I purchased this because I have an adult with disabilities in my care. She has night pee/poo accidents on occasion. Last night she had her first accident since buying this and it went completely through to the mattress. Stains, wetness, and odor on the mattress. I researched a lot of waterproof mattress covers and ended up with this one. We had one for our sons bed and it wasn’t 100% waterproof. He would wet the bed and it would go through to his mattress which disgusts me to the core !! Especially since it’s a brand new mattress. I would never want my child to sleep in a piss filled mattress ! Yuck !! My son is potty trained but from time to time he has an accident during the night. With a brand new mattress I wanted to make sure it was protected, 100% !! And this has done that. He has had about 2 accidents in 6 weeks and not one stain or wet spot on his mattress. We are pleased with this product. It’s is not crunchy or noisy like some reviews stated. It’s actually really soft and can be used as a sheet too. I put a sheet on top of the protector just because I’m a little OCD and have nice sheets for our son. But a sheet isn’t even needed. And really, kids could care less. It doesn’t sound or feel like plastic at all. I was surprised. We went ahead and ordered another one for our bed because our current one is definitely not 100% waterproof and once a month our little man gets a sleepover with us ! :) So this gives peace of mind that our mattress is protected as well. We are also expecting our second son in June and who knows how that sleeping arrangement will go so I want to be extra sure that our $3,000 California king mattress is protected at all costs. I would highly recommend this for kids who are potty training or if you just want to keep your new mattress protected from anything; spills, Pets, bed bugs, stains; etc. I can’t say I know if this protects against adults wetting the bed or large animals or whatever you plan to use it for. Our son is 5 and weighs 38lbs if that helps. Not sure how much liquid this will hold but it has a very nice liner on the inside and I am super happy with it !! :) I hope our second one is just as good ! The king sized waterproof pad is just fine, however it comes with two pillow protectors, but they were only STANDARD sized. king sized pad should come with king sized cases!
