevent this failure mode from occurring. The terse instruction manual did not clearly describe this process (neither in diagrams, nor in prose), and so having to discover all of these stipulations myself first-hand was pretty frustrating. Additionally, several of the threaded screw holes on the bottom of the chair base did not match the included screws as well as they could have, resulting in frustration. Some of this chair's materials/parts seem cheaply made (after all, for a value/bargain like this, one almost expects some cost-cutting to be made by the manufacturer). In particular, the casters, the bottom of the chair base, the sides of the arm rests, and the accordion-style pleated plastic conduit that wraps around the back metal arm connecting the chair back to the seat pan assembly all seem to be budget plastic parts. Meanwhile, the mesh chair back and the seat pan itself seem to be much higher-quality than expected. Unfortunately, to my dismay, many of the plastic parts arrived scuffed and scratched, almost as if parts of this chair were pre-owned by a previous buyer, returned, and inadequately "refurbished" before being sent out in a second (or third!) shipment. The noticeable wear-and-tear was very apparent during assembly. Perhaps I was unlucky and other chairs have shipped in much better condition than mine was in. While disappointed, I am willing to overlook these issues and retain ownership of this chair because of its superior ergonomics. Thankfully, assembly is a one-time process, and so frustrations encountered during chair construction can very easily be forgotten. Properly adjusting the chair is crucial; many problems with ergonomics such as back, neck, and wrist pain originate from improperly adjusted chairs. Thus, it is highly recommended that one adjusts the configuration of this chair to match their body shape and size. You have the ability to adjust the fore and aft pitch angle of the seat pan, along with the forward tilt of the mesh back using two levers. A third lever adjusts the height of the chair itself. Many similarly-priced and more expensive chairs do not have as many adjustments. When properly adjusted, this chair can support hours of comfortable, extended seated desk work without fatigue. Nonetheless, standing and walking breaks at a regular interval are still encouraged. Moreover, adjustments to the desk and repositioning computer peripherals are also encouraged. For example, ensure that the top of the monitor is positioned at eye level to encourage proper neck positioning. This chair has great value. It holds its ground, but still falls short of high-end chairs such as the Steelcase Leap (2) and the Herman Miller Aeron chairs. You can't expect any miracles at this price point, but this chair beats out many other chairs, including much more expensive options, especially if you value ergonomics over style/appearance and "perceived" but unhealthy comfort in the form of softness and excessive form-fitting that encourages your spine to take on a strained, harmful position for extended use. As a small but significant upgrade, consider the aforementioned Lorell chair which is just slightly pricier, but far easier to assemble and supports the full height of the user's back, especially for taller desk workers. Nonetheless, the seat pan on this chair ever-so-slightly edges out that of the Lorell chair in terms of comfort and form-fitting shape. At six feet in height and an owner of both highly-esteemed chairs, I feel that the chair back is tall enough to support my entire back; however, my experience is just one data point. For one thing, I was able to adjust this chair to perfectly match my desk and my body shape/size, and as someone who has developed spinal kyphosis from extended occupational computer use, I can tell you that this chair is perfectly suited for long-duration computer work. ... show more
