This UST projector outputs beautiful images over 4k. I'm projecting this unit on a 120" floor rising ALR projector screen with 95% ambient light rejecting capabilities and the results are night and day. Initially I tried to project the unit on to several different walls and I had little luck getting the images to line up properly and the keystone correction via app would not even detect the image and error out. I even leveled the projector just to be sure but that didn't seem to correct it. As a UST projector newbie, I was unaware of the intricacies involved in the type of screen required for best image and fine tuning the rectangular shape for that matter. It is only after much trial and error and thorough research I found out that UST projectors tend to be finicky about walls and screens. The built-in android OS is fluid and the apps are snappy. I am able to use all the major streaming apps I normally use on Apple TV. Given that the speaker is built-in, the quality is surprisingly good. It sounds relatively full when using in a room but when moved into a larger area don't expect a home theater sound experience. I like how the keystone correction is simplified with the use of the Epson app. You simply take multiple photos of the image projected with your phone and the app will correct for you. Note that the app has failed to detect the image projected on my walls but it detected and corrected just fine on the ALR screen. There are three HDMI inputs so I can connect two video game consoles and a media player connected at all times without having to get a HDMI switch. Even with the use of 95% ambient light rejecting screen, I feel that the brightness is slightly lacking for my taste. When mirroring my laptop, small texts embedded in the url appear not as crisp as it appears on the laptop screen. I wouldn't say it's blurry but it's noticeably less quality in comparison. The projector offers HDR but lacks Dolby Vision. When I compare my 100" mini-led TV to this projector on a 120" screen, the mini-led TV is brighter and looks better but the experience of watching sports, movies, and playing video games on this life-sized projector is jaw-dropping. Even retro fighting games like Street Fighter looked life-size. TV shows, movies, and games all have a different feel now and I can't imagine going smaller. I will definitely be using this projector for gaming and movies going forward. If you are in the market for a UST projector that can project beautiful images from 80" - 150", have a perfectly straight wall without texture, have a tensioned screen or ALR screen, understand what intricacies of UST setups require, this projector is a good choice.

I’m not an audio-video expert, so I don’t know the best terms to describe the projector or its capabilities. Before getting the Epson Lifestudio Grand Plus Ultra Short Throw projector, I didn’t even know such an item existed. I love projectors because they transform a movie night at home into an event. Just like in the old days, the movie experience begins before you leave the house. You eagerly anticipate movies being released and the excitement of seeing them on the big screen. The large screen changes the dynamics of a movie; you don’t just follow a story or character; you actively watch the movie screen and everything on it with full attention. The audio is crucial in transporting you into the movie. The sounds, voices, music, and even the smallest details of life’s movement relate to what you’re seeing, immersing you in the movie and making you a part of it. While you can look at the stats, the screen is enormous, crisp, and defined. There’s no blur in movement unless the director intentionally wants it that way. Even during the day, the colors are vibrant and precise. The sound is incredible, but I wouldn’t expect anything less. Bose speakers complete this into a home theater experience. With the image and sound, you’re watching the movie, every single part of it. You’re not just seeing the characters; you’re hearing the words and becoming part of the movie. I can’t imagine a high-end TV delivering what the Lifestudio Grand Plus can. I don’t like the look of a large TV taking up a wall; it makes any room just a TV room, regardless of the size of the television. It’s an eyesore and limits the room’s potential use. I also don’t like a projector hanging from the ceiling; it’s a distraction and always looks like a home-built version of a home theater. The projector discreetly sits on a cabinet with photos and other items, blending in and not drawing attention. When you finally realize it’s there, you think it’s there for music. A room is not confined to a single purpose; it can transform into whatever you desire at any given moment. When it’s time to create a home theater, there’s no need for extensive setup or rearrangement. Simply press a button, and the theater experience begins. It’s an exceptional investment in your entertainment, and there’s no better way to spend your money. You can enjoy this for yourself while also providing those around you with an unforgettable experience. While it may cost more than most would consider, if you factor in the number of hours it’s used each week, the price becomes much more reasonable. Not to mention the significant improvement in quality you’ll experience.

