Pattern Name: Smart Door Lock with Gateway
This Tilvision WiFi Smart Door Lock is a really nice keyless lock. I've been using it for about a week now and here are the PROS and CONS based on my experience: PROS: -Their customer service is OUTSTANDING (more details below)! -Installation was very quick and easy. Just make sure you measure your door BEFORE you order this to verify it will work with your door. -The fingerprint keyless entry is very convenient and easy to setup. -The passcode keyless entry is very convenient and easy to setup. The only downside is it requires the passcode to be at least 6 digits long (I prefer to use 4-digit passcodes -- but that's just a minor inconvenience and not enough to lower the star rating). -It looks nice and visually appealing. -The smart phone app that controls the lock is very easy to use (very user-friendly UI / design). CONS: -The instruction manual is not very detailed. I was able to figure most of it out pretty easily, but there were a few areas that I struggled with (especially connecting it to Alexa). -The Alexa integration is not as flawless as it could/should be (but they are aware of this and working on improvements). Dealing with the Alexa integration, I really struggled to make that work. I used the Gateway, connected it to Alexa, I could lock the door via the Alexa voice command, but it had problems unlocking the door via the Alexa voice command. Whenever I would tell Alexa to unlock the door (and provide the passcode), the deadbolt would retract and fully unlock the door, but then, after that, it would pop back out slightly -- but enough to where the door would remain locked. I contacted their customer service via email, and they replied immediately. We went back and forth over the course of 2 days, troubleshooting and trying different things, and we eventually found a solution. If you have problems controlling the lock via Alexa, these are the steps that eventually fixed it for me: 1. Disconnect the lock from Alexa. 2. Have Alexa rediscover the lock but DO NOT attempt to control the lock via Alexa yet! 3. Wait approximately 2 minutes after connecting the lock to Alexa. 4. After 2 minutes, unlock the door from the panel via your fingerprint or via the passcode. 5. Re-lock the door via the # symbol on the front panel. 6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 a few times -- this will just force the lock to sync with Alexa. 7. After that, then use the Alexa app or the Alexa voice command to lock/unlock the door. It should work this time! Overall, I am happy with the lock now. I was very frustrated in the beginning, but their customer service was outstanding, very easy to work with, and very professional. Now that I have the lock working as expected, I love it and I would recommend this to others!
