I've been using radar detectors for years. Recently I had the escort 9500ix and I loved the automatic false lockout feature but false alerts due to BSM and auto collision detection systems rendered it useless, especially driving in an urban environment around Houston. On the highway, it was fine, but not the city. I just wanted to say that my main selection criteria for a radar detector is it's ability to eliminate false alerts - I would rather sacrifice sensitivity and range for accurate detection and a quiet radar detector. I think the range tests don't really give an accurate accounting of the effectiveness of a radar detector. If there is one that gives you 1.5 miles vs. 2 miles, you still have more than enough time to slow down. 40 seconds versus 60 seconds. Before I made my decision, I purchased the following detectors and did side by side comparisons - escort max 360, valentine v1 gen 2 and the escort max 360c. The max 360 is a great radar detector, giving directional alerts and decent range, but it did not have band segmentation, which is why i wanted to try the 360c. I've never had a valentine, but this one had way too many falses - detection range was great, but again, i wanted something quiet. it also doesn't have gps auto lockout built in unless you have a 3rd party app, which i didn't find worked nearly as well as escort's gps auto lockout feature - and this is truly what separates the escorts apart from other brands - it's automatic - you drive by a false K band in the same location 3-5X and it will beep and show "stored" on the screen and will not alert you about this false again, making the detector very quiet and simple to use. the 360C performed similar to the 360, but what set the 360c apart was band segmentation through the app - I can turn off Ka and K bands that are not used in my area, eliminating more false alerts and making the detector even quieter and accurate. I also liked that the directional arrows are spaced out on the detector making it very clear where the signal is coming from. The other feature is the automatic updates when connected to wifi - no more connecting it to computer. When i first set it up, it said a download was available and downloaded it wirelessly. Easy. Here are the main features like the most: Auto GPS Lockouts It is very quiet. Sometimes I drive to work over an hour or two and it will only false maybe once or twice. the more you drive with it, the smarter it gets with locking out false signals. also, on ka detection, 99% of the time it is a cop - never a false. This is the quietest radar detector I have ever owned. Directional Arrows This is a game changer. I will never go back to one without it. The thing I really like is you know when you passed a signal. A lot of times, you will receive an alert ahead of you and it will ramp up and then the arrow changes to show behind you. this means a cop was traveling opposite your direction and then passed you, so the threat is now over. One time I was saved because it showed a signal ahead of me and then switched to behind me and kept alerting and building. It was a cop that was traveling parallel to me and entered the ramp behind me and was checking speeds of cars in front of it so i slowed down and they came up right behind me and passed me. Band Segmentation Through the app, you can modify which bands the detector will scan and alert you. If you don't have K band in your area, you can shut off all bands. be careful though, some small towns still use it. I completely shut off X band since is is never used in my area and keeps my detector quiet. I also shut off K band segment 1 when on the highway since this is where the BSM's and auto collision detection systems operate, making it quieter. For Ka, I use 2,5,8 and shut off all other bands - you can find online which Ka bands are used in your area. Number of signals It also notifies you if there are multiple signals and their direction. The directional arrow flashes indicating which one is closer so you know where to be looking.

Won't even turn on ! Escort and the money I paid !? NOT happy. Leaving on a two month road trip in 2 weeks I was hesitant to buy this and spend the money, should've went with gut. To me it doesn't even look new. Some minor scratches on it. Put on my readers & yes defintely looks like it's been used. Oh yeah I see plenty of wear scratches under the front lens portion. Darn I was looking forward to using this on my trip. Thought I may have to register first or some dumb thing. Tried open acc w/escort twice & they said I had wrong code. I only triple checked ea time ! - 5 stars !
