Stellar performance. Used to have to slam the brakes due to low range on previous detector. This thing detects radar from over a mile or two away. Now I just coast if I hear it go off. Awesome with the R8 companion app. I’m so psyched to have the best radar detector on the market. VERY accurate. Wifi is a plus. This is plug in play, like an Apple experience. I feel like a fighter pilot finding bogeys! The smart memory feature works great. We have K band traffic sensors here and it automatically remembers them and mutes. Worth every penny. An R7 is good but pairing to your phone is a game changer. Get this one. I also recommend a hard wire kit. Mines on the way.

I have had the R3, then the R7 for quite some time. Recently, we wanted a 2nd detector, so I went looking. I looked at the Escort Redline 360c and this R8w. I liked the idea of the Escort integration with Android Auto and such but the bottom line for a detector, is how well and what it can detect. The biggest advantage the R8w has, for me is the ability to detect Gatso 3/4 radar, which is becoming prevalent in my area. Plus the R8w range is second to none in range. It even outdoes my R7, which with the International firmware, is pretty darn good as well. It also has apps out there on both iOS and Android that integrate well with this detector(albeit not as well with Android Auto/Carplay) Pros LONG range detection Detects Gatso radar Offers good lockouts Offers a TON of settings/adjustments to really dial in the detection for your area Big screen with visibility when needed. Cons Not a huge fan of their mounting clip. The Escort magnetic quick release has it beat Can be chatty if not adjusted well. It's not as well a plug and play detector as the Redline Plastic body which makes it feel a bit cheap compared to the Redline, although the plastic keeps it light Overall, if you want the best radar detector that can detect the furthest and covers as many radar types as possible, this is the one for you. Just takes a little bit to dial it in. Vortex Radar has a great article on how to do this as well as recommended settings.

The Uniden R8w is the best radar detector I have ever used. The range is extremely long, and the arrows allow me to know what direction the radar signal is coming from. The new Uniden R-Tach app allows you to easily configure the settings and update firmware right from your phone. And with the new firmware it allows you to put in custom settings to block out literally every K band blind spot false from other cars. There is no better windshield mounted radar detector on the market. When you pair this detector with the Highway Radar Android app, Its virtually impossible to get caught speeding. Even when going up against instant on radar, it alerts you to ka band in just 0.2 seconds. You can press the brakes faster than the police officer can read your speed. The big suction cup mount included with it is a very secure and it doesn't bounce or shake when driving over bumps in the road. Also the speaker on the unit is very loud and can be heard even when listening to loud music. I drive over 50 miles every day to and from work. I think the speed limits are pathetically slow. 60 mph is the speed limit on the interstates where I live. Its stupid! I go 20-30 mph over the limit, and never once have I been caught. Forget about Escort, every one of their radar detectors have so many problems, and their service and firmware updates suck. If you want to drive with no limits, buy a Uniden radar detector!

The radar itself was pretty good only returned it because I noticed it didn't pick everything up. BUT the seller will SCAM YOU I paid $743.39 but then the seller hit me with Return fees of -$111.51 and only gave me back Total refund of $631.88 if your going to get this just get it from another seller.
