Finally set these up and love the solution. Even a pro HVAC Duct worker with all their gadgets can’t provide a solution this good. Even if they perfectly balance your vents you don’t have the control to modify anything on the fly. These vents allow constant modifications to allow the perfect temp in each room. As for value, these are by far more cost effective vs hiring an HVAC company. I also love the way the diffuser works and looks. The sizing was perfect as well. The response time is obviously better if you have a great network all over your home, but will still work at a distance. Overall I am very happy I bought these for my home. The Flair vents are sick—in the best way. Upstairs, I’ve got three bedrooms on their own HVAC unit. It was like a Goldilocks story up there: one room was too hot, one was too cold, and one was juuust right. To fix this, I installed three Flair smart vents (8x8, 10x10, and 6x14). I already had a Honeywell T9 thermostat, but I leveled up by adding smart room sensors for each bedroom. To tie everything together, I got a Flair puck, which acts as the hub and the middleman between the vents and the internet. The puck lives in the hallway, diligently managing the system. My goal was simple: when Bedroom 1 hits its target temp, its vent closes. Same with Bedrooms 2 and 3. Flair works really well with the Honeywell sensors to make this happen. Now, about that guest bathroom vent. I left it unchanged because I worried about backflow pressure—if all the vents closed while the HVAC unit kept running, it could damage the system. Flair has an algorithm to prevent this by keeping vents open, but it wasn’t exactly what I needed. Flair’s default is to keep two vents open at all times, but I only wanted one. So...I lied to Flair (sorry, Flair). By telling it I had more vents, I got it to work the way I wanted. Play with that at your own risk. FYI, the guest bathroom vent is now the designated “always-open” vent, but flair always ensures that one of the flair vents are always open. I also set the system to fully open all vents when the unit switches to circulation mode (just moving air around, not heating or cooling). The result? Flawless. Seriously, I barely even notice it’s there—it just works. Once you’ve set it up to your liking, maintenance is practically nonexistent. It’s one of those systems you forget about because it’s doing its job so well. Buy them now before the HVAC contractors find a way to put them out of business. Far superior system in both terms of cost and efficiency than your standard HVAC approach. Eventually, I want to do the same thing downstairs, but that is going to be it's own animal to tackle. These are great, when they work like they are intended. For all of the other times, it is extremely frustrating and I really wish I would have looked into the company and their support structure a little further. The single biggest point of frustration for me is that there is no live support option. You have to send an email to their support email box and just wait for a response and then go back and forth with them until your issues are resolved. There's not even a live chat option. The products seem to be extremely touchy. My current problem is the vents keep resetting the mode that the Thermostat is in to Heat, even after I manually update it to Cool. This results in the vents operating off the wrong trigger temperatures and defeating the entire purpose of having them. Great thought and idea for the product, but awful execution in terms of support structure for working through buggy systems and issues. **5/23/2023 Update** Now, when the Air Conditioning is on, half of my vents say they have poor signal and just stay closed. They've not moved, the pucks haven't moved so I'm not sure what is causing it but the problems coincided with the transition from Furnace use to Air Conditioning use. 10/9/2023 Update Flair vents and pucks are doing the exact same thing as before, but in the inverse where they wo t register a change from cooling to heating. Update to reflect 1 star. A "smart" device shouldn't require constant oversight and manual interference for them to work properly. Avoid until they figure out how to offer live tech support and/or build a more reliable back end. ... show more
