  • Great price and good function
I recently tested a thermal camera, and it truly impressed with its versatility and performance. The image quality is sharp, even in complete darkness, revealing temperature differences with remarkable clarity. The device excels at detecting heat signatures, whether for home inspections, wildlife observation, or industrial use. • Lives up to the descriptive hype very nicely. Excellent range of use.
This product is extremely well described on the product information page here, and is easily up to expectations during my first week of use. It comes with a carrying case, neck strap, and USB-C (or USB-A, as both adaptors are present) to USB-C charging cable as well as a well-written printed user manual. Interestingly, the unit works wonderfully as a stud finder on external walls where there's a clear temperature difference on the inside demonstrating where the studs are located. The unit connects to a MacBook Pro easily, charging directly from the USB-C port, and quickly allowing all photos taken with the device to be accessed in the Finder without needing any accessory software. Live View on a Mac doesn't work with Photo Booth or FaceTime, which seems to be due to an Apple OS 15 glitch with UVC cameras rather than a problem with the camera, which is properly detected in both applications. In the meantime, the unit easily connects via wifi to an iPhone, where the HSFTools app permits quick access to the camera's menu system and allows a live view of the screen. So it's easy for two people to view the camera screen at once - one using the iPhone and the other the camera. The unit is made in Vietnam. The company's website is supportive and features a number of thermal camera varieties. This particular model is their top of the line. The menu UI takes a little getting used to, since you have up/down arrows but no left/right arrows, and frankly it's a little easier for extensive menu use from the iPhone app, but once you figure out how to move through the menus, it gets better. Once you get everything set up, you'll likely be happy just turning it on, looking around, taking photos, and shutting it down - and for all that, you won't need to use the menus at all. Overall, this is an excellent addition to the tool shop, and it should come in handy for around-the-house automotive, HVAC, or electrical projects. Battery life time is high - after plenty of playing, I'm still showing a full battery. Power-up time is just a couple of seconds (just remember to switch the lens cap open). There's even a tripod mount at the base of the handle. Quite a nice design that sits properly in your hand for long-term use if needed. ... show more

  • See my photos comparing with InfiRay P2 Pro.
I have no need to post photos or videos, because the product listing's photos and videos are so thorough. Please take the time to view them all! This product has many features and functions. For my review I am comparing this product with the https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C3TP4FTR/ InfiRay P2 Pro, both because I have one and because it has become so extremely popular. Both have 256x192 sensors. The price is roughly the same, but obviously the difference is size and time to set up. For the InfiRay P2 Pro I did not use their app; I used the Ancel IR app, and that is because it has more functionality. Each photo has side-by-side comparison of the HSFTOOLS F2W on the left and InfiRay P2 Pro on the right. A picture is worth a thousand words, so you be the judge! My opinion is that they are of comparable quality. For the freezer, it is hard for any IR sensor to get an accurate reading. For the hottest point on the gas range top, there could be a difference between the few seconds delay between taking the pictures, and also where the heat was flaring. So, I would personally not be as concerned about these extremes. But I will fault the hottest spot on the hot pizza, because I don't believe that was 202.1 degrees. I ate the pizza slice, and want to believe the 185.5 degrees number. The photos are of a PC on a desk, a parakeet, a wood stove that was hot earlier in the day but is now only warm, a pan with some water in it on top of a gas range top with the burner on, the inside of a kitchen freezer, a slice of cold pizza just taken out of the refrigerator, and the same slice of pizza after being heated for thirty seconds in the microwave oven. One thing I must mention: At first I couldn't find the C to F selection. It is there, just hidden down in the menus. You have to scroll down. The manual explains. As a Vine reviewer, I am expected to post a review promptly after receiving the product, so of course can say nothing about long term results. But the product seems to have good construction and works as advertised. I am very happy with it. Well, I'm an Amazon Vine reviewer, so only get hit with the 1099-NEC, but the question is, would I buy it at full retail price? I think I would. ... show more
