  • This product is a "bit of alright!
Color: Black
I bought this nugget icemaker and rec'd it two days ago. Here's what I've learned so far. Pros: a) Packaged really well. Unless someone really tried to destroy it, it should come in just fine. Nice job! b) Easy to take all the pieces out, clean and put back together (hint: there aren't many parts, which is nice!) c) They say ice in 6 mins... True but not enough to use. lol My attached video shows this. However, in 20 mins there was enough for one cup. Give it an hour and it'll be about full. It'll auto turn off as the ice gets stuck coming out of the chute so it thinks it's full but it's only about 2/3 full. That's fine. All ice machines will do this. Several glasses worth in an hour. d) Very compact and pretty light. e) Pretty quiet. You can hear it but there is a lot going on inside to create the ice. It's not loud enough to be a bother. f) Delicious nugget ice! No complaints on size or taste! g) Easy to drain, dry off and put away. Cons: I can't come up with any. How long will it last? That's the real question. Only time will tell. Overall, here was my goal. I just wanted to use it for a day, bag up a bunch of ice, drain and dry and put it away until I needed more ice. The reason for this goal was this... My first nugget maker was the GE Profile 2.0. Almost $600. I ran it 24/7 (I use a lot of ice). This was a mistake. Running it that much wore it out too quickly and also dirtied it up too easily. There was no good way to clean it other that hoping the "clean" setting actually did clean it. Well, it didn't. I don't think any can. You can't take any of them apart enough to make sure there isn't black gunk growing in all the guts of the machines. This nugget maker is easier to get too. The top lifts off and you can actually see the inside water tank and the big front tank and clean them both. Much better and a third of the price. Will it make ice as fast? Heck's no. Can I make ice for a few hours and bag it up and put in the freezer? Heck's yeah. I'm going for price now. I'll make ice, clean up the machine and put away for a week. So far, this is a great buy!! ... show more

  • Ice lover? It is worth every penny.
Color: Black
I am really surprised at how well this ice maker works. I am an ice-o-holic. I do not drink anything without ice. I don't chew on ice, I use it to cool everything I drink, the colder the better. The ice maker on our refrigerator failed about 2 years after purchase. It is a known-issue. The fix from Whirlpool is to replace the entire freezer door. At the time, they wanted $1,700 for the door. I'm pretty sure we paid $1,800 for the refrigerator. I started out buying bags of ice, then bought ice cube trays to make ice. I finally bought the Euhomy Nugget Ice Maker after about 2 years of that nonsense. I was reluctant to buy a countertop model because they don't store ice. I was thinking the ice would melt very quickly and would be a lot of work to get a lot of useable ice from the machine. Fortunately, that is not the case. I'm sure there is some ice loss due to melting, but after 30 minutes, there is a decent amount of ice in the basket. I have used the Ice Maker 4 times, running it for about 8 hours each time. I fill the water basin and turn the machine on. It takes more like 8 minutes for the first nuggets to drop. I usually remove the ice every 30 minutes and had a cup or two of water after removing the ice. This way the ice maker runs constantly. I have a process to keep the ice from clumping too much while it freezes in the freezer. When I remove the ice from the ice basket, I place it in a 1 gallon freezer bag and lay it flat in the freezer. Then, 30 minutes later when I remove the next batch from the maker, it goes into a second 1 gallon bag and is laid flat in the freezer. The next 30 minutes, I break up the ice in both Gallon bags by banging them on the counter and then combine them. The empty bag is filled and the process is repeated. Once a gallon bag is filled, there are only a few large clumps of ice. After about 8 hours of this process, I have two 1 gallon freezer bags of ice nuggets that generally last a few days. I generally make ice twice a week. I think in the summer, I'll probably be making ice 3 to 4 times a week. Some reviews claimed the ice maker is loud. It is about as loud as our Air Fryer and Microwave. I don't really think it is very loud. Most of the noise comes from the fan and the clinking of the tiny cubes falling into the plastic basket. I am glad we got this ice maker. It's obviously more work than making ice cubes in ice cube trays, but it makes more ice in the same amount of time as 4 standard ice cube trays. If we were to run out of ice, it only takes about 20 minutes to get enough ice made for a 20 ounce glass. With ice cube trays, it takes many hours to make solid ice. ... show more

