After trying a uniden R8 for 2 weeks (see my comments under Uniden R8) and returning it due to too many un necessary arrows crappy learning features, excessive false signals etc. I went back to Escort and purchased the Max3 and used it on my 1600 mile round trip from southwest Florida to Knoxville, Tn and back. This unit is all you need and costs less than half. It appears to learn fast, minimal false alarms, plug and play built quality seems ok. It did a great job keeping money out of the coffers of the state of Georgia and it’s over enforcement of speeders by its storm troopers. I am not a techno guru but have had radar detectors for over 20 years (Escort X50)and I am judging as someone who travels at 90 MPH + regularly and bottom line is that as a regular person, you don’t need anything more than this and the WAZE AP. Arrows? I personally chill at the point of getting an alert, you? Or do you evaluate based on location before taking your foot of the accelerator pedal? Only complaint is that on my Lexus GX 460, the letters are a bit small due to the distance between my sitting position and the unit on the windshield. I will see how the letter size looks in my Porsche 997.2 as it’s much closer. Speed doesn’t cause accidents, not driving to road conditions and stupid drivers who hog the left lane causing drivers to maneuver around them does but that is obviously rarely enforced. This is actually my second one. I bought Max III for the wife when it first came out. It far surpassed my Max II. So when the II started to dim, I already knew I wanted the III. Plus, the suction mount on this is second to none! We have had the first Max III for almost 3 yrs and have had zero tickets and zero issues. It's simple and plug and play. Unlike many electronic devices (TVs, computers, Audio equipment) radar detectors have improved in every aspect but the pricing has gone up and up (whereas the other items mention keep getting more affordable.) That stated, these are well worth it for the tickets I have not received. This device learns where speed monitoring radar is so in a few times it no longer makes noise. The media could not be loaded. I absolutely love this Escort!! I had one before in the late 1980s and it was state of the art at the time. This improved model has all the latest technology and works extremely well! Especially when your speed “accidentally” creeps up. It has a setting for maximum speed that is adjustable and makes clear and distinct sounds when it receives a signal which identifies the band being used by law enforcement and even stationary speed traps such as toll sensors. It mounts easily to the windshield with a suction cup that actually stays put and has a long enough cord to reach a standard 12 volt power source. I checked the reviews on Valentine and decided on the Escort for value and features. Now I feel naked driving without it. Warning, when parked in a questionable area, remove it and store it in the case. I had my window smashed out and the unit stolen 25 years ago. A great purchase. ... show more

If I would now have run out of time, I would have sent it back for a refund. I've owned a few Escorts in the past and this one seem to be excellent at long range. They got that part right. I do not, however, appreciate the fact that I cannot hear the thing. I feel as though Escort if trying to force my hand to keep the (spyware) Escort Bluetooth app open all of the time. Unless the radar detector connects to your phone thought blue tooth, and sends the alert tones through your phone, you will not hear the alert while playing loud music in your vehicle. This is first and only radar detector that I have every purchased that cannot be heard over the car radio. This is also the first radar detector that begs to connect to your phone. ... show more
