This review is for the fishkeeper Aquarium Light, 42W Full Spectrum Fish Tank Light with Timer, 24/7 Mode Sunrise/Daylight/Moonlight, Adjustable Brightness, for 47"-54" Freshwater Fish & Planted Tanks. I got this full spectrum light in the 42W, 47 inch-54 inch. It's very similar to the name brand one I had gotten, this one is slightly bigger than it and it's a little lower priced. I'm gathering the needed equipment to get my tanks set back up as I miss my fish. I have several BIG tanks. The old lights I had were the old florescent type, figured I would like to get them set back up with some newer equipment that is available. This light will sit nicely on top of my BIG long flat back modified hexagon acrylic tank. It's really light weight for it's size, which I appreciate so it does not kill my back, but seems made of good strong aluminum with a vented housing to dissipate heat. And happy with a single light that it can light the entire tank up with all the LEDS. Love all the different lighting options on this for cycles/timer/intensity/colors.... it should be fantastic for the fish and all the plants I like to keep in my freshwater tanks. This was delivered well packed safely in it's box inside the shipping box. I appreciated it was kept clean/dry/undamaged despite our crazy weather. I think the quality/attributes/use I will get out of this VS the regular price of $64.99 per the listing it's a worthwhile investment. And there is a coupon right now for 10% off 2 or more. I'm running this light on a 75 gallon tank with no plants at the moment. For it's current use, it's awesome. It's simple to adjust to where it only runs when we want it to. Once I put plants in, I'll update the review. It's a sleek-looking light! Barely a half inch thick it looks like, and it puts out a solid amount of light at full brightness. I have it set to minimum brightness on the full whit/blue spectrum and it still accents the tank beautifully. The lens/cover for the LEDs is just a flimsy sheet of plastic, so I wouldn't dare to get it very wet. But at this price point, I'm not asking for the world and don't mind. Programming the timer is super simple once you read the instructions, you can't set anything super specific, but it gives you good options for adjusting the light every 6 hours. I'm satisfied with this light in a fish-only tank. The blues and whites look super clean, and you have the option for other RGB colors if wanted. Definitely recommended. ... show more

    • Nice light if not using a smart plug or timer

My initial impression of this fixture is positive. Reasonably bright over an open top tank, and a pleasant default color temp/spectrum. Fits my standard dimension, rimmed 75gallon fine. I'm using this light over a low-tech planted aquarium running at 25% brightness for 10 hour intervals. As with all of this style of light I've tried, the 24 hour photo-period is too long and too bright for my needs. I would love to have more programmability (create my own cycle and adjust color temps throughout that cycle, etc), but the only fixtures I've found that gave me all the options I want are over 3X more expensive. I don't use any of the unnatural color options or color change mode. Can't imagine why anyone would, but to each their own I guess. My biggest complaint is the same complaint I have about every single one of the less expensive LED fixtures I've tried. I want to use my own smart plugs, but this fixture defaults to off if power is removed and then restored. Same thing for a power outage by the way. If you have a power outage longer than a few seconds, the light will default to off when power is restored. It takes manually resetting the mode/timer before the lights will come back on. That's a problem if you travel for work like I do. Each light I've bought with this issue, I wait for the warranty to end and then I rewire them with a different LED controller. Not difficult if you know what you're doing, but not a solution for most folks I'd guess. Hopefully one day companies will change their default programming to make using smart plugs/timers possible. ... show more

The quality of the fish tank lamp is very good, the design is reasonable and the workmanship is also very good. the five rows of lights are very effective. The size is consistent with the introduction, and the installation is simple. Full spectrum fish tank lights are ok, I like them. You can freely adjust the intensity of the light tone. When adjusted, this price is okay. Personally, I feel that the luminous light blue is very beautiful, and the red effect is also great. The best part is that you can set the color and intensity yourself. You can slowly adjust the color you want by yourself, it's amazing. The most important thing is that you can also set different light cycles from sunrise to sunset, which is really affordable and high-end. The only thing I'm worried about is the heating problem. I don't know if it's because of my high power, but this lamp generates more heat than my previous lamp! ... show more

I like 24hr modes on aquarium lights. The thing that bugs me about other lights is that they all have "moonlight" mode that so the light never actually turns off. I prefer that they turn off at night when following the 24hr cycle. This one also has no moonlight mode. It turns off at 11:30pm and back on at 8am if you set the time right. It also has a timer mode but I don't use that. I have had some issues with the light not turning on after turning it off via the power button. This might be the power pack. They sometimes don't like no power being drawn and stop working correctly. It happened a couple of times while testing but seems to be working ok for now. The light is plenty bright for what I want and seems to give full spectrum ( I can't test this as I have no equipment to do so). My fish are happy as are my plants so its all good. ... show more
