So much Threaded goodness of 500 or so, DMC floss colors! Complete and the most current threaded color card released to date. All 35 new colors are included. While there have been comments about 16 missing colors, this is incorrect. A quick search yields the following explanation. All 16 colors are shown, along with thread samples: Quote “Those 16 threads are specific to Northern America and aren’t sold elsewhere in the world. Its due to the dyes they use. You tend not to find them used in commercial patterns for this reason. However, DMC made new threads to replace these elsewhere in the world, which are: 3880 replaced with 223 3881 replaced with 164 3882 replaced with 839 3883 replaced with 722 3884 replaced with 535 3885 replaced with 312 3886 replaced with 3685 3887 replaced with 208 3888 replaced with 3740 3889 replaced with 445 3890 replaced with 3766 3891 replaced with 995 3892 replaced with 740 3893 replaced with 543 3894 replaced with 907 3895 replaced with 646” I printed the above color info and placed it in my color card for reference. Lastly, Although priced higher than buying direct, the $40 price is fair considering it’s always on back order and hard to find. This will be invaluable for making color and fiber choices for my thread painting and other embroidery projects. Far more useful than a printed version. Touching the actual threads helps me evaluate the textures. The covers and foldout centers are of sturdy, thick, almost glossy, low sheen card stock which should stand up to lots of use and handling. It could also be pinned up to a planning board. Remember that your room lighting affects the colors you see-daylight bulbs will give most accurate vision when choosing skeins to buy. Or even walk outside to view true colors. I paid a little more at Amazon but the prime shipping and quick delivery tipped the scales in their direction vs buying directly from DMC.

This card contains the 35 new regular colors, plus other specialty ones as well, including variegated and the E-series, and thickness samples for the Perle coton series. You'll have to make a bit of effort to make sense of the numbering method, but it's not hard to use, and with this card in hand you can match any thread quickly and easily. If you've never bought a color card, you may be tempted to go with the cheaper printed card. Trust me, it's worth the price difference to get this one - you get *actual thread samples,* not a photo, which makes all the difference. This is my second color card. I'm amazed by how different it is from my first one bought years ago. DMC was always the best in the business but they did not rest on their laurels - they continue to expand the range of available colors, thickness and textures. Well done DMC.

This card had the actual embroidery threads on it! It is sorted by color families and so easy to use! When to use it?? When you are kitting a project and have all the colors except one or two.. you can check to see what the color should be and if there is a similar color that would be close enough to swap out! Also as you are working on a project and threads get scattered .. you can figure out which threads go with which floss bundle!!

The media could not be loaded. I was hesitant at first after reading some of the reviews. OMG…some of them received a color paneled picture of thread color? I went out on a limb and ordered after reading about the return policy. The cost was well worth it. The quality, variety of colors…well all of the colors of embroidery thread is well worth the cost versus collecting them all. I can now view what colors work best with my embroidery masterpieces! Too help with functionality, I did the poor man’s lamentation of the front and back covers with tape. I live in a humid location.

The actual floss samples of colors are truly better than printed colors.

Unlike the most recent reviews, the item I received has actual thread for all the colors. It will help me organize leftover thread and match colors. I wish it had been packaged more carefully, as the corner is crushed and the plastic wrapping was ripped. The damage does not effect it's usefulness, but is annoying for such an expensive item purchased new. Buyers might want to know it is larger than I expected - it is larger than a standard size notebook. Also, the threads are assorted by kind, then color. They are NOT displayed in number order, which I think might make it more confusing to use if you are trying to find a specific thread by number. And, as usual with DMC products, the notes are in several different languages. Necessary for the brand, but makes it a little more cumbersome to use. Since it's from France, I guess I should be thankful for the English. LOL
