What size pools will the heater work with? The FH255 will heat pools up to 10,000 gallons, 21' round, or 15' x 30' oval. Is it saltwater compatible? Yes, the FH255 along with all of our other heat pumps are compatible with both freshwater and saltwater pools. How long does installation take? Installation takes roughly 45-60 minutes. How can I optimize the unit's performance? The FH255 will work best in humid climates and above 60 degrees Fahrenheit. As the air gets dryer and the temperature lower, the performance of the unit will decrease. How warm will my pool get with the heater? The unit is rated to heat 10,000-gallon pools up to 82 degrees under optimal conditions. After wasting about $300 trying to make a solar pool heater using polyethylene tubing (search youtube and you'll see some designs, trust me, they don't work!). I decided to invest in this heat pump. Prior to purchasing, I had several questions and the staff over at FibroPool were prompt to reply and answer my questions. The pump arrived in perfect condition via a freight trucker. The installation was a breeze (I am fairly handy though). I put my heater on a homemade plywood base with locking casters so I can move it and store it away at the end of the season. I also installed it about 15 feet away from the pool so I had to run some 1.5" pvc piping up and across my covered patio. I live in the NYC area and put up an 8'x16'x42" Intex pool every year in our small backyard for the kids. We only get about 3 hours of sunlight due to the shadows caused by the house and detached garage, so the pool only heats up to about 77 degrees on its own. Fine for the kids, but not my wife and I. We like it warmer. I set this bad boy to 88'F and turn it on in the morning before I leave for work. It's up to 88'F a few hours later and the wife and kids are enjoying the pool all afternoon. I enjoy it myself in the evenings. This heater is a beast! We got back from vacation the other day and the pool temp had dropped to 72'F. I put the pump on at 7:30 in the morning and it was 88'F by mid-afternoon. I love this thing. It was the best investment for my pool. Another great feature, the heater blows cold air out of the fan while operating, so it cools off my covered patio while I sit back there and work on my laptop. It's a win-win. If you can swing it, go for it. I believe it has a 10 year warranty or something like that so that's also what sold me on it. I also bought their jandy style 2" 3-way valve and designed a diverter with some pvc fittings which sends the pump water to the pool heater with a simple turn. I bought this heater for a 10,000 gal in ground pool. The installation was easy, you can find a detailed installation video on youtube if you look for the model and brand that is very helpful. It took a couple of days to get the water to the desired temperature (97F) but my kids had use it daily since. We stopped using the pool in September last year due to the low temperature of the water that has been at least below 74 F so I decided to invest in this heater to be able to get the most out of the pool and it has worth every penny so far. It has consumed an average of 16kWh per day but I have noticed that for the last four days that have been hot outside (above 90F during the day) it consumes around 8 kWh daily to keep the temperature at 97F. I cover the pool at nights with a solar plastic cover and it had helped the pool to avoid heat loss. The heater is quite and easy to program and use. I definitely recommend this heater if you want to get the pool experience to the next level.

Great heater that works seamlessly with our pool pump. Living in Hawaii with warm, humid weather the pump works perfectly. We set it at 86 degrees and it turns off throughout most of the day at that setting (summer in Kona). We lose a couple of degrees overnight but the FH 255 model warms up our 10,000 gallon pool quickly. Best decision we’ve made in a long time.

This has been a 2 week long nightmare. Paid an electrician, paid a plumber, got everything all hooked up and then the fan won’t work. Called electrician back out again, not an electrical problem. Every time I call the company I get a fax machine tone. Now I am going to have to pay a pool professional to come out next or figure out a way to return this huge heater. I’ve spent way to much money on this and can’t even get the customer service help I need… Update, after paying for a pool repair man to service the fan and fix the broken parts, fibropool said to send them the invoice and now they aren’t going to reimburse any of the money I had to pay for their broken equipment, I’m so disgusted. Buyer beware!!

So far so good. Our pool has a lot of shade so the water would get cold. This counters that out. It runs when the pool pump does and my pool is about 20k gallons in ground (so the heater is undersized). It keeps the water much closer to ambient temperatures which is what we wanted, we're not trying to swim in the winter. I'm thinking about adding a second one. We have a giant solar system so it's free for us to run them. You have to plumb this in front of the chlorinator, I also installed a tee at the unit so I could gravity drain the unit. I put a tee after my filter, and a check valve on the return line so I could bypass the heater in the winter. On their web site you can buy a controller relocation kit for 45 dollars

Adding this heater has extended the season for comfortable swimming for our grandkids. The heater easily got the temp of a 6,000 gal pool up to 90 degrees. Using a solar cover when not in use helps hold in the heat. The kids can stay in all day now. I added this heater and central air at the same time, so I don't know exactly how much the heater costs to run, but both additions cost less than the 5 window ACs I used last year. In order to keep warrantee in force, the unit must be installed by a licensed electrician. I had mine wired to my RV power pole. The heater only runs when water is flowing through it. So, to keep the temp steady I run my filter 24/7 and the heater kicks on when needed. You can also wire it so that the heater kicks on the filter. I chose not to do that because when it's hot out the filter wouldn't run much. Plumbing between filter and pool was easy and I did that myself. I suggest using a short piece of solid PVC at the heater compression connections and gluing a male adapter of the necessary size to screw into your filter lines. Added bonus, when the heater runs the fan blows cool air and you can sit comfortably near it. Very happy with this purchase!

This is one of the most rewarding additions to our pool and has allowed us to swim year round. The unit is surprisingly energy efficient, not too large, easy to install and not too loud. We absolutely love ours and would recommend it to anyone.
