  • Great ice maker
I labored over countertop ice makers since there is no access to water where our fridge is kept and I was tired to bringing home bags of ice from the store. I finally settled on this model bc the reviews seeded good, the price was in-line with what I wanted to spend, and I liked the stainless finish over more colorful options. Pros 1. Makes a decent amount of ice and fast. I’ve been using it almost daily for a few months and haven’t had one problem with it. 2. Super easy to use and wipe out/clean - my kids are mostly in charge of keeping the ice stocked. Things to consider: 1. Very little insulation so ice must be moved to the freezer quickly or it melts. I got the idea from reading other reviews this was the case with most countertop ice makers. They’re not like industrial ice makers that keep ice frozen and also make the ice. 2. It kicks off some heat and needs air flow on either side so it takes up even more counter space than just the appliance itself. 3. It’s not super quiet. Between the compressor kicking on and the ice dropping in the bucket, if you had an open concept living area you might not appreciate the noise. Our kitchen is separate from the living area and while we can still hear it - it’s not bothersome at that distance. 4. The two ice sizes are super close in size so not really a feature but that doesn’t bother me. ... show more

  • Best customer service, EVER!
I want to personally send a thank you across Amazon to this seller because their customer service is out of this world. I originally bought two of these machines, because we are moving to the island of Jamaica. It's very warm there obviously and the homes sometimes don't accommodate large refrigerators. I do have plenty of countertop space. I bought these to replace an igloo which failed out of the box but I could not return because of timing. I opened one of these up and it would not make ice. I contacted the manufacturer they immediately offered me a replacement. Just discard the first one; apparently it was low on refrigerant. When I returned back to the States they sent me my replacement. Out of the box it had a bad crease in the side and made a terrible noise. It works but it was obviously damaged or passed quality control and nobody noticed. I contacted them with this video and they did not hesitate to send me another one or offer me a refund. Normally I would have taken the refund but the first unit that we purchased from them out of the two, worked so quietly and so well I wanted another one of these machines. It took some time but this company allowed me to have two perfectly good units. Most importantly their customer service is out of this world. ... show more

  • So far, so good.
After waiting the recommended 24 hours, I plugged my new machine in and filled it with filtered, room temperature water. It's a noisy little thing, especially the water pump, but it's fast enough, with a roughly nine-minute cycle when set for larger "cubes." The "cubes" are smaller than what my previous machine produced, but that's not a problem. It is rated at the same 24-hour output as the old machine, and I can believe it, but the water reservoir is a little smaller, and the ice basket is a *lot* smaller, so I'd have to empty the basket every time it filled in order to get the rated 24-hour yield. Again, not a problem. No sign of leaks, and the ice in the basket stays cold for quite awhile due to some apparently very good insulation. Things may change a bit once warmer weather reaches us, but I'm confident. Edit: Three-plus weeks in and it continues to perform well. The water pump seems to get noisier every day, though, and the ice basket doesn't always fit properly in place, and will sometimes block the "ice full" sensor. Just have to pay attention when placing it. Edit: Six-plus months in and the machine continues to perform well. The water pump hasn't become any louder, but the ice basket has a break between two of the holes in the bottom. ... show more

  • Great solution for needing ice quick, or often. Also: regarding taste...
Firstly, on the subject of taste, someone left a 1 star review below. That taste is from not cleaning it. If you either just leave it run all the time, fill it with unfiltered water often, or just run it and shut it off as needed for a 3 or 4 weeks but never actually *drain* it, you'll get what's best described as plastic tasting ice. There is a drain plug on the bottom for this. This taste is not a defect. This is nature. You are getting slime. Drain it and wipe it out with a soapy rag and rinse it thoroughly in the sink with hot water and it will go away. If you just wipe it out once a week you'll never get that taste again. We just wipe ours out every weekend. The unit works great. With our entire family working and schooling from home during Covid, our refrigerator ice maker just can't keep up. We got this just to have a quick way to make more ice when the fridge runs out. It takes about 2 minutes to make a cup of ice. In about an hour it makes more than our fridge does in 24 hours. It's not super loud but you'll hear the fan running and it dumping ice every couple minutes. We usually just fire it up in the afternoon or if the fridge runs empty. Note that it's an ice *maker* not a freezer. It doesn't store ice. If you leave ice in the catch bucket, it will eventually melt, and the machine will just make more, keeping itself full. We would only just let it run and melt like that if we were to have guests over, which isn't a thing during Covid. We just turn it on for a couple hours at most per day. We keep an extra bucket of ice in the freezer too, for when we are lazy or need ice immediately. Very happy with the unit. If we didn't have it we'd have to keep buying ice every couple of days the way our fridge can't keep up. This is also going to be a great addition for the boat next summer. No more need to remember to stop and buy ice before we go or on the way. ... show more

