Features

  • Read & Reset CEL: the ET331 obd2 scanner diagnostic tool enables you to quickly check your car when the check engine light (CEL, MIL or SES) turns on: read generic and manufacturer-specific error codes (DTCs) with the definitions along with freeze frame and other diagnostic data. You can then fix simple problems or take the car to a mechanic in confidence.
  • Full OBD2 Functions: with support for full 10 OBDII modes, you can read: pending, stored and permanent DTCs; real-time sensor data (SAE standard PIDs) in chart or graphic; Evaporation check; O2 sensor & on-board monitor test results; and VIN reading.
  • Universal Vehicle Coverage: Works with all vehicles that are OBD2 / EOBD compliant (cars and light trucks made since year 1996 in the US, 1998 in Canada, 2001 gas & 2004 diesel in UK & EU, etc.). It provides accurate and fast diagnosis for worldwide car owners. Supports all OBD II protocols: KWP2000, ISO9141, J1850 VPW, J1850 PWM, and CAN.
  • More Versatile & Practical: It features a built-in DTC database with more than 35,000 DTCs (compared to normal 3000+ DTCs in basic OBD2 readers), 10 language options, and three LED indicator lights for DTC and connection status. It can even check current battery voltage so you can quickly know your battery status.
  • Easy To Use: plug & play, powered by OBD II port directly, portable design with anti-slip protective sleeve; 2.8 clear color display with contrast adjustment & color scheme selection. Supports DTCs & live data review & print, and free update via Windows PC. Comes with 2-year Replacement Warranty against defect.
  • NOTE: Does not work with hybrid or electric vehicles. Does not read non-OBD II systems like ABS, airbag, TPMS, etc.

  • Decent tool
Working good and easy to use

  • Failed to read the codes from my 2017 BMW 430i
The issue was a faulty high pressure fuel pump. The mechanic's scanner picked it up fine. This one said "no codes". It had one job and it failed to deliver. One star.

  • Great tool to have on hand
Tools like these, especially for the DIY mechanic are great to have on hand. Even for guys like me, who used to do their own diagnostics and repairs, it's still a good tool to have lying around to help know what's going on before you take it over to the mechanic or in some cases, just to clear the code to see if it comes back. The unit itself is good, well put together, and doesn't feel cheap, although it is very lightweight (most likely because there's no built-in battery). The menu system is easy to navigate and the screen is bright and clear. The price point seems reasonable, especially since it has a few features that the basic readers don't have. My biggest issue is that although it can read the codes, the code descriptions in the library are really vague and basically useless. You have to do some Googling of your own to really understand what each code is in reference to. Overall it does the job and seems to be a solid product. Just wish the library was a bit more robust or there was a way to connect the scanner to the internet so that it could pull from a much bigger database. ... show more

  • Handy to have reader.
This reader is extremely handy to have for diagnosis of problems in my car. I have an older 1999 roadster that this will be used for. You never know when you will experience car problems and to haa tool to assist diagnosing the cause. The reader is well made and should take some minor abuse .

  • Great to have on hand!
I live in the country far from an auto store so this little diagnostic gadget is handy to have. I know they diagnose for free at auto stores but this is nice to use myself and then call a friend or dad to help me figure out what to do without going in to town. It would be great for car trips. And for any DIY mechanics. ... show more

  • I am really amazed at the versatility of the Exctool Model ET331, OBD II Diagnostic Tool
I am really amazed at the versatility of the Exctool Model ET331, OBD II Diagnostic Tool. There are other scanners out there and this one for the price is excellent. It has lots of features like emissions diagnostics, voltage reader, live data and DLC Library just to name a few. It was even able to read my VIN number. This product is much more than a code reader. This is a simple to use code scanner anyone could use. It is definitely steps above basic. The code reader shows correct codes but the description of the code in the DLC library is very vague. I have to refer to the manufacture's codes for a accurate description of what the fault is. This unit has a 2.8" color screen, making it very easy to navigate. Overall, I like it and I will update my review after some more time with it. It does not come with a USB "C" cable to connect to a computer. Nor was there any information on how to use the USB C cable connected to the computer. I am not sure, but to make this work it seems like the scanner needs to be connect to the vehicle, to power the scanner. The computer does not power the scanner by it's self. You would have to bring a laptop to your vehicle so the scanner communicates with the computer. This would also need to be done anytime you need to do a firmware update. In the description of the unit on the AMAZON page under power, it says "battery". That is somewhat incorrect. It does not have any batteries in it. It runs off of the "vehicle" battery what plugged in to the OBD port. ... show more

It's so nice to have one of these of our own. They're not super easy to interpret but we did have someone explain it to us

  • Husband likes
Husband likes, he says this is a 4/5 star item. He said it worked immediately upon turning on, and it was easy to clear a fault fast. This is a good item to add into the arsenal for a car DIYer.
