Great looking, very comfortable, well made and sturdy office chair! We love it! This chair was well-packaged and arrived via UPS one day earlier than was originally scheduled. All those "Best Seller" and $100 cheaper office chair versions simply fade in comparison, and we've tried a lot of them. Of course, this chair is still upholstered in bonded leather, which after a few years definitely will start to crack and peal off, but they all do. At least this chair was made with comfort and convenience in mind, heavy usage areas on handles and on the sides of the chair itself are upholstered in fabric, and more importantly - this Hercules Series 500 lb chair can easily hold my 6.2 ft and 200 lbs husband, while hydraulics on many other chairs fail on him after a while. I am sure that if this chair would be upholstered in real leather, then it would cost $800-$1,000, but $207.50 (interestingly, Amazon took from me $211.83, although I am a Prime Member) for upholstered in bonded leather and fabric - it is still a great deal! ... show more

Even though FedEx delivered the box looking as though it had been rolled down several flights of stairs, and kicked for good measure, the chair was in perfect condition. It was understandable why after I began assembling the chair. The thing is built like a tank plain and simple. (Almost busted a gut getting it up the stairs) Now that I have the chair together, I have to say this is quite possibly the best built chair I have ever owned. I'm a big guy and I usually feel nervous leaning back in other chairs, but when I saw how thick the metal is throughout the chair, and how heavy the sucker is, I leaned back and felt zero give anywhere. The arms are thick metal with real chrome, and the base and back are attached with a wide extremely thick plate of metal which attach to those metal arms on the base and back. You are essentially sitting within a basket of metal covered in soft material. The padding is soft and better than my last chair, though it is covered in that cheap leather stuff like all modern chairs. we all know that stuff eventually freys in time, but I think if this frame lasts as long as I expect, I might pay money to just get it reupholstered instead of buying a new chair. (Of course I think this is a long time in the future.) I purchased the roller blade casters with the chair, which does make it sit a bit taller, (even with it all the way down.) Still I think the better casters were worth the thirty something bucks, since the chair comes with the standard plastic ones.     • SAFETY ISSUE!!!!! Also, why did I pay almost $250 for this when it's no different than a Walmart Chair for $50??? RIP OFF

I will start off with the PROs of purchasing this chair: PRO Seller shipped via fedex which ensured prompt shipment (5 days) Box was in good shape and internal components packaged accordingly Padding provides good comfort Base (where wheels are installed) and armrests built with strong/sturdy components/metal Back of chair secures into seat cushion using strong components/metal CON Instructions are incorrect and will cause you to take longer than usual to put together what should be a simple piece of furniture. Questionable design and construction Not entirely stable and does not roll easily -- While sitting the bases moves forward/backward and the wheels are hard to move, does not slide across floor easily With the PROs and CONs being said and having this chair assembled and used for almost 24 hours now I fail to understand why this chair costs almost $250. I wanted a chair that was strong and built to last as opposed to 'garbage' purchased at retailers like Walmart or Target. However, I am a little concerned with how the back of the chair gets secured into the base. I have to think that the average wear and tear, weight/pressure for leaning against the back will potentially harm, if not damage the typical bracket secured to the underside of the seat cushion. It seems comfortable enough for the long hours that I work out of home, however, I will not be surprised if, after another 6 months, this chair is nothing more than scrap. I think this chair should be sold for no more than $150 and asking (approx) $240 for it seems to be a blatant ripoff considering obvious defects with it found thus far. SAFETY ISSUE FOUND!!!! If you work at your desk for extended periods of time and elect not to wear socks or foot attire, the chrome base plate edges are very sharp and will cut into your heel. I am now cleaning up blood all over my office as a result of this. This is a major design flaw. You would think that the edges would be coated or covered with something so that in the event your feet (or any part of your body) comes in contact with this sharp baseplate you will not get hurt as a result. Originally I gave this 3 stars, but given the recent safety issue and previous defects, this chair receives no stars. BUYER BEWARE!!!! ... show more
