  • Well-behaved robot minion for my fenced yard.
Style: eufy E15 up to 0.2 Acre
I see other reviews with people having different challenges, but for me, 10 out of 10, would buy again. Worth every penny, and honestly cheaper than hiring someone to do a basic mow regularly. My situation: I hate mowing. I have a small fenced yard, with a big tree, patio, etc. I have a 50lb dog and I don't scoop within the yard (no kids, and she always keeps her business nicely in certain avoidable areas so it doesn't bother me). The ground is mostly flat, but I have branches and sticks in my yard all the time from my tree and neighbor trees leaning over my space. I hate picking them up all the time, but as long as its just bigger ones to pick up, it's fine. I also am in a cellular and GPS dead zone (by like a block, lol. Oh well) so the former GPS solutions were non-starters for me, and if you didn't catch the hint, I am way too busy (read: lazy) to manage boundary wire. Ahhh this thing runs like a dream. Setting it up really was a straightforward solo task, and it did a good job learning the yard boundaries without me having to do anything except tell it to go. I added a couple "must mow here" zones to fill in a few gaps, and that worked quite well. Honestly, it does a phenomenal job. It's only gotten jammed by a stick once (it notified me on the app, and I went out and pulled the stick out in 30 seconds). It doesn't mind the doggy doo. I clean that and mud off the wheels once in a while but haven't noticed any performance issues. Pretty sure I could avoid that by just waiting longer to mow after rain. It got stuck once in the first couple days, and automatically recommended I mark that spot as no-go on the map. I did, and never got stuck again. Speed, I don't know how to judge. I run it in the morning while I'm in usually in meetings, so it's irrelevant to me. Wow, is it quiet though! Enough so that my dog, a huge chicken, doesn't panic (though she gives it side-eye sometimes while it's moving around). If you were on the other side of my 6ft privacy fence, you wouldn't know it was running. Durability, hard to judge, but it's in great shape after a couple months. Eufy recently added zone editing also, so it's easier to set up different parts of the yard for mowing. Fair warning, it's kind of addicting to have a neatly trimmed yard with no dandelions popping out though. Somehow, I ended up just added days until it became every day. Whoops. Rain detection is great. I tried to force it to mow during rain just to see how long it would take to recognize it, and it straight up refused to leave its robot house. Fair enough, robot minion. Security features, I haven't used so can't say much. Safe area, and it only operates within my privacy fence. Tl;dr: Tech like this usually needs refinement, and I'm understanding of that. But still, for my environment, it's minimal trouble for considerable gain. I, for one, welcome our robot overlords. ... show more

  • From Frustrated to Impressed — Beta Update Delivers Real Improvements, Breathes Life Into the E15
Style: eufy E15 up to 0.2 Acre
(Previous Rating: 2 Stars, Now: 4 Stars) After a rough start with the Eufy E15 Robot Mower, I’m glad to report that things have turned around significantly, thanks to the beta software update version 6.8.19 that Eufy pushed to my mower just a day ago. I tested it right away, & the improvements are impressive. Manual Zoning, Now a Game Changer One of the biggest changes is the new manual zoning feature. I have a front yard split by a public walkway, which was a challenge before. But now, I was able to guide the mower across the walkway, let it complete mapping in the new zone, return to base, update its map, & then seamlessly start mowing again just by selecting the zone & hitting play. That’s exactly how it should work, & this time, it did, flawlessly. Map Editing & Pathways, Great Improvements The update also improved features like No-Go Zones, Must-Go Zones, Edit Zones, & especially the Pathway function. These are best done after the initial mapping & with the mower at the base station. Setting pathways between zones (especially those divided by hard surfaces) is now far more reliable, though a bit tricky. Important note: Whenever you’re adding zones or editing any settings, it is best done when the mower is on the base station & the map has already updated. Doing it this way ensures everything is recorded correctly. For example, my base station is inside my garage for security. Originally, this wasn’t supported, the mower kept losing its bearings, often showing an error like “[E0909] Ensure the robot is on the lawn or the pathway created before.” To work around this, I used the remote control to guide the mower just a few feet from the base station (so it could still detect it), & then created a pathway from that spot to the nearest grass zone. Once that was set, the mower could locate the base station again & function properly. External Base Station Support, Coming Soon I’m told that on May 20, the next beta will include external base station support. This will hopefully allow users to place the base wherever they want, which would make this mower much more flexible & user-friendly. But even now, with the current beta, I’ve managed to make it work. Customer Service, Responsive & Helpful To anyone considering this mower, if you’re facing similar issues, I recommend reaching out to Eufy support & asking to be enrolled in the beta program. They were polite, responsive, & easy to work with. I never had a problem communicating with their team. Final Verdict (For Now) Before the update, I was dealing with mapping errors, software bugs, & limitations that made me seriously consider returning the mower. But with the latest beta, those major issues have been resolved. The mower is now mowing across my 3 grass zones smoothly, & the added features are showing great promise. It’s not quite perfect yet, I’m still waiting on the polygon-shaped No-Go Zones & full support for an external base, but this is finally a product that lives up to the potential it promised. From 2 stars, I’m now confidently giving it 4 stars. Almost there, Eufy, keep those updates coming. ... show more