Just got this thing set up and honestly it’s pretty impressive. The picture is huge. I went with about a 120 inch screen and it looks great even with some ambient light in the room with my alr screen. The 4,000 lumens is no joke, it holds up way better than I expected in a non-blacked-out space. One thing worth noting though is that you really do want an ALR screen to get the full experience out of this. Without one the colors come across a bit more muted and you’re leaving a lot of the picture quality on the table. Epson sells them separately so factor that into your budget if you’re going all in on this setup, but I went with a more budget option and am happy with it. The Bose audio built in is genuinely good. Like, better than I thought it would be for something integrated. Not replacing a dedicated surround setup but for an all-in-one it’s solid. Google TV with Gemini works exactly like you’d expect. Easy to navigate, finds content fast, voice control actually works. Setup was pretty straightforward overall. Dropping one star just because the price is steep and the initial setup and calibration takes some patience to dial in. But if you’re looking for a true all-in-one UST setup without running a bunch of separate devices, this is hard to beat at this level. Glad I got it

WOW! This is an amazing projector. This is the third projection unit in my collection and it sits so far above the others, there is no comparison. It is heavy and it is large. We were stunned when a giant box showed up with team lift icons. This device is meant to be placed in your home theater and left alone. So far, we have heard zero fan noise or anything else that lessens our watching experience. 4,000 lumens is several times more than my next best projector and it is plainly evident in being able to watch with lights on or off and being just as happy. We've had several guests come over to reduce our bias and all 10 have said wow, this is the best home projector they have ever seen. Brightness and color clarity and accuracy are outstanding. Blacks are suffiently black. We tested the black of HDR10 by watching The Long Night, one of the most notoriously dark episodes ever, and we were able to see what we missed when watching on a standard 4k TV. Zero sports ball lag detected so far. We also tested this by running high detail video games with intricate backgrounds and the color / detail were outstanding there too. - We have various degrees of live sports lag across tvs, sticks, projectors etc. So far, this has the least broadcast lag of all devices including those designed in Cupertino. Some small annoyances: - Still have not figured out how to take the access panel door off to get to the HDMI ports. - All manuals are online and Epson tries to force you into downloading their app immediately by disguising it as the instruction manual or connection helper. - The box is very self aware and protective. Any sort of approach results in a warning beep and the screen going blank to protect the projection equipment. - The short throw projection means that every flaw in your screen is immediately and fully highlighted and sticks out as the focus of your vision experience. - The integrated Bose sound system ranges from soft to medium. Comfortable listening levels are from 65-80% depending on the show. It does not offer any sort of rumble, probably because vibrations would impact the projection. - The settings controls are frustrating. Once you get into a setting detail, you cannot go back to the menu. Only option is to completely exit settings and work your way through the whole Android TV menu again. - Still have not found the Projector Settings. Only the Android TV settings. (See complaint 1 about the digital manual being a trick to get you to download the app) - The projection lens is a dust magnet. No surprise there though. - Requires me to completely reconfigure my home theater to make this the centerpiece.

I’ll start by saying I’m not an AV expert, but I do appreciate good picture quality and an easy setup—and this projector honestly delivered on both. My tech loving boyfriend was absolutely blown away by this unit. Setup was much easier than I expected for something this high-end. The ultra short throw design means you can place it just an inch from the wall and still get a massive image, which makes it way more practical than traditional projectors. In under half an hour, I had a screen that felt like a movie theater in my living room. The picture quality here is incredible. The 4K PRO-UHD image is sharp and bright, even during the daytime in a well lit room on a super sunny day. Colors look vivid without being overblown. HDR content especially stands out (I can see every pore on newscasters' faces!). From what I understand, the 3LCD technology helps with color accuracy and brightness, and it definitely shows—everything looks crisp and well-balanced like real life. Literally like you're standing in front of a real life action movie. It's immersive. I can't think of a better word to describe it. That said, I do want to be honest... You really need a quality screen to get the most out of this. If you’re just projecting onto a regular wall, it still looks good—but once you pair it with a proper ALR screen, the difference is huge. Blacks get deeper, contrast improves, and the whole image just looks more “premium.” The difference is nearly indescribable. I think having a good ALR screen is critical here to make this price point worth it. Another surprise... The sound quality on this this is phenomenal. It fills the entire room with crisp, clear sound and thumping bass as if there was an entire surround sound system. This built-in Bose system is honestly one of the most impressive parts of this projector. I expected it to be “good for a projector,” but it’s actually good, period. I don't know how they get so much sound that throws in all directions. It's truly incredible. The dialogue is crystal clear (even whispers) and the bass is tremendous. It sounds closer to a full room sound system than a built-in speaker setup. Bose tuning really makes a difference here, especially with the depth and low-end punch. You can actually *feel* explosions instead of just hearing them-just like at a movie theater. I think you could even play just music through this unit and it would sound incredible. I haven't tried that yet though. The Epson setup app that helps with alignment and screen sizing made the initial setup much easier than I expected. You can also use their mobile app as a remote or to cast content from your phone, although I found myself mostly just using the standard remote and built-in apps. In the future I might have more use for the app, as it seems pretty robust. The Google TV interface is fabulous and simple to use. Everything is built in, including Netflix, YouTube, etc. No extra devices needed. It feels like using a high end smart tv, which I loved. You can also control the unit with your voice via Google Voice Assistant (so handy!) and cast from your phone or tablet. This is one of those products that feels like a true “all-in-one” home theater solution with every possible bell and whistle. You get a massive, high-quality picture (which is Huge by the way. 150 inches!) , incredibly impressive built-in sound, and an easy setup that doesn’t require a full AV background. If you’re someone who wants a theater-like experience without building a complicated setup, this is a really solid choice that will definitely make your friends who geek out over high end AV jealous. It's truly a one stop shop ultra premium home theater experience.