  • Great kitchen addition
I "killed" my refrigerator's automatic icemaker when I used a heat gun to thaw the ice dispenser, of which proved to be irreplaceable. I and my dog absolutely must have access to ice without the hassle of filling ice cube trays and trying to put them in the pull-out freezer without spilling them. I don't have much counter space and was concerned that it would take up too much room. But it is a welcome addition and attractively coordinates with my stainless steel appliances. My routine is to add water and turn it on when I get up and I have access to ice all day. I turn it off at night as it will not keep ice solid for a long period of time, but it make a new load so quickly that it makes up for that feature. This ice maker makes small enough "tubes" of ice that I can actually load batches into the fridge bin if I anticipate needing a large quantity (or I could put in the storage container in the freezer for parties, etc.) Purchasing ice was not an attractive option as the ice was not the appropriate size to dispense from the still working door dispenser. That's what lead me to purchase this item and I have no regrets. I will comment that when the water dispenses and the ice falls into the bin, it is rather loud. I have found myself on a couple of occasions forgetting that it was working and feeling compelled to explore the sounds coming from the kitchen--only to realize it was just ice being made. It sure beats buying a new fridge, just to have easy access to ice! PS--DO NOT use a heat gun to thaw a plastic icemaker! ... show more

  • Great machine!
So I've only had this for a few days but so far it has been terrific. It's easy to set up and get working. I ran it through a few cycles after cleaning/wiping it out. The reservoir holds a decent amount of water and I was able to fill up an ice bin in my freezer in...maybe an hour. Maybe a little longer, didn't keep close track but it went quickly! Some reviews mentioned the ice melting quickly when put into a drink, I haven't had this problem but I think if you leave the ice in the basket in the maker you will have this issue as the ice will start to melt almost immediately. Either using it right away or moving it into a freezer quickly and this shouldn't happen. As noted in other reviews the ice is "wet" because the receptacle that holds the ice is not cooled, to prevent the ice from solidifying in my refrigerators freezer I've just been moving the ice over after one or two individual batches (as opposed to waiting for the basket to fill). It doesn't get a chance to melt much and while the pieces will freeze to each other in the freezer it's easier to break up as you go rather than after its formed into one solid chunk. The unit itself is nice looking, the display is easy to use and see. I'm keeping this on a shelf unit that is my "bar" and it looks nice with my glasses and bar stuff. It is generally very quiet but when the ice dumps over into the bucket it's a little noisy and will probably startle you at first but you'll get used to it. My only small complaint is that when the ice is dumped over into the basket it kind of stays in a heap and will trigger the Full Basket sensor so ice will stop making. If I'm trying to get a full basket I've just checked on it here and there and knocked the ice down, not a nig deal just mildly annoying. The ice scoop is nice but there isn't anywhere to keep it unless you want to take up space in the basket which I'd rather save that space for ice. So...the scoop is in a drawer and will likely be forgotten about. All in all, I really like this machine and can't wait to use it over the holidays. No more having to run out and grab ice or hoping the designated ice bringer remembers! ... show more

  • Handy, quiet, effective and efficient ice maker
Because our new fridge couldn’t keep up with the family ice needs, I needed to purchase a countertop ice maker. I research everything and this one kept coming up as a worthy purchase. I was pleasantly surprised! First, this is much quieter than I anticipated. The loudest is while it dumps ice into the plastic bucket. It easily fits on our counter when in use and in a cabinet when it isn’t. I prefer the larger cube size as it just seems to work better for us. The first couple of cycles when making cubes come out a bit thinner and smaller, but after that the cubes are consistent in size and thickness. We mostly use the ice from this to make our iced tea (Mr Coffee Iced Tea Maker) because it uses a lot of ice at once. Some thoughts on using this product. 1. Every three to five cycles, shake the excess water from the cubes and basket, then dump the ice into a large (we use gallon size) ziplock bag. Throw it in the freezer while another three to five cycles, then repeat. We can fill up that bag in about three hours, and we don’t have to monitor it all the time. I fill the reservoir to the fill line and that ends up making more than enough Ice to fill a gallon ziplock. 2. Plan ahead when using. If you feel like it is slow, start the process earlier. 3. The unit isn’t light or tiny, so make sure you budget a large enough storage area if you don’t keep it on the countertop. Overall this is a fantastic ice maker and I would not hesitate to buy another if I needed one. ... show more

  • Doesn't work. Just keeps flashing red light for water level. ETA: REPLACED
ETA: REPLACEMENT WORKS PERFECTLY. Thanks, Amazon. Word of caution: it showed up packed on its side, so it traveled that way a long time, and in the cold. SO we gave it longer than 24 hours to come up to temp and for the freon or whatever to settle. Then we added purified water and turned it on - within a few minutes ICE and within a few hours MORE THAN FULL as we kept using what it made. Great little machine. ETA: Amazon shipped us a replacement and took the old one away. The NEW one has not been turned on yet, as it was shipped in a box - on its side in cold weather - so it's going to be a long while before we will dare to turn it on - the freon or whatever is inside needs to warm and settle. So we'll see. FIRST REVIEW: We've tried unplugging and resetting - but it's not working. And yes, we waited 24 hours to set it up and turn it on. :( ... show more
