This product looks beautiful when you first get it. The customization is fabulous when it worked and once you set it up. The storm feature and so on loose their interest and are really only for showing it off to others. The fish HATE the flashing lights and it gets annoying and repetitive quickly. But here is the kicker.... It DOES NOT WORK AFTER ABOUT 9 months to a year. I'm so serious! I read up on aquarium lights extensively!!! Please believe me and the other negative reviews. Pay attention to the fsct that most of the positive reviews are from NEW OWNERS ONLY. For people who've had it longer than the warranty period like me, we are out of any chance of having ehat we paid into it be worth anything. I read up on the comparisons between all the other big brands and even yhe cheaper versions. From Fluval, Hygger, Beamsworks, NiCrew, Current USA, Mingdak, Aquaneat, Aqueon, and even other Finnex lights and the off brands. I would say that the Current USA, NiCrew, Fluval, and Hygger are your better bets. I read the reviews on all and not only on Amazon. I literally read ecery article I could find that had also researched this very this and wrote up on the top recommended brands and why. The truth is I believed all the good reviews and the stupid stars etc. I wish I had researched how long the lights would last. So I am telling you, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SPEND THE EXTRA FEW ON ANOTHER BRAND! AMAZON should allow this review because I am trying my best to not be hateful and furious like I feel, but also because this is the absolute 100% truth! I am giving you the reader of these reviews the chance I didn't take, and I beg you to take it. I would love for my lesson to be to your advantage so that maybe their is some redeeming value in my huge monetary loss. I was going to go with the Current USA brand or the Hygger versions myself if I hadnt bought this one. They have very favorable reviews. So do the bulb versions too sinve apparently they at least seem to last longer or you can replace the bulbs instead of the light. I didn't go that route because it was even more money. I thought I was saving money and getting the best deal for all my reading. I read for days. My husband would even guarantee that sinve he kept asking me if I had made up my mind. PLEASE DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THE POSITIVE REVIEWS on this product. Im telling you it will be beautiful....for a only a very short time. You will probably get maybe a year if you are lucky! Just got two on amazon and its working well. Not as bright as my finnex DS its replacing but the changing 24/7 mode is very nice. Not too red of a sunset which i was worried about. What i love is that i got two and can control them with ONE remote!!! Also you can control the 24h colors if you are not happy with the spectrums. One month edit: After using it for a month i have to say this light is great. Plants are growing well and the RGB LEDs make colors pop nicely. Im in love with my guppies all over again and my red cherry shrimp have never looked redder. I got a cover for the tank as its recommended so the light is not exposed to access moisture and splash. This should make it last longer. I edited the light cycle so it has 6 hours of night darkness which is great. Extended the daylight bring cycle to 6 to get more growth out of the plants. The rest is a slow morning and evening rev up and down which looks great and now i can finally enjoy my tank all day!!! Recommend 100% ... show more

I bought this light to grow plants in my 60 gallon. Its bright enough to provide moderate light to the 2 foot bottom depth and I like the preprogrammed 24 hour cycle. Lightening and cloud cover functions are a bit silly in my opinion but the rest of the customization settings are a great feature. You're able to even customize the 24 hour setting with some effort. I like the slim profile, its very light weight, and the legs inserted easily and it sits firmly on the tank rim above my glass covers. It runs fairly cool and the remote works well. After just a week the plants in my tank are greening up and starting to put up new growth. My only major complaint about the product is that it seems for a few dollars more they could put an IP rated cover over the lights making them safe from occasional water splashes and such, this product does sit above a box of water for its life time. It would also be nice if they gave a breakdown of which spectrums and what intensities the light emitted but I guess that varies on the application. All that said, for the price, you won't find this same light or customization in any pet store unless the light is on clearance. Its bright and the set and forget feature is gold. ... show more

I found the automatic function and timer to be useless. The custom setting doesn't allow the lights to come on at a specific setting. IE if you want the light to come on at 8am it will turn on at 6am at the lowest light and build up to full light at 8am. Same for night. That's 4 hours total of unwanted algae- blooming light. I run them on an outside timer. I run two of them on a 20 long. One is more like medium light and the spread isn't enough for the width of most tanks. Plants will lean toward the light. These are good low light options since you can adjust the color spectrum but there are better options for one light bar considering the price for 2 of these. That said though the color rendering is great and they don't cause the " disco effect " seen with other lower-end light bars. The plants love them and they've been durable so far and that's what really matters. ... show more

I’ve only had it for a few days, but I love it so far! It’s super sleek on top of my 20 high. The default 24/7 mode is pretty nice, however, I spent a little extra time making custom settings to give the plants more time under max light and 6 hours of darkness. I like how it ramps up or down towards your next setting so the fish get a gradual change instead of a rude awakening. ... show more

This Finnex light is thin and sexy. It looks great sitting on my 55 and wow does it put out the light! The 24-hour preset cycle is perfect and made it so I didn't have to fiddle with setting up a 24-hour cycle. That being said, I could if I wanted to! One thing to keep in mind, this is an IR remote and could interfere with your Roku or TV type device :) ... show more
