The Epson ScanSmart Accounting Edition software extracts key data from scanned images, safely stores the information to your computer, network, or the cloud, and downloads the data to popular third party accounting software programs such as QuickBooks and Excel. The ES-55R includes Nuance OCR, so you can create searchable PDFs and editable Word and Excel files. The scanner easily fits into a purse, backpack, or briefcase for the on-the-go professional. Yet it is also the fastest and lightest mobile single-sheet-fed document scanner in its class (3). The ES-55R scans a single page in as fast as 5.5 seconds (4).1. It was easy to use and set up it sits on my desk for everyday use and I'm very happy with it. I was very impressed with the speed of how this thing operates there is nothing else to do it automatically appears on your screen you push one button and it does its thing.

Love this little scanner. It is much smaller than I thought, which is a benefit if you have limited space in your office. It’s also small enough you can easily tuck it into your briefcase if you’re going on a trip or need something for your personal matters at work. I would have given this 5 stars but it doesn't work with Windows 10 correctly - the Epson software constantly crashes. The scanner works ok with Windows Fax and Scan but that software is very limited compared to the Epson software.

We purchased this desktop scanner 9 months ago and it has been used minimally. The scanner began putting a black line down the center of the scanned document several weeks ago. We purchased the recommended cleaning paper and used it per the directions. After attempting to clean the scanner it now blacks out 2/3 of the document being printed. I called the tech support for this scanner and after a series of questions they determined the scanner is not repairable "a crystal inside the scanner" is defective. They will not replace the scanner because it was purchased through what they refer to as third-party seller through Amazon. They acknowledge the defect, but have found a workaround to not back up their product. This $200+ scanner did not last one year and Epson does not back up their products. ... show more

Pro: easy if it works, small, has options to save. The image looks great. Con: now it is starting the scan and then the save tab just closes out on its own, sometimes it fast saves and I can’t find it again cuz I don’t know the name, the device says it’s working properly but then won’t start a scan sometimes all day. I use it for business docs and it’s a common joke that the scanner is taking some PTO cuz it only works half of the time. And I do sometimes get the black streak and it always scans a little off center. And sometimes it blocks out what I want to scan and says it is private info without letting me change it which I can see after it has scanned but kinda makes the other saving features pointless. I’ve had it for a little over two years and I’m over it. Didn’t buy on Amazon but the store I got it from is out of business and is also 2 hours away so….