  • Pretty Good.
Color: Gloss Black
We recently upgraded from an older countertop ice maker specifically to get that nugget-style texture, and this EUHOMY unit stood out as a well-priced option that met our requirements on paper. When it arrived, the package had been shipped sideways, so we strictly adhered to the manufacturer’s instructions and let it settle for the full 24 hours before firing it up—definitely don't skip that step if yours arrives off-kilter, or you risk damaging the compressor. Once the wait was over, it started up without any issues. As for the ice itself, a quick management of expectations is warranted: it is not a "true," ultra-soft flake nugget ice you might get from a commercial machine, but it does a very good job of playing the part. It's an approximation, but it's crunchy, satisfying, and absolutely close enough to the real thing to justify the upgrade. Ultimately, if you understand the minor trade-offs in exact texture, the price-to-performance ratio makes this a highly functional and strategic buy. ... show more

  • Small But Mighty
Color: Black
To be honest, I bought this machine to replace a $400 Mueller unit that the company replaced once, was a beast to keep clean, and eventually turned into a boat anchor. I figured if I only spent $150 on this Euhomy model and it didn’t hold up, it wouldn’t be that expensive to replace. I really didn’t have very high expectations but I waited to write a review until I had time to live with the machine. It’s been six months now. It has performed perfectly and we use it daily. It makes great pellet ice – soft and crunchy. Compared to the Mueller, it is small and does not take up much counter space. It is also pretty quiet in normal operation; although, it can get louder when it needs to be refilled. It makes ice very quickly - which is a plus because the ice bin itself is small. This machine would not be suitable for a large household but there are only two of us. We use large water bottles throughout the day so it is possible to fill up a water bottle with ice and empty out the ice bin. But it refills itself quickly so there is not much of a wait for the next person. (If they’re desperate, they just get ice out of the refrigerator ice maker.) The machine itself is easy to clean once you get the hang of the drain plug being on the bottom. The only real negative is the manual. The directions were so conflicting I wasn’t sure exactly how to clean the machine. I had to email them for clarification and to be honest, I really didn’t expect much of a response. But to my surprise, a real human emailed me back with an updated manual and clarified the questions I had. They even followed up after they sent the email to make sure I did not have any further issues. I truly did not expect that level of Customer Service. To be frank, the revised manual still needs work but it was an improvement and answered my questions. So, normally I would give this product four stars but because of the response from Customer Service I’m giving it five. Hope the machine continues to hold up! ... show more

