After dealing with the company direct from getting a defect (advertised LIKE NEW) from Amazon's warehouse, I can say many great things about this heater, and why it's superior to others... My testing for this unit is done solely indoors (outdoors, ANY 1500w heater will have negligible results!) in my bedroom (9.5'x13'x8', 988 cubic feet, 123 square ft.) that always has a 14" fan going with the door cracked for the cat. This would be somewhat relative to an indoor shop of the same size. Heat is positioned roughly 2.5' from my head with bed inverted, and 3' from my head with the bed flat. Manufactures recommendations ALL furniture no closer than 3', READ INSTRUCTIONS first, whoops! I'm not too concerned, as I only leave this heater unattended on low (750 watts), and honestly rarely use the full 1500 watts, because in this environment, it's overkill. PROS: Customer Service: Flamemore sent out a new replacement unit direct from manufacture after the Amazon warehouse unit came damaged with a flicker on low setting, did not ask to return other unit, turn-around time was FAST/EASY at less than 1 week, manufacture was very understanding! High Quality design: anodized honeycomb aluminum is extremely impressive, up close or from a far -Compact; easy to move or mount -Lightweight; 3.75 lbs makes this unit very easy to work with! -Reflector shape; shape is somewhat triangular which leads to excellent heat dispersion -Reflector material and glare; excellent range from unit, and glare is minimal (see pic for reflector throw) -IP65 rating; designed for outdoor elements, and with water protection in mind, and it shows! Gold Tube Infared Technology: FAST heat felt in 3 sec, in 1 min-everything within 4' is warm, in 5 min-heat felt at 8', I usually never have it on past a half hour, because that's all I need. On-board control with remote: My #1 reason for purchasing! Simple single button mode toggle, most heaters in this price range ONLY work via the remote; lose the remote-lose operation (use) of heater! Quiet Operation: unit has a modest hum to it similar to fluorescent lights, though much quieter with softer tone, 40db or less, and one audible click 3-5 min after heater is turned off. Remote Control: remote MUST be pointed DIRECTLY at unit, but works from long range; max distance I was able to test was 18' -Simple three button remote, and one remote works on multiple heaters of the same model! Wall or Ceiling mountable: this unit does not have tip-over protection, which I prefer, and can be mounted at any angle -Mine is actually inverted upside down, for ideal button placement and cable management, (see mounting pic) -It should be noted that if using the supplied mounts, the maximum level of articulation is roughly 45 degrees Safety Protection: EL rated-should the unit get too hot, it will shut itself off. A/C Cable: Thick, high gauge wire, made to handle 1500 watts 24/7/365, and long enough at 6' Rear Ventilation: cold temps makes electrical components work more efficiently and last longer, unit still IP65 rated with rear vents! Incredible how many units are produced without any ventilation, which takes life off the all electrical components and bulb life! Simplicity: small, compact, lightweight, great form and function, everything is easy to use/understand/install/modify! Keep It Simple Sally... CONS: Break in Flicker: After my replacement unit came in, the first day and a half it would flicker on low only. Afterwards, unit is very stable, and any flicker from the electric ballast is only slightly noticeable on low, 750w only, with all the lights off. I'm guessing shipping is what causes this. No Timer Function: (this is negligible to me, and adds to the simplicity of unit, since most timers only work in hours, I need minutes) Only 2 Modes: low-750 watts and high-1500 watts, would be nice to see 1 or 2 more modes, 600-900-1200-1500 would be ideal! *These types of heaters aren't effective at less than 600 watts, so a 500-1000-1500 would be pointless... Brackets/Hardware: while they do the job, and get it done, it would be great to see a one-piece unit, or have hardware and brackets anodized black. Wing nuts are pointless as you need a ratchet on the other side. 4 supplied screws with 4 plastic drywall expansion anchors are minimal to mount IMO, see bracket/screw pics) How the story goes: I was able to save some money buying a returned product to Amazon for $65, however, that product was defective. When I installed it, the first 2-3 minutes on LOW would be perfect, but then the product would flicker (not like a light bulb, more like a random change of small intensities), and remain that way until it was turned off. The flicker was even noticeable with standard room lights on, and was extremely annoying. After emailing Flamemore, and providing them with the necessary information, I was pleased to hear right away that a replacement would be shipping out, easy! Good customer service is my #1 reason to buy any product, this one here I took a gamble with few reviews. New unit arrives exactly 7 working days later. Unit is installed same day and tested. At first, things weren't looking good. The flicker was back, easily noticeable even with on the lights on. It remained that way for the first 36 hrs or so. The second night, I had hardly any flicker, and whatever was transmitted, was only noticeable with the lights off. The third night I had small 2-3% changes that occurred every once in a while, at random, and this was only noticeable if I was looking straight at the wall's reflection. Ever since, it's remained that way, with only the smallest of intensity changes that are hardly noticeable. I have no other units to test this condition against, but my guess is that all low end Infrared heaters have some level of degradation on lower wattage/heat settings. * I will update should this flicker condition worsen, 10/25/22* I have to say I am extremely pleased with this unit. It makes such a change getting up in the morning or late at night, and has helped my sleeping manners even as early as October. My room heats up roughly 1.5 degrees in 30 min of leaving it on low, and that makes all the difference in the world. I also can't say how pleased I am with customer service taking care of me directly, promptly, and professionally, and that speaks volumes about a product! FYI- There are two of the same pics (first two...?) detailing the heat settings and their related throw, taken with room lights ON. One pic is much brighter than the other, the bright pic is 1500w, the dim is 750w...

