  • Very nice.
Size: 23 inch Color: Natural concert
This is an update after the following was written. Make sure you buy with Prime and check your your ukulele thoroughly before the return date. I have purchased 4 ukuleles from Enya and they have been near perfect. (I buy, setup and sell ukulele as a hobby). They only had minor issues which were easly corrected. The end result was a perfect ukulele each time. However, the last two were a mess! They should clean their spray nozzle so it doesn't spit, spattering the clear coat with pimples. It's supposed to atomize. Also, the headstock grain was not filled before the glossy piano black finish was applied to either ukulele! Very grainy looking! It should be smooth as glass like the previous ones! LOOKS LIKE HELL! The second one I received had been returned by someone else. It was missing the foam wrapping around the ukulele itself and just placed in the gig bag. It was also missing the papers and the wrench for removing the neck. Full of fingerprints! The previous shipping labels had literally been cut from the box. It looked like it came from a rummage sale! I have returned both! I hope no one else gets them! I might expect this to come from a third party seller but not from him yet direct! What's wrong with you Enya! Someone is definitely asleep at the wheel lately! Now, back to the former review... Enya Mad ukes are very nice for the money. I highly recommend them! I'm surprised I got this one as cheap as I did ($89.99) usually they cost much more. Around $130. However, there are a few little bugaboos to contend with that I haven't seen before in these ukuleles. The bridge was kind of chalky looking and smeared with clear finish of the ukulele. This at least shows that they glued on the bridge before they finished the ukulele. That's a good thing. It gives it better adhesion. This really isn't necessary because this is basically a no tension bridge on this ukulele, but still, it's nice to know that it's been glued properly. I was able to easily sand off the glue With some 400 grit sandpaper and apply a coat of tongue oil polymer to it to liven it up and give it a richer appearance. It looks perfect now! No problem, not a big deal. These things are common with many ukuleles these days. I actually sell them and go through each and everyone anyway before I sell them. I'm used to it, so it doesn't bother me to tend to these little odds and ends. The clear finish is very nice and flawless. The fret ends were actually smooth. The pearloid fret markers could be of a little bit better quality pearloid, but they are pretty good for markers that aren't just simple dots. The fretboard looked a little bit washed too with a bit of smudging. I cleaned it and livened it up with with a tung oil polymer blend that I use on wooden fretboards. It's a man-made fretboard but my tung oil blend worked quite well. Wipe on, buff off right away. You could use lemon oil on this particular material, but I would never recommend it on real wood. It dries wood out. One thing I've got to complain about is the fact that these no longer come as a kit including a strap, shaker, tuner, capo, extra strings and polishing cloth. I checked, and even the higher priced ones don't come with this stuff anymore! What the heck Enya? I feel a bit left out on the cold! The little adjustments I had to make only took about 20 minutes, if that. Much less attention was needed than other ukuleles I buy to resell locally. I would definitely recommend this ukulele for beginners as well as pros. It has a very sweet tone and projection. it's very easy to play thanks to the radius on the fretboard. It looks looks very classy with the classic open headstock and fancy fret markers. A definite buy! I will continue to keep these on hand for my customers. I would really like one for myself if I was just starting out, but I've got so many ukes! I can't keep everything, but If I had to have just one ukulele, I'd be very happy with one of these! Forgot to mention that the neck is bolt on. Very solid! If you can get one from Enya, you can swap out the neck for a different design/style if you want to change it up later on down the road. ... show more

  • Lovely, fun instrument
Size: 23 inch Color: Blue Concert Acoustic
I'm still a beginner when it comes to the ukulele, but I really love the instrument and play daily. I was looking for a solid mahogany concert – I already have a Kala tenor (KA-EBY-T) strung low-G and wanted another instrument with a different sound. Like lots of other folks, I came across Enya through YouTube reviews (Bernadette, Got A Ukulele, One Music School, etc.) and was intrigued. First of all, in terms of value, this is hard to beat. There are not many solid mahogany instruments available under $250, especially with a slotted headstock, high gloss finish, and a nice gig bag. I was also looking at instruments from Ohana, VTab, Sun Star, and Mainland, but this was the best value (at least on paper) by far. The instrument is beautiful and very nicely finished. It's very glossy and very blue. I was hesitant about getting an instrument that is such a "statement" (I would have bought it in brown or black if they were available via Prime), but it's so nice looking that I have no regrets. It is a much deeper blue in reality than it appears in the Amazon photos and the wood grain has a great shimmer to it. The stain is a little patchy inside the slots of the headstock on mine, but it's not very noticeable and I really have to nitpick to find any faults. It also gets high marks for playability. The action came nice and low, especially at the nut (although that can always be adjusted anyway), the non-gloss neck is easy to move around (if a little chunky), the frets are perfectly smooth, and the Richlite fingerboard is smooth and comfortable. The tuners also feel very good, with no stickiness or play. It's actually slightly heavier than I was expecting (mostly in the thicker neck and headstock, I think), but not in a way that impacts playability. The inclusion of strap buttons is appreciated. Overall, I really like how the instrument sounds. It has nice sustain and a clear, sweet tone. However, I would say that it's not a loud ukulele. This doesn't really bother me, since I usually play on my own. I don't think I've heard anyone else mention the volume of this model as low, so it may just be that my other uke is a lot louder – as I mentioned, I'm not an expert. My impression is that it's on the quiet side, though. I wouldn't let that dissuade someone from picking it up, but you should be aware. To sum up, the Enya MAD looks great, plays very well, sounds good, and is an excellent value for the money. If you're shopping in this price range – or even a bit higher – I would highly recommend it. ... show more

  • 💕 Absolute stunner, in both sound and appearance! 💕
Size: 23 inch Color: Blue Concert Acoustic
This is my 2nd uke... I purchased a cheaper one (a tenor) on sale about a month ago as my "starter" and it was fine - good enough to learn on and decide if I was serious enough to invest a bit more. But I kept going back to this BEAUTIFUL blue SOLID wood uke.. And the concert size sounded like a really fun variation to have. It definitely is a little tighter fit on the fretboard for my fingers, but I'm getting used to it. I have played banjo since I was a teen, so learning this instrument came very easy for me. From my first glance, taking it out of the bag, to tuning her up, to the first strum, I fell *totally* in love with this absolutely beautiful baby! 💕 The blue glossy finish is flawless and stunning... And the first time I played it, I almost fell out at the incredibly rich, full, pure tone. (I thought my cheap starter wasn't bad at all - until I heard and played this one!!) Beautiful, clear, strong sound that resonates amazingly, and sounds fabulous no matter what style I am playing - soft and sweet or lively and exuberant. She does it *all* VERY well! And I am inspired and motivated to practice and learn even more. In hindsight, I wish I would have just gotten this one to begin with, because the sound quality is just SO much better! I'm sure I would be even further in my playing if I had been hearing this instrument all along while practicing. Fantastic value for such a fine little uke! 💕 ... show more

  • Wonderful Ukelele! Looks beautiful and sounds great!
Size: 26 inch Color: Blue Tenor Acoustic
I just received this ukulele. It has such a rich, resonant sound and the blue gloss finish is lovely! Also, the case is well padded and looks expensive. This ukulele and gig bag are so much better than they need to be for the incredibly low price! I love playing it! Also, love the sustain! I'm very satisfied with this purchase! ... show more