  • DO NOT BUY THIS USELESS MACHINE!!!
I was so excited to receive this ice maker because it claimed to make the most perfect nugget ice just like Sonic's delicious ice. I've been buying cups of Sonic ice twice a week for some time now. However, now that it's hot outside here in California, the ice melts a little by the time I get home, so when I put it in the freezer, it hardens up into one solid brick of ice and doesn't taste the same as when getting and eating it right away from Sonic. Soooo, then I decided to just get my very own ice maker to alleviate this problem. I did my research and looked for a machine that is compact and easy-to-use and clean. Most importantly, the ice maker had to produce Sonic styled nugget ice, not bullet ice. Well, after reading all the reviews on this Euhomy Ice Maker, I was sold. As I said before, I was extremely excited about this ice maker. Well, I received it yesterday, September 1st, and followed all the manufacturers directions to set it up. (Note: You won't be able to use it right away because you MUST let the machine sit upright for 24 hours before plugging it in, turning it on, and filling the reservoir with water to begin making ice. Then you're instructed to throw out the first few batches before you can use the ice.) So, I got my machine yesterday and set it upright on the kitchen counter around 7:30p.m. At 7:40p.m. the following night I finally plugged it in, pushed the On button, and filled up the reservoir with filtered water. Then, I waited anxiously for the first batch of "Sonic" ice. I'll admit that the ice maker is speedy. I heard ice drop into the basket about five minutes later. Another positive is that it isn't loud at all, as some people have claimed. Okay, those are the only positives though. I wanted and was expecting small nugget ice, but instead I got large bullet ice (for those of you who don't know what the difference is between nugget and bullet ice, just Google it.) I saw that there are two option buttons on the front, Large and Small. Well, the large button was lit up, so I figured that was the problem. I then turned the ice maker off and unplugged it. I waited about 30 seconds, then plugged it back in, turned it on, and switched it from Large to Small. My hopes were back up that I would get the glorious small nugget ice I was so craving. The ice dropped about five minutes later and I was disappointed again. WTH?!? So, I thought that maybe that was the last cycle of the large ice and my smaller ice would be coming next. Nope!! The only ice that machine was making was large bullet ice, which I do NOT like. Well, I again turned off the ice maker and unplugged it. Waited another 30 seconds then plugged it back in. Now, the dumb machine won't even turn on. I pushed the On/Off button several times and....nothing. Dead machine 26 hours later after receiving it!?!? Good thing I saved the box because this useless machine is going back. I'm definitely not keeping it when it doesn't even make small Sonic-styled ice as it claims. More importantly, the ice maker stopped working 26 hours after receiving it. Needless to say, I absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT!!! ... show more

  • Small but mighty and CLEAN!
Color: Steel Light Silver
Long review follows because I've struggled to find a good ice maker. When we received this ice maker, I was not sure I would like it because: 1. It was smaller than what I was used to from my previous ice maker. 2. The ice looked different from what I was expecting for sonic ice. (Picture) But here's why we love it: 1. It is CLEAN. (More on this later) 2. The ice is fine. Not round but still does great and actually seems to last a little longer. 2. It makes plenty for us even with its small but mighty size and takes up less space. 3. It is simple to use and maintain. 4. Did I mention - it is clean! I was always fighting our old ice maker with black residue water even with filtered water. When it failed and I took the old ice maker apart, the internal reservoir was NASTY. Coated with the black gross even though I cleaned it regularly with vinegar or citric acid. (The auger gearbox failed and also took out the motor - a blessing in disguise) This ice maker has no internal inaccessible reservoir! To clean it fully, you just pop off the top and can wipe out the small accessible reservoir. When you drain it for a rinse and clean, both the main bin and the reservoir drain. I'm willing to suffer some loss of capacity for cleanliness, but honestly we haven't missed ice when we want it, even with the smaller size. One minor thing is the ice will dam up a little coming out of the chute triggering the ice full stop. But when you get ice out of it regularly anyway, it's not a big deal. I'm hoping that with regular cleaning to help remove any scale buildup that this Euhomy will last us and we'll be using healthier ice without that black goo hiding in the machine like the others. Update - fixed poor spelling and we're still using the little beast. Brought it on a trip with us since it is so portable and you can drain it to travel DRY. Very nice benefit to have our own ice in the room and not rely on hotel ice! ... show more

  • Ice is fine, but it's a very loud machine
Color: Steel Light Silver
We bought this primarily to make nugget ice for iced coffee, and in that respect it does exactly what we wanted. The ice size is exactly as expected, it starts producing ice fairly quickly, and it makes enough for a couple of large iced coffees without much waiting. Our biggest complaint is the noise. The product description advertises quiet operation, but that wasn't our experience. It was loud enough that we moved it from our kitchen to the laundry room because it made it difficult to watch TV in the adjoining room. It also seems to run almost constantly. Since this style of ice melts fairly quickly, the machine frequently cycles to make more, which adds to the overall noise. If your priority is quality nugget ice and you don't mind some noise or have a place to keep it away from your main living area, it's a solid machine. If you're expecting a quiet appliance, though, you may be disappointed. ... show more
