  • Excellent company to deal with
Style: Original Model
I received this shredder just yesterday. When I assembled it I saw that the window in the basket (drawer) that holds the shredded paper was cracked. Initially I was upset thinking that I’d have to repack the entire item and send it back to Amazon. But then I spotted a form from Fellowes among the papers that were included with the shredder that stated that if the buyer had any questions or comments they should ocall Fellowes customer support. I called and within a few short minutes I was instructed to email a copy of the invoice from Amazon together with the serial number of the shredder to Fellowes and they would replace the basket. I did that late yesterday afternoon, and this morning I received an email from Fellowes telling me that I will be receiving a new basket within 5 to 7 days. This shredder is replacing a similar model Fellowes that I purchased over 25 years ago. The basket and the frame supporting the shredder which also houses the basket is not as substantial as my old Fellowes shredder (of course I’m not as substantial as I was 25 years ago either) but I’m sure that this one will hold up for a good number of years. And if it doesn’t I’m sure Fellowes will make things right. It’s a welcome pleasure doing business with a company that is responsive and stands by it’s products ... show more

  • This shredder is sooooo quiet!! It shreds to micro pieces. Love it!
Style: Original Model
I can't remember when I purchased it but I've ha it for quite a while. I either bought it in 2021 or early 2022 and it still shreds really quiet. It shreds to micro pieces. It has a lock/unlock feature. It's drawer is easy to pull out and not too heavy to empty. Basically there is not anything that I don't like about it. It does its job well!! Glad I purchased it! But do use Shredder oil in it because it will last you a very long time if you continue to lubricate it!! ... show more

  • Small Feeding Slot
Style: Original Model
This is the third shredder I have had since around 1995. The first only lasted a couple years, so when I replaced it, I didn't want to use an off-brand, so I got a Fellowes unit. It lasted till July this year, so about 25 years, including a move. When it gave up the ghost, I did my EE best, but it appeared that an IC had quit and I really didn't feel like debugging it more. Since that Fellowes had lasted so long, I wanted to go back to the same brand, and found this one available on Prime Day. This one is very quiet and cuts the paper into really small pieces, so good on those counts. The only issue I have is that it has a skinny feed slot with no taper going in, so you have to really line up the paper to go in. My last one had a rather large, tapered slot, so the paper pretty much found its own way in. Since I don't have to do a lot of shredding, I figure I can deal with this for the next 25 years. A bonus I didn't notice is that this unit has wheels, so it can be easily moved, where my last two units didn't have this feature. All-in-all, a good machine, but the small slot keeps me from giving five stars. ... show more

  • Worth the $$
Style: New Model
I’ve only had this for a few days so an update review may come up: I have worked this shredder like a work horse since the day it arrived. Since everything is digital I’ve let go of the hoarding I was doing on non-essential paper. Not only does it do the job it does it with less volume than the cross shredder I used to have. I think someone mentioned that paper shreds end up behind the bin but I have found this to be extremely minimal. I also love the fact that you can buckle it down for safety back power button top safety lock or just tugging lever to stop. I have a young child and between all that he can’t accidentally shred papers that I do need. ... show more

  • Shoulda Coulda Woulda
Style: Original Model
Fellows used to be "the standard" in home office products but the quality has definitely gone down hill. The bin on this model is made of a cheap plastic that warps. Bags dont fit snug and the static generated by the shredding of paper is amplified. Its relatively new so I expect that it works as it should for now, but I will be keeping a close eye on the quality of the motor and blades. ... show more

  • DO NOT SHRED AMAZON CREDIT CARDS!!!
Style: Original Model
Fellowes 3103201 Powershred W11C: Shreds 11 sheets into 431 (5/32 x1-3/8" Security Level P-4) Fellowes 4685101 Microshred 62MC: Shreds 10 sheets into 2011 (7/64"x 25/64" Security Level P- 5) We owned the Fellowes 3103201 Powershred W11C (security level rating P-4) for over 12 years until we attempted to shred our Amazon credit. That completely jammed up and permanently broke the shredder with which we've never had a problem. As a replacement we purchased the Fellowes 4685101 Microshred 62MC (security level rating P-5). This shredder is a work horse! It went through a 1.5" high stack of presorted papers without ever needing a cool down. I couldn't believe it. Because it shreds into such small pieces I didn't even need to empty the bin in between. Now there are shipping/packaging issues with this shredder. They ship this with the heavy motor/cutting blades placed inside the plastic shell of a pull-out bin. The first shredder we received had cracks on the motor housing as well as the walls of the bin. The second shredder had pieces of the frame from the top of the clear plastic window of the bin broken off in the box. We ended up keeping that one since it's still usable and the damage is mostly cosmetic. Both shredders work great and will last however, we will never again attempt to shred our Amazon credit cards. In small print on the back bottom of the card it actually says "Contains Metal DO NOT SHRED". I didn't see it when I was shredding it along with all of our other cards but have now learned a hard lesson. Hopefully this information helps with your purchasing decision. ... show more

  • Much quieter that an older Fellows Shredder
Style: New Model
We have had a Fellows shredder for years. I have been able to keep it running using various tricks but it finally died. Purchased this one and started using it right out of the box. This is much quieter that the old one. I shredded a pile of paper and it stopped in the middle of a page. I just left it and in about a half hour latter noticed the paper was now gone. So when it cooled down, it just picked up where it left off. I am hoping to get many years of use from this shredder. ... show more

  • Does the job but..?
Style: Original Model
This shredder does the job but I'm wondering about how long it will last. It was almost whisper quiet but after emptying the bucket a couple times the cutters are starting to squeak.