I’ve been using the Epson Lifestudio Grand Plus as a living‑room “laser TV” for movies, streaming, and a mix of console and PC gaming, and when you treat it as a big‑screen TV replacement, it’s a genuinely fun unit to live with. Setup is straightforward and the initial image looks good fast, but getting the picture perfectly centered and not skewed takes more fiddling than the marketing suggests. The pixel‑shifting 4K does a convincing job on a big screen, and HDR can look very nice once you tame it for your room. Sound from the Bose‑tuned speakers is totally room‑dependent: in a smaller or more acoustically controlled space it holds up better, but in my open room with two hallways it thins out quickly and basically begs for a soundbar or surround system. The real frustration is that for a brand‑new 4K “laser TV,” a bunch of the interesting picture tools—Game mode behavior, AIPQ, and de‑contour—are either locked down or unavailable, which makes it feel like we’re being asked to review half a product. Pros Image quality is great once dialed in: bright, punchy, and sharp enough that movies and console games feel “near‑4K” across a big wall. HDR can add real depth, better highlights, and richer colors for supported content when the room lights are under control. Overall setup is extremely easy: solid packaging, a clean unboxing, and simple menus to get a usable picture quickly. HDMI plays nicely with consoles and streaming boxes, with no handshake drama in normal use. Optical audio output is reliable and makes it simple to hand sound off to a soundbar or AVR for a proper home‑theater feel. For console gaming, the basic feel is good and low‑latency modes keep things playable for big‑screen story games and sports, even if it’s not an esports rig. As a living‑room TV replacement for streaming, movies, and casual gaming, it’s convenient, easy, and honestly just cool to use. In a smaller or acoustically treated room, the built‑in Bose‑tuned speakers can sound surprisingly decent and more balanced than a lot of built‑in TV speakers. Cons It does not beat a large OLED TV in overall picture quality—black levels and contrast are clearly behind a good OLED set. It is not a real PC monitor replacement; the refresh, latency, and feel are not ideal for serious PC gaming or desktop use. Resolution handling and motion make it feel compromised for PC/media‑box use even if you’re not a hardcore “native 4K only” person. HDR, while good for a projector, is still limited by light output: it looks best in a darker room and never has the punch of a high‑end TV. Centering and squaring the image takes time and patience; getting rid of tilt and skew isn’t hard, but it is tedious. Built‑in sound is underwhelming in open rooms: it’s relatively quiet, with almost no low‑end or rumble, so immersion is weak without external speakers. In open floorplans with hallways and hard surfaces, the “Bose” branding doesn’t save it—the sound loses body and impact quickly. There are visible particles under or inside the front glass that don’t disappear even with a proper static‑free wipe, which is the kind of thing you can’t un‑see. UHD and several deeper picture/graphic options are locked out for PC/media‑box inputs, which feels wrong on something sold as a 4K system. Game mode behavior is a mixed bag: on one hand it simplifies things by auto‑handling latency, but on the other it’s effectively locked down so you can’t really fine‑tune how much processing is happening. AIPQ—the AI picture processing headliner—is locked out, which is odd for a “4K AI” projector and makes it feel like the hardware is being intentionally held back. De‑contour is disabled, even though that’s exactly the control that should help fix banding in high‑contrast HDR scenes on a 4K projector. With core options like Game mode tuning, AIPQ, and de‑contour unavailable, it’s hard to give a fully fair review of a brand‑new model because so much of the picture pipeline is off‑limits in the menus. Closing assessment I really do enjoy this projector—it’s easy to live with, makes a huge, bright image that’s a blast for movies and console games, and feels like a real step forward for everyday “laser TV” life. But right now it also feels like a half‑finished product on the software side. Calling this a 4K AI projector while locking out AIPQ, de‑contour, and a lot of the deeper picture controls (especially for PC/media‑box inputs) doesn’t make sense, and it puts a ceiling on what we can honestly say about its full potential. If Epson unlocks those features in upcoming firmware or beta updates, this could very easily move into 5‑star territory. In its current state, it’s an awesome Roku/Firestick/Google/console “laser TV,” but not a fully honest PC/media display and not the fully tweakable 4K system the hardware suggests. For now, it stays at 4 stars: very cool to use, but clearly waiting on software to catch up.
