When I opened the box, it was daunting. The instructions didn't help, except they said that there was a video in the product listing. Looking at the 2-minute video made it all easy. I am happy with the price and don't wish I spent more for "better" ones. As for the downsides - just little things. They have a Beatle logo on the side, which is strange - but it is small. The bolts that hold it to the rails are a bit too long, and that makes the covers hard to put on. They should be 10mm shorter. The plastic parts are not the world's best molded, but they are ok. I am giving them 4-stars considering the price. I would give them 5-stars if they had shorter bolts and no Beatle logo.

So annoying to open a box you hear everything rattling and sliding around inside. The hardware received was only 3 bolts and a nut, no washers and clearly a missing bolt and several nuts. The instructions don't say how many should be included, but judging by the pictures in the instructions, there should be a screw, a nut and a washer for each of the 4 ends of the bars. So frustrated with the instructions as well, just sent the whole thing back and found something better. This wasn't worth the headache to go find the same size bolts at the store with the instructions included. There are other options for not much more money with far less headache.

Echoing the same sentiment as some of the other reviews on here, the instructions are really rough. The main gotcha for me was how to extend the rack length because I didn’t notice the underside of the rack bars. The underside has metal adjust meant holes that will only extend if you push down on the tab while pulling out on the end bracket. So what I would do first is over extend both ends after loosening the large Allen key screw all the way out. I mounted mine on an Audi Q7 and pulled it out four clicks on either side before sliding the end brackets on. With the end brackets on, attach the small screws that secure the bar into the brackets. There is only one hole that it will go into so it’s pretty easy to line up. Then put in the long small Allen key screws that attach to your car and tighten. Line up the rack on one side and push in slowly from the opposite side one click at a time until the hole lines up. Once the rack is lined up to your car then you can put it in the washer and nut. A 10mm ratchet will be your friend here to help you tighten it to your car. Overall the rack feels pretty sturdy and made well. I mounted a snowboard rack on top which was an adventure for another review.

Bough this one for an Audi Q7 2018. The product is setup in Amazon for this car and the fit is very good, the looks are Ok and you may want to use as needed only and not permanent as the aesthetics are not at the same level of the car, however they seem sturdy and should do a decent job. My low rating is for the instructions they are so bad, better instructions could get this install in 5 mins frustration free. Color printed instructions or email them if you don’t want to print it. There is a mention of a red screw that has me very worried as it did not came with the box, am I missing something ? Also everything should be hand tied and slides in (this could also help getting it off) only the final bolt could use tools the long screw could damage the roof if you tight with the allen wrench. The plastic rubber goes facing up, the shorter rail goes in the back. Not sure what are the screws for 😳. All that said the install feels sturdy to transport our stuff across multiple states. 🤞🏽

Ok. First: These are not expensive. Adjust expectations accordingly. The instructions are terrible. But the video in Amazon is perfect. I agree with the one reviewer who said these are good for occasional use. If I was going to leave them on permanently I would upgrade. Second: Use all the screws!! The length of the bars is adjustable. Just push the bolt sticking out the end to allow you to adjust the length. Then release. A photo is attached. You will notice the rear bars I’ve extended two clicks each side. The front needs no length adjustment for my 2019 Q7. Once installed, these look great. They appear solid and are not going anywhere. I’ll be removing them after our long weekend. But won’t hesitate to use them again when we need the rooftop cargo carrier.

I purchased this for my new (to me!) 2018 Audi Q7. First off, the instructions in the box were a b&w copy of the PDF and almost illegible. Fortunately they posted the PDF here. Secondly, the instructions show the rails attached to the brackets when you unpack, and they were not. But at least they included the screws to attach them. They did NOT include the toggle bolts referenced in the instructions, but did include locking nuts. The toggle bolts would be easier for removing and adding, but i plan for the bars to be a semi-permanent installation anyway. The front bar went on without a hitch, but the back bar wasn't long enough. There were no instructions on lengthening it, but I figured it out. After a few fits and starts, i finally got the back bar on. End result? I love the way they look and are very sturdy. I just wish they'd had better instructions, and I didn't have to figure out how to lengthen them myself.

These went together very easily. The longer bar goes in the front. The shorter bar in the back but had to loosen and expand them slightly. The Phillips screw did not go into the hole where it should on the rear bar after that but I put it in anyway just as another thing to keep the bar from moving. It shouldn't anyway because the other screw tightens the bar to the mount. I have just installed them and not used them yet but I don't forsee any issues. When you thread the long screw into the roof bar do not tighten it as it is touching the roof. Just use your fingers until it stops. You will then make it tight when you put the nut and washer over it to hold the bracket down. The locks also worked great.