Added a swivel and mounted this under the eave near an outdoor pool shower. Puts out nice radiant heat to make the shower more pleasant on those cooler nights. The unit is not going to heat up a large open area, but it sure helps keep you feeling warmer anywhere near the thing. Need to plug into an outlet on a 20 amp breaker, it will trip a 15 amp breaker.

I have a bathroom on the north side of house. It is always cold in the winter. Heaters that are noisy are to much noise . I love that it warms the warms the air. I can set it on low and go to bed then in the morning walk into my warm bathroom ! I will update my review after a little more time has passed

Installed on dedicated circuitry. Units come on and within seconds turn off. Have contacted service twice directly as instructed on paperwork with no responses. Have gone through Amazon to contact twice and no response and now out of warranty for A-Z return. Not even trying to get refund, just help to diagnose issue out of the box and no one bothers to respond. I would suggest avoiding this company at all costs as if you get a defective one, you’ll be out of luck. Maybe but maybe someone from this company might actually care enough to read there comments and take time to reply.

Obviously easy to buy, fast Amazon shipping and a courteous delivery. The remote worked for a while, then stopped. I have it mounted under a over hang to keep me warm while I smoke my cigars. The light is SO Bright that using it after dark makes me feel like I’m on display in the red light district. Now, the bright light is fluctuating from bright to really really bright and is simply too annoying to keep using as nothing about an outdoor, heated strobe light helps anyone relax. I’ve had it for two months and when I went to Amazon about it they told me to kick rocks, it has been too long to replace so I guess I’m stuck with it. All in all I used if 5 times for less than an hour each time which equates to about 11 dollars an hour to operate less Additional power consumption. It seemed like a solid little heater and maybe I just got a bad apple but this is my experience and like the title says, I think you could do better.

I live in the south US, and anyone who lives here or follows the news is probably aware that the winter of 2020 was pretty brutal for those of us who are used to wearing long sleeves for maybe one week (total) between December and March. So I’m getting ready this year, and this heater is a piece of my strategy. I found it quick and easy to install (about 15-20 minutes, tops). The directions aren’t perfect but it’s pretty straightforward, and I don’t install much myself! The remote control is intuitive and responsive, and the heater gives out a good amount of heat to cover a 4 ft diameter outdoor table with 4 chairs around it. So I’m happy. Now to wait for a chance to really use it - of course I finally prepare for something and we end up having a record warm winter (so far). Eh, I’m happy to wait a few years for the next snowstorm. This heater seems pretty well-made, so I imagine it will last for quite a while.

I bought this heater last winter and used it downstairs when it got really cold a few times. I just went to turn it on for the first time this winter and all the lights come on and work, but none of the heater part is working anymore.

Mounted next to my fan to help disperse the heat more quickly (and not start my garage on fire...). Temps stayed pretty cold in Wisconsin this spring (below freezing) until early May. Turned this bad-boy up to the "high heat" setting and I could comfortably work in just a hoodie in under an hour. Turned it down to the "low heat" setting and my detached insulated 1-car garage stayed perfectly warm!
