    • LOVE this floodlight cam
The media could not be loaded. I replaced an existing old-school floodlight with the Eufy floodlight cam. Installation was straightforward and identical to what would have been the installation of a standard floodlight. This floodlight cam was my second Eufy product; I had previously installed and reviewed the Eufy Doorbell Cam, which I absolutely love. One of the most important differences in the Eufy ecosystem as compared to other brands is that with Eufy you do not need a subscription. This is HUGE in my opinion. With nearly all other brands, once you buy the hardware, you then have to pay an annual subscription so that your videos can be stored and accessed on their servers. This means someone else--not you--is controlling access to your videos. They can raise the price any time they want. They can change the terms. They can reduce the storage capacity. They can have a server outage and when you think you can access a video it may not be there. THEY are in control of YOUR videos and can charge you whatever they like as time moves on. Eufy operates with no subscription and all data is stored locally, in your full control. Quality of the camera is excellent. Crisp and sharp. Audio is excellent as well. In the video I have included you can see me being the good husband and taking the garbage out. You can hear the squeak of the garage door rollers that I haven't greased in years. The Eufy app and it's controls are outstanding, and this is VERY important to avoid constant alerts when a tree branch sways in the wind. The settings include a choice of "human only", for example. Aside from a sensitivity adjustment, you can also select specific activity zones. This is very important if a street or sidewalk are within view as they are for me. By setting an activity zone that excludes the street and sidewalk, my cam is triggered only when someone or something enters my property--NOT when cars or pedestrians pass by on the road out front. An unexpected surprise: because we did not select "human only" we are picking up all sorts of night life we didn't know we had. It does not wake us because our phones are silenced at night, but in the morning we see foxes, coyotes, racoons and bobcats we had no idea existing in our neighborhood. We even captured a video of a hawk swooping down and grabbing a poor rabbit in the middle of the night. We no longer let our cats out of the house! We have since added a Eufy indoor cam for when we go away and rely on a petsitter and housekeeper to come and go at the right times, and it is also an excellent product that I have reviewed separately.     • No Subscription Fees
The this thing about this security floodlight camera is that it doesn't require a subscription fee like most other brands. Camera quality is really good, even at night. The microphone picks up audio significantly well and clear. Some other reviews do say that night time motion sensor is minimal, but it really depends on the location and setup. From my experience, I do agree that sometimes the motion sensors don't pick up right away and other times they pick up what I call "ghost movements", because when I review the video, there's nothing there. The camera setup is somewhat confusing and isn't the easiest to work with. I had to run through it 3 times before it finally connected to my wifi. One thing I don't particularly like about it is the adjustment knobs to the floodlights. Instead of the knobs being on the outer sides of the lights, they're faced inward towards the camera. This makes it hard to adjust the knobs to set the floodlights because the camera is bulky and gets in the way. It's especially harder to do on a ladder standing 12 feet above the ground. The lights shine brightly and illuminate even the darkest corners of our country driveway. It will take some time to fine tune the camera using the mobile app, but so far I've refined this camera to work the way I need it to. Adjusting the sensitivity does help, so you'll need to play around with it to get it just right for you. I love the fact that it gives me the ability to turn the lights on via mobile app. Sometimes doing this can help illuminate the area before I step out, in the event there are wild animals nearby. Overall, this has been a very good first floodlight security camera I've purchased. We're pretty satisfied with its performance. I'm looking forward to other products from Eufy. ... show more

    • A let down at this point - UPDATE - POSITIVE

First let me say I know eufy is very engaged with it's customers so I hope they read this and provide some feedback. I recently purchased the wired video doorbell, the three camera eufy Cam E, system and the floodlight cam. Installation was fairly simply. Three issues with the floodlight cam. 1. Wifi range is not NEARLY as good as their other devices. I am lucky that at this point I don't need an extender but it's close. This video doorbell is the closest of all the cameras and it has the weakest wifi signal by far. 2. Does not use the Homebase storage. Not sure how this will affect usage down the road but wouldn't it make sense to have this use the HomeBase storage? 3. I am really disappointed in the color of the camera. It's yellow and not bright at all. Compare in the photo I shared the balanced color and sharpness of the Cam E and the Floodlight. Honestly I think the floodlight looks terrible for $200. There should be a way to white balance the camera or some sort of auto white balance. The color balance on the RING is MILES ahead of the eufy floodlight cam. Another minor issue at this point is the motion detection. Seems very short but I know that is something I need to work with to get it the best it can be. But that color....UGH!!! One other issue is that when I got my Cam E three cam system one of the three cameras would only connect to wifi within maybe three feet of the Homebase. eufy sent a prepaid envelope to send it back and I guess they are replacing it. We will see. Overall my experience with eufy/anker products has been "fair to good" at best. --- UPDATE after Eufy addressed responded directly to me after posting this review ----- So I know usually you hear the bad on social media regarding companies and their products. This time I will share the good. I bought a number of items from Eufy to get security monitoring at my home. Floodlight Cam, Wired Video Doorbell, three Cam E kit. All in all about $700. Everything went well on the purchase, delivery, and for the most part the set up. Here were the two issues. 1. In the three cam E kit one of the cameras would not get the signal further than 2-3 feet from the Homebase. 2. The video color during the day on the Floodlight Cam did not meet my expectations. It was very "yellow" with no ability to white balance. Regarding the faulty Cam E I got a prepaid return tag and sent the camera back to Eufy. They sent me a replacement camera, expedited shipping, free of charge. It worked just as expected. With respect to the disappointment on the Floodlight camera they told me engineers are always working to make their products meet customer expectations and because this did not meet mine they offered a free Cam 2C. I accepted the offer and will be installing that today. Each time I got a personalized reply from Eufy that was specific and relevant to my concerns. NEVER did they make any excuses for their products. They owned every issue and in my view went above and beyond to resolve matters. No company or product will ever be perfect nor meet the needs or expectations of every person. BUT what customers really want is a company that is responsive, owns problems and issues, and offers solutions based on what the customer needs, not what the company needs. Even if it means they may lose money in the short term. From my view Eufy has done all that and it will be this, along with continued R&D as well as product innovation, that will keep them among the top choices for home security products.
