    • The savings in ink will quickly pay for this wonderful printer.
I have a small business which does a LOT of color printing. My ink costs were thru the roof. I bought this printer simply because of the promise of ink savings. It took me several months to use only ONE of the sets of ink provided, (there were three sets with the printer). Before this printer, my ink costs for that same time period would have been just under 600.00. Now, a set of ink will cost 100.00 and lasts for months. But that's not the only thing I love about this printer. The print quality is amazing and the ability to match paper and quality, fast and slow modes, etc give me more control than I have had with any other printer. Additionally, there is a front feeding paper cartridge, and a back feeding cartridge. I can fill one with plain paper, and one with presentation paper, and be ready to print anything I need without having to switch paper! It feeds everything from velum to heavy cardstock without hesitation. The scanner works great. I don't use the fax function, but its there for those who need it. Delivered WAY above my expectations. The only negative is that if a print nozzle does clog, this printer uses a LOT of ink to clear it. Simple solution is to shut the printer down occasionally. On restart, it will do a quick clean, and avoid clogging. I did not know this and ever shut mine off... but do now, and no further issues! ... show more

    • APO/DPO/FPO DO NOT PURCHASE!! Attention Military/AMAZON/AAFES/NEX - DO NOT PURCHASE EPSON PRODOCTS
PRODUCT ERROR 100069 - UNIT MUST BE REPLACED. SUDDENLY USELESS AFTER 1 year and 1 week of use. Coincidence for those who kept to the one year warranty? I think not. Even though I extended to a Two year warranty.... After several frustrating calls... including speaking to a rep in the Corporate office; Per Sal in Corporate Office... Products under warranty when user is outside of the 50 States —- are not eligible for a replacement unit to be shipped to a US Military address. So I have been told I’m simply out of luck on this nearly $1000 printer that is after 1 year and 1 week (even though still another year of warranty as registered) which is suddenly nothing more than a paperweight!! They refuse to ship to APO,AP by USPS. They are also unwilling to fill out the Form 2976a that would allow them to keep within their policy of only shipping via Fed Ex... which would enable them to honor the product warranty for military members overseas. Per Sal... they will not fill out the form, will not ship USPS, will not send to overseas address ... period. THIS IS WHETHER PURCHASED THROUGH AMAZON OR YOUR BASE EXCHANGE/NEX. SO TO MY FELLOW MILITARY BASE CUSTOMERS; IF YOU ARE EHERE READING REVIEWS BEFORE DECIDING ON WHICH EPSON PRODUCT TO PURCHASE FROM YOUR BASE RETAILER.... DO NOT PURCHASE ANY EPSON PRODUCT WHILE ASSIGNED AT A US MILITARY INSTALLATION ABROAD. EPSON DOES NOT SUPPORT ITS US MILITARY CUSTOMERS OVERSEAS BY HONORING THEIR WARRANTY REPLACEMENT PRODUCT SHIPMENT BECAUSE YOU ARE SERVING OVERSEAS. They also refused to collaborate with the Japan offices to try to ship between companies for me. Refund not an option.     • What a great small office printer
what a great small office printer. It was very easy to set up provided you follow the prompts and go all the way through it. I set up two printers. The first one took about 30 minutes. The second one about 10 minutes. The print quality is amazing. The pigment ink (versus dye ink) is dry immediately. no smudging at all. Very fast double-sided printing for an inkjet printer. Copy quality is almost an exact dup. In some cases, the copy comes out better than the original. I bought two of these printers. one for my folks and one for me and could not be happier. The cloud services also work great. Having email print is a really cool feature where you forward your email (with pdf, word, or other) attachments to the printer's new email address and it prints the email and all attachments. I have used that feature a lot. So far, it is very good on ink consumption. I have only had them for a month so we will see over time but so far I'm at about 90% ink left. I have not been paid for this review. I just really like the printer. Have a great day and Print-On.... ... show more

    • Top quality print but a hog with using color ink
I wanted a higher quality printer that would be problem free for a long time & I feel with the 8700 I've got it. Doesn't drop wi - fi connections, prints 2 sided if desired, very fast & relatively quiet. The black ink bag is larger than the colored ones & most of the time it set for ' black ' only. I'm into photography & yesterday a friend came by with a memory stick which he had some photos on. He had 2 sheets of 8 x 11 glossy photo paper & wanted to use my printer. On the right 3rd of each image was a bright red painted pole. The results of the 2 printed 8 x 11s were fantastic ! In each the red pole ' shone ' & were very detailed ! As we were admiring the prints the computer monitor warned that the magenta ink was near empty ! I have 2 extras magenta ' pouches ' that came with the printer but I went ahead & checked on Amazon's cost for one - $25.00 - which isn't bad but at the rate this printer can go through colored ink at the higher quality setting . . . I've decided to set a $ $ $ collection gar next to the printer. Next time I'll lower the Quality setting & see if it's acceptable & with less ink consumed. Other wise I'm happy with the printer. ... show more

    • Does not print double sided up to 8.5 x 14
This printer boasts 2-sided printing and a maximum print size of 8.5 x 14 inches, but you can't print double sided at 8.5 x 14. It is extremely misleading. I never would have bought it had I know that. Printing directly from in-design I found the text to to be unacceptably bad. Printing from a PDF file improved it somewhat. The print options are minimal, the scanner seems fine, the photo quality is good except that many of my photos end up with light lines running all the way through them. Overall I have been very unhappy with the quality of this product. ... show more
