I was just getting started in my sourdough journey, and this kit was perfect. Everything is really high quality, easy to use, and works like a charm. The only thing I would do differently is to have the sticker already attached to the glass. I had to put it on myself, and it was not easy. Otherwise, the jar is a good size, and the wand/stick to mix the starter works great, is easy to clean, and overall it just works.

So far, this has been great. It’s a sturdy glass container with a nice wide opening. The stir stick is great quality with an edge on one side to scrape the starter. I’m currently trying to make my own starter and it’s nice to have the elastic cloth top as well as the plastic top for when my starter finally is active. The band is convenient as it has the days and times. You just line it up so you don’t forget when you fed it last. The thermometer sticker that comes with it is also helpful. My starter has been taking a lot of time, but I think it’s because our house is too cool. If I didn’t have the thermometer sticker, I probably would’ve gotten more frustrated. The jar also shows how many milliliters are currently in the jar and it has a sticker on it that shares how much the jar actually weighs which is super convenient because I forgot to weigh the jar before I started the whole process. Now I will never forget! Overall, this is an excellent starter kit. I feel like it gives you everything you need. Although this is my first time making sourdough, but so far I haven’t felt like I needed anything else. (other than the scale, but I already have one of those.)

Heavy Glass and super shape to grow a starter. I am so happy with this sour dough starter kit. It has everything needed for a first time breadmaker. I love that it comes with a self stick thermometer and the elastic band to measure your starter growth. In addition, the silicone lud and the cloth lid give great options for covering your starter. This is a great jar. Wide enough mouth for easy cleaning. The two different “toppers” cover both storage & fermenting. The band lets you keep track of feed times and the rise. I’ll be ordering a second set. Also, I contacted KNEADACE with a concern & got a rapid response and the issue resolved. “Issue” was my fault. 🥴

This jar is perfect for those new to creating a sourdough starter (that’s me 🤣) Everything, from the time band, the thermometer, to the skinny spatula and silicone cover, all make it less intimidating for someone just starting out! I am in the Northeast, where it is freezing and very dry right now, so I have been putting my starter inside the oven with the light on at night, when we keep our house cooler. The thermometer allowed me to see that putting the jar right next to the oven light with the oven door closed was a bit too warm, but moving the jar to the opposite side of the oven away from the light, puts it at a perfect 75-79F range. The silicone cover was the key to my starter not crusting over and preventing growth - I had reached out to Meni (CEO) and asked how to resolve the dry layer on top because it’s been so cold here, he suggested putting the silicone cover on top and it was exactly what it needed. Oh, and let’s talk about customer service…. Meni personally answered every single question I sent to him, and helped me to have a very successful first bake (yesterday) with a very young starter (12 days old at time of making bread). Between emails back and forth, and the extremely helpful walkthrough videos available (I am a ‘need to see it’ kind of person), this newbie was able to bake sourdough 🤣 I need to mention the quality of the packaging as well (for all of these products). I understand that it is not important to everyone, but I feel if a company takes time and effort (and $$$) to present their products in a nice way, it speaks volumes. The packaging is very high quality and esthetically pleasing, and it is clear that a lot of attention goes toward presentation. Quality products AND quality packaging - I have no hesitation purchasing more products from KneadAce.

Very happy with this purchase, sure beats the mason jar I had been using. The wide mouth makes adding flour a LOT less messy, the shape makes for easy cleanup after pouring out starter for a recipe or discard, and the included stirrer/scraper is great at helping clean most of the starter off the the sides. The cloth cover for countertop storage and a silicone one for fridge storage are a nice bonus .
