  • Fast dry prints with no smear
Color: White
I really like this printer. Granted, the ET-2980 may not be the most economical printer of choice, but has the features and print options that I desire. Setup is a bit time consuming. However it is straight forward and easily accomplished. When finished, add the last remaining ink. Connection through WIFI_Direct took two tries with each of our two phones. Windows 11 took multiple tries but eventually cooperated. On line help not much help. Tip: After downloading all the support files and driver ZIP file. Extract the driver files. Then burn all executable files to a CD. Most documents to be printed come from either of our phones. The process is easier and quicker than in the past. Printing options/settings are handled easier through the phone app than through Windows. Settings are preset through Windows Settings. Not through the print driver. Documents need to be PDF. • Nice standard printer at a reasonable price to operate
Color: Black
This is our second printer of this type and I have to say I love the EcoTank's. They are easy to refill any ink needed and the ink refills are quite reasonable compared to the cartridges that also tend to be messy. I thought these would be messy, but the way the ink is introduce, there is really little chance that you can make a mess. Quality is quite good, although if print quality is a concern, you may want to look at another printer - we just use this to print random documents in the office and it works great! ... show more

  • Buyer beware - this printer isn't ready to be on the market Buyer beware - this printer isn't ready to be on the market
Color: White
I rarely leave negative reviews, and to be honest, for the life of me I don't know how this printer has good reviews. I had a few major issues with it. First, the print was pitiful. I am attaching a picture that was printed with the Epson (right side) and the same picture printed with another printer. The difference is astonishing - and this is printing at 600 DPI. The next step up is 1200 DPI, but this printer doesn't have enough memory capacity to handle that high of a DPI, even for this little 3" picture. Second, duplex printing. Every time I tried printing duplex (double sided) it would print the first page, draw the paper back in and then print the "second side" on it's own paper. So duplex printing was basically printing two separate pages - pointless. Third, every single time I wanted to print I would have to go through screens on the printer confirming the paper selection and whatever else, there was no straightforward printing. I'd be remiss if I didn't also mention that almost each time I printed I'd have to reconnect the printer to the computer. Oh - and it is SLOW. Wish I'd taken pictures of the amount of ink it uses too. This printer guzzles ink. I don't know where it all goes, as it certainly isn't going to print vibrant pictures. Remember, the photo I am sharing is the BEST print quality this printer could muster. I can't wait for UPS to get this thing out of my hair tomorrow. I guess that's more than a few issues. Maybe I got a defective unit, but there were way too many issues for me to think it is defective, as a defective item usually only has one or two single issues. I always though Epson was a good brand. I won't ever buy another Epson. ... show more

  • Great print quality and easy ink system, but tray control could be improved Great print quality and easy ink system, but tray control could be improved
Color: Black
I’ve been very happy with the print and copy quality on the Epson ET-2980. Text is sharp, colors look good, and it handles everyday printing and copying without any issues. For what I use it for, it’s been reliable and consistent. One of the standout features is the EcoTank ink system. The refill bottles are well-designed and truly “no mess”—they only fit the correct tank and stop automatically, which makes refilling simple and clean compared to traditional cartridges. Usability is generally good, especially with the automatic output tray that opens when printing. That’s a nice upgrade over older printers where you had to pull the tray out manually. That said, there are a couple of design limitations worth noting: There is no document scanner (ADF). This wasn’t a problem for me since I don’t need multi-page scanning, but it could matter depending on your use. The LCD screen is small with a narrow viewing angle, so you often have to tilt it to read the menu clearly. Closing the output tray (“Store Output Tray”) is more complicated than it should be. It requires navigating through menus, and the button sensitivity can cause you to skip past the option. This feels like something that could be improved with a simple firmware shortcut. Overall, if you don’t need an automatic document feeder and want a printer with excellent print quality and a very user-friendly ink system, this is a solid choice. Just be aware of the minor usability quirks with the display and tray controls. ... show more

