Though it's a bit clumsy to place on the recorder, this windscreen needs to just stay on it no matter what. Blocking out wind is only half of its usefulness; it also kills (or mitigates) the hard p sounds and some sibilance from the s sound as well. Highly recommneded.

I bought this windscreen way too long after getting my recorder. It should've been something I bought with it, but I cheaped out at the time. After using the recorder on a couple windy days and having pretty much unusable audio, I finally smartened up and bought the muff. The first day I used it was while getting content at an airport and it worked like a dream. Audio was clear as a bell. It's even made my indoor audio better and clearer. Can't stress enough that if you are going to get a portable recorder or microphone, make sure you purchase a windscreen along with it so that you don't have to deal with bad audio. ... show more

Wind protection is good but putting this windscreen is awfully annoying. Will need to bu another one that can fit better.

I used this for the first time recently and found it to be highly effective. There was a moderate but variable breeze blowing while we recorded outdoors and yet I had no audible popping at all.

    • Doesn't fit!!
This is TOO SMALL for a Tascam DP 40X. Why is it being sold as a suitable windscreen? It's not! Difficult to get around the body of the recorder and there's absolutely no way to turn the microphones in the out-facing position with this muff on the recorder. Don't buy this for that machine!
