  • Great rapid scanner with OCR software for bills, receipts, etc.!
Style: RR-600W Pattern: Scanner
Got this to electronically scan all of our old bills, receipts, warranty paperwork, etc. This scanner lets you scan multiple size items at once and it automatically sizes as appropriate. It is very fast and works flawlessly. The included software does a great job of anticipating whether the scanned item is a receipt, bill, invoice, etc. and you can name the document and store in any number of formats to suit your needs. We use this all the time in our little home office and I am always impressed on how fast and well this works. Does great in eliminating all the annoying paper copies we have stored over the years. Just remember to back up your scanned copies to a secure cloud location or a separate drive for safe keeping, just in case! ... show more

  • Great scanner
Style: RR-600W - Renewed Pattern: Scanner
I love this scanner. It doesn’t take a lot of room. It was pretty easy to set up and figure out and it has great options for your daily work. I particularly wanted this model, because you can save in TIFF format and other Formats. It easily saves things to your PC. It saves me from jumping up and down all day going into the main scanner room. ... show more

  • Great Scanner, very limited receipt software.......
Style: RR-600W - Renewed Pattern: Scanner
The Rapidreceipts software does read the receipts quickly and does OCR to fill a receipt form......but if you want to keep your receipts long term, or have many to scan, then this software has serious limitations as it only acts as a "bridge" to quickbooks or some other accounting software. I wanted a replacement to Neat receipts which has its own receipt database and you can export as needed......not with this software. Until I called Epson tech support did I realize why I couldn't do what I needed. Otherwise the scanner hardware is fast, accurate but they shouldn't call it a receipt scanner without disclosing limitations. The killer is that there are a lot of receipt apps for your phone.....well I don't want to be taking picturs one by one, worrying about light & shadows, then the lenght of the receipts, etc. hence why I wanted a scanner. ... show more

  • Fast and great!
Style: RR-600W Pattern: Scanner
Wonder why I didn't buy this sooner! The small store reciepts come out crystal clear so never have to physically store all those AND greater to organize for good ol tax season. It's scan super fast too - the first one I did I jumped it was so quick, lol.

