So far I have shredded about 55 gal worth of mulch from green tree trimmings. I have not tried to shred anything over about 1 inch and probably will not try to shred heavier material as this is NOT an industrial unit.

Blades last reasonable amount fair,works good but bigger branches you may need to backoff a bit on feed. Not for big jobs.

Don't buy this. I used it for 25 minutes. All dry branches smaller than 1 inch. It worked but struggled frequently. It got jammed. I unplugged and took care of that. Tried restarting and it was sluggish and smoke came out of the motor. I'm returning it.

I love having my own chipper so I can recycle cuttings from my yard right back into the soil. I have a 10,000 sq yard in socal and I think this unit is probably about the right capacity for my use. My goal is to not have to have the trash hauler dispose of vegetation from our yard unless they are weed seeds or diseased. Believe it or not, I've had arguments about this with my husband. He does not seem to understand chop and drop, leave the leaves, but I think he likes using this machine to chop stuff up. I've used this unit 3 times now for about 15 minutes each to chip small branches and twigs. The reduction ratio is quite fine. It's hard to find undyed wood mulch in stores. I am using my "premium" wood chip mulch on my vegetable beds and fruit trees. I think it's better than straw because I can easily plant seeds and seedlings within a tight, mulched planting hole. Straw is harder to position to form a well covered planting hole. I use straw from grasses I cut from my own yard. The unit warmed up with use but not excessively. I've chipped branches up to about1.5" and am kind of scared to go bigger for fear it will jam up the unit. It hasn't happened yet. Based on reading other reviews, I am not chipping branches with green leaves to avoid jamming up the blades. I am allowing branches with leaves to dry first. I like having the included bag catch the wood chips. It also helps to contain the amount of wood dust kicked up when you are grinding away. The unit is light enough to easily tow into the yard to use and stays solidly in place when operating. I haven't had any issue with it rocking or moving. Can't comment on durability yet since we haven't used it for long.

I bought this for one specific job, to process a pile of cane. The cane was in a ravine and hauling it out would have cost me more than this chipper. I think patience is the key. The chipper will happily grind one cane at a time, especially if it's older and drier, but in the process I tried chipping some small oak an mesquite branches to which it said "really?!" So, I give it 3 stars for being as patient as me, but would caution anyone with hardwood limbs etc. I have to also point to the quality of the unit... it's not even as good as Tonka Truck from my childhood days....😏

This machine is well worth the money. This little workhorse is already paying for itself in the yard waste I don't have to pay to haul to the dump and the compost and mulch I don't have to buy. The only thing I could wish for is a hopper to help with feeding in smaller brush. Otherwise I'm very happy with this chipper.

Product works as advertised. I took a large pile of fresh cut willows and reduced it to 3 and ½ bags in less than an hour. 1 and ¾ inch wood chalanges the motor a bit, but, just turn it of and then back on. I have a Gas powered larger chipper that this will be replacing. Need a Gas Chipper?
