I have this in my hobby greenhouse to control the fans during the warm season. The controller will be more important in the fall and spring, when the temps are more variable. At first I thought it didn't work, because the fans didn't turn off when the thermometers hanging in my greenhouse clearly showed the temp was lower than the controller threshold (should have turned off at 70F, and air temp was 62F). BUT when I came back from getting a meat thermometer to measure the air temp right next to the controller the fans had turned off. I measured the air temp next to the controller and realized the rock on the ground had retained quite a bit of heat and the temp had been about 10 degrees warmer down there! I use it to have fans turn on automatically for my outside animals. Turns on at stated temperature, right around 80. I'm gone at work during the day and so I used to have to turn the fans on before I left the house; 1- I was wasting energy having the fans run while it was still cool just so they could be on when it got hotter and 2- I don't have to worry if I forgot to turn them on. The only minor inconvenience is it doesn't shut off until it is almost 70 so I have to manually turn the fans off and turn back on under 70 because I don't need to use the energy to run the fans below 80. I use these in my horse barn to automatically turn on fans. The horses really appreciate the breeze when it gets hot, humid and stuffy, and I appreciate not having to remember to turn fans on and off, or paying the extra electricity by leaving them on all the time. My barn dog has a fan in his area plugged into one of these. Of course, they would be great for people too! They are not impervious to burning out / power surges...I had to purchase these this year because my 3-4 year old ones burned out. Worth the cost and Amazon had the lowest price on the internet. Only complaint...it was orange colored when it arrived, not ivory like the item pictured. ... show more