  • Bargain EcoTank
Color: White
I have read many horror stories about problems people have encountered setting up -- and running -- HP printers. That's why I am delighted to report that I set up this Epson EcoTank all-in-one with absolutely NO problems, and it seems to work like a champ for printing, scanning, and copying. Well, I did encounter one minor problem setting up this guy -- it seems that Epson's website doesn't play well with my Firefox browser and didn't display the driver downloads available. Fortunately, I switched to the Chrome browser, and the problem was solved. I got five years out of my last Epson EcoTank printer until it started having paper handling issues, so I hope to get that much or more from this one, which has a simpler paper path. This printer is also quieter than that bigger unit and is chockful of thoughtful details, like doors covering the paper input and output, a tilting control panel for easy viewing and access, and an entirely intuitive user interface delivered on the machine's little color screen. All this, including four bottles of ink, for two hundred and change -- me like!!! ... show more

  • Good overall printer
Color: White
I actually purchased the ET-2980 and was sent the 2988 which is the same printer but, includes an extra bottle of black ink. I set the printer up with an iPad with Epson's Smart Panel app and it went very smoothly. I bought a ream of Epson EcoTank Paper and it prints very good on that. I had some HP Presentation paper and it printed even better with deeper colors and contrast on that. I also had some old Epson Photo Luster paper and that printed exceptionally great. I did all the printing from a M1 MacBook Pro 14" and while it worked fine, there is not as much control in the print dialog as the last time I owned an Epson which was probably around 2005. The scanner works fine. After filling the ink tanks the printer does an 11 minute initialization which pumps ink through the tubes to the print heads. That brought the ink level down a little bit so, after that I had some in the bottles and filled the tank up to full again. Except the black was still slightly below full. I will wait for the level to go down about one quarter of the way before opening the extra black bottle. A full image letter page prints in about a minute in best mode with plain paper setting. With Photo Paper in Best setting a full letter page takes about 3 minutes to print. Unfortunately I bought this printer to give Epson a try because my HP Smart Tank 7602 got a clog in the color head and I couldn't clear it. Not with printing purge color pages, built in head cleaning or fluid flushing I watched on YouTube. I looked this printer up on rtings.com and it looked like Epson had improved their black density and they have. Blacks print nice and black now. On the downside, text is not quite as sharp as the HP Smart Tank but, still very good. I have noticed that text is much clearer printing from the iPad Epson Smart Panel App than my M1 MacBook Pro. I have tried pretty much every setting on Mac and it still prints darker, filled in text. It's super dark though. Epson is still using the same print head alignment and nozzle check as they did 20 plus years ago and much more difficult to determine than HP's way of doing it. I am going to print something in black and color every day to try to make sure I don't clog any of the head nozzles. The warranty says 1 Yr warranty or 50,000 prints which ever comes first and if registered within 1 year you get 2 year warranty or 50,000 prints. If the heads don't clog I will be very happy with this printer. ... show more

  • Printer seems great, setup should have been better
Color: Black
Setup is a very easy with a smartphone wizard. Filling the tanks is easy and there is no mess at all because of a very well designed filling system. Print quality is crisp. Connecting to WiFi required multiple attempts even with the correct SSID and password. Multiple tries failed, eventually I enabled the 2.4 GHz band and after another 3 attempts it connect and to the 5 GHz band as I had expected and wanted. One big surprise after the wonderful phone setup, the wizard provides a link to setup a Windows 11 computer. You would think that they would have the driver for the specific model there yet is was troubleshooting instructions that wasted my time. Looking around the Epson site, I found the printer section. They listed a number of common printers yet not this one. I did a search and wound up on a page that looked similar to the first one the smart phone app provided. I searched for ET-2980 and landed on a page designed to sell the printer. In small print was support and that lead to the printer downloads. Come on Epson, you can do better! At least the installer ran a wizard and took care of everything. Update after 6 months of ownership. This printer has a tendency to drop off the wireless network. It can work on 5-Ghz yet only if using WPA2. On Unifi network, using WPA2/3 does not work! Printer started displaying error message "Power off and on. If this does not clear the problem contact Epson Support. " Wow, this is not in the FAQ! All it means is there is a paper jam and that you must open the printer to check. Learned this from a support rep that could not guide me how to reinstall the roller assembly and did not know what a roller assembly is. In her mind, it's just the back panel. No documentation from Epson on this. Resorted to Youtube and fixed it my self quickly. Very frustrating. Such a nice printer yet too many issues for me to recommend. ... show more
