They sound amazing. Punchy, with tight lows. Top end is bright. My only complaint is that they feel a little sticky compared to other Slinky strings; they are similar to how stainless steel strings feel. I can live with that, given that they sound so good.

Normally, I use the Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky 45-105 set, And I enjoy using them, however I wanted to Try the cobalt and they sound very bright, crisp, and very punchy especially in my Fender Precision bass. I’m definitely gonna buy these again

Fantastic tonality, holds up to tuning changes (excellent for drop tunings), longest lasting strings I've gotten for heavy use as far as roundwounds go. Sustained notes don't warble or muddy, even in Drop A tunings. Clean ring out. Comfortable to play. Tone: Full, round, with a nice crunch. Deep lows, warm mids, bright highs. Well balanced. The strings cut the fingers and stick in the strings when playing. after a few hours of playing it improves. but the sound out put is great. much louder and more reactive. bit of a twang to it though.

I LOVE the tone of these strings. If you need the Mike Dirnt sound, this will get you there with most Fender-style bass guitars. I often tell people to try these before they change their pickup. Unfortunately, they are expensive, and the tone lasts about 2 months before the strings are dead like as a doornail. I have switched to Exlier's for longevity but I miss being able to make the Longview tone on command. ... show more

I went to buy a replacement set as I had been using EB Cobalts for a while now. I noticed a "used" set posted in original packaging and in good condition, so I thought I could save a few bucks and break-in time. Unfortunately, the "E" was already unraveling and the original buyer returned them and Amazon resold them. Once the outer ribbon starts unraveling they're no good. The original buyer had cut the string, probably before bending it, and it unraveled. Good for the buyer, bad for me. I requested a return and ordered a "new" set. That set came the next day and worked great! Lessons learned, 1) don't buy used strings, 2) bend before cutting or wind the whole string(looks unsightly I know) and 3) buy Amazon as they back their products and mistakes. ... show more