  • TLDR: Never believe tech company claims, but meh than most printer/scanners for some tasks
Style: RR-600W Pattern: Scanner
This review has been updated at the bottom after prolonged use, accounting for some of the change in star rating. Original Review (~5/2021): One of Epson's claims for this product, is that you can scan a stack of receipts and it will pull the financial information off and export to Quickbooks. This is standard tech company garbage, designed to lure you into purchasing the product and blaming yourself for not getting it set up correctly for just long enough to exceed the returns window. When you scan documents and attempt to use this feature, it is super buggy as it (of course) does not know what parts of receipts are the key pieces of info. How could it when you think about it, without the whole industry standardizing receipt layouts, or Epson maintaining a database on companies vs. their receipt types. If they use the latter method, and your workflow involves enough receipts from the same big box stores, maybe it will work for you. That being said, as a full time bookkeeper with multiple clients, this thing has been an improvement, just not anywhere near the level promised. It does scan double sided documents very quickly. It is quasi-portable, though a nuisance to move too often. At first I thought it chewed through receipts like a wood chipper, but soon realized it is just like most tray scanners, a hot-house orchid when it comes to staples or folds. Should your document have ever been folded or stapled, good luck getting it to scan as part of a stack. You'll have to feed it in on its own. Additionally, the UI for processing/saving the scans taken in is predictably awful. Too many clicks and too little customization/automation stick out during work flow. It takes way too many clicks to switch between compiling a single multi page PDF, or individual page ones. Even just to save each scan, it takes something like 4 clicks minimum per scan save when it could easily with software be made to just pop the files into a default location. The built in scanner interface in MacOs is, IMO, better for this, so you are better off just allowing MacOS to fetch the drivers or downloading drivers only from the Epson site. There are some on device settings for scanning that may help with document jam issues. Pros: Double Sided scanning that is very fast, so fast it may jam itself more often than it would otherwise, seemingly capable in terms of file output possibilities (USB/thumb drive/network) Cons: Clunky UI on app primarily and on device screen, type of touch screen is one of those slow, mushy ones that register a lot of mistaken touches, rather than smartphone-type responsive capacitive screens. Overall, if you are a bookkeeper, I would argue you need to try one of these types of scanners. Maybe this one, maybe not. If you have been using an app based smartphone scanner, or single sided printer scanner, this upgrade will be worth it, even if you stay angry at the false marketing claims for at least the first year of use. (Update ~ 8 months of use - 12/2021): I bought a second to have at a client office as work from home becomes less frequent there. I’ve noticed that using the MacOS built in scanner drivers and not installing the Epson software makes me a happier camper in terms of minimizing redundant clicks since all the controls I need are on one window at the same time. MacOS also converts receipts scanned into a full letter sized pdf rather than one sized to the aspect ratio of the item scanned (this means few crashes in mac preview while combining and exporting pdfs). This thing also doesn’t really like receipts and sheets of paper at the same time without jamming. Have learned to separate into categories for scanning. It also hates sticky notes. Duplex scanning at a fast rate is still great though, and scanning over wifi turns out to actually work via the MacOS drivers better. Worth the price (still), even though there are those false claims in the marketing to tick you off from time to time. (Update ~21 months of use - 01/2023): This scanner can and may just decide not to work on the network for you any longer. Scanner and two connecting computers updated, rebooted/power cycled, printer removed and re-added (shows up as addable, but then doesn't work). I suspect that something in the wifi firmware is shot, as it can connect, but shows permanently as being in the middle of a scan according to Epson's own software. Tried re-installing that btw. The TLDR is that the unit is now usb cabled only, which may invalidate your use case in the event you wanted it on a credenza or otherwise not cabled to say, a laptop, for instance. I don't know if I would recommend them again since two years of intermittently problematic use isn't great at a $400 price tag. (Update ~ 10 months of use - 02/2022 ): PLEASE NOTE, THIS UPDATE IS MAC SPECIFIC: Having upgraded two of my computers using two of these scanners, and attempting to add others on my network to the scanner, it has become apparent that Epson has made a change with regard to the availability of scanner drivers for this unit. Most printer and scanner companies make not insignificant revenue from information harvesting as well as bloatware advertising/supply hocking, and where in the past Epson allowed for downloads of the scanner's driver only, or even if memory serves allowing macOS to gather the driver only, installing the scanner on my 2021 MacBook w/M series apple silicon wasn't as easy as the Mac mini who'd gotten the drivers less than two months ago. It is still possible though, so I'm updating this review to share how. Epson now requires you to install it's Navi utility, which in turn guides you through a process of legal disclaimers and typical sign-away-your-life garbage before getting to the app selection screen for installation. You'll see scanner drivers as the first item, followed by the scanner utility (all ~400MB of it), and several other needless bloatware enabled by default. Three items will have their checkbox greyed out and uneditable. I suggest disabling any you can, while pulling up the Add Printer Dialog Box. Unlike before, you won't see the scanner available to be added until installing the drivers, so the key is to allow the software to install the drivers, and then immediately Force Quit the installer the second you see the epson scanner appear in the add scanner dialog box (get there by clicking the Apple logo on the menu bar, then system preferences, then printers and scanners, then the + icon below the list of printers currently enabled. Then trash any apps or portions thereof that managed to be installed as you were in the process of driver installation. (To Force Quit, simultaneously hold Command, Alt, and Escape, then select Navi and press the button labelled force quit). At this point, you will have gotten back to what Epson previously made simple, using MacOS's system scan utility to save yourself countless (~4 extra/instance changing save location, duplexing, or whether to save to separate or combined pdfs) frustrating extra clicks / scan due to poor UX planning and development. I have attached some screenshots I think might be helpful to this end. In terms of experience with the product, for the most part the hardware remains positive. It has still improved my workflow from that of the built in scanners on my Brother or HP printers. I should note if not already within prior review notes -- the scanner is incredibly finicky about multiple layers of paper. It will stop mid document if so much as a post-it note is detected on top of a sheet. I recently attempted scanning a window envelope to use for creating a Letterhead template in MacOS pages, such that I could place address and return address within the windows of the envelopes. I could not accomplish this without cutting the sides of the envelope off so that only one layer would feed through, even with turning off the settings that supposedly control this facet of the scanner's operation. Were I advising a company in this space, I'd urge them to consider an Apple-like approach to at least one model in their lineup-- if for the sake of profitability, the typical price model for such a scanner or printer is not enough to be sustainable, then maybe don't go the Facebook/Tv-maker route be sneaky about harvesting troves of user data to sell. Maybe instead find a price that works, and earn it through build quality and user experience. Has anyone ever made a scanner whose industrial design did more than try half heartedly not to be the worst thing on your desk? Has any company ever tried anodized aluminum for a housing, or used a screen that doesn't have that squishy non-capacitive touch screen? How much cost would it add to have four VESA mount threads on the back of a unit for someone who mounts devices in vehicle or workstation applications? At least relative to the premium one might charge. Say what you will of Apple, but they have figured this out as evidenced by a $999 monitor stand. I believe many users would pay a bit extra for the better feeling state obtained through design and an assurance that their system resources are not being hijacked for low-grade marketing espionage. ... show more

  • No Computer Necessary! I push scans directly to NAS while stand alone.
Style: RR-600W Pattern: Scanner
I had this setup within 30 minutes, scanning documents to QNAP NAS with SMB share. It took a while( another 30 minutes ) to setup config for optimal performance for what I wanted, including custom icons. It does not scan like shown on TV for multi-page documents, I have to put a multi-page document in face down, upside down. Wifi works as if connected to PC. Scan2 works alongside the older Scan software, the drivers do not interfere. Epson Smart Panel from Android works too, scanned directly to phone first attempt. Scan quality is good, I did notice some tilted scans, I think was due to the exit tray pages blocking current scanning page. There are some Epson prompts that go away in 3 seconds, which works, just not the firmware one. Currently, I would buy this RR600W document scanner again just for the large display, stand alone features, scan directly to SMB Share. There is also Cloud and USB Stick destinations, I have not tested all the other features for receipts and OCR which is an advertised sweet point. This scans so fast I would not want my old, one of a kind, photos to go through it without protection; use a table scanner. ... show more
