  • simple to use

I don't know much about charging batteries, but found myself with an alarm battery that was dying very quickly. When I realized it was labeled as rechargeable, I bought this charger and gave it a shot. To be honest, it was a bit intimidating at first. One battery said it was fully charged, even though my alarm system said it was dead. But when I moved to the second battery, it seemed to charge fine. This purchase has saved me from buying new, expensive batteries annually. ... show more

I would have never thought Energizer would have been the one but I tried most of the big brand trickle chargers and returned them all, This one works properly on my 65 Chevelle with a Optima battery.Keeps it peaked charged without over charging, cut off is 12.5 volts, then charges up to about 13.4 volts and then keeps 12.5 volts till I disconnect it ... show more

These chargers work well. I have one with the clips attached to use between batteries and one with the ring terminals installed on a battery that is dedicated to that battery.

  • Energizer ENC4A 4 amp charger
Size: 4 Amp
I am totally impressed with the Energizer 4.0 AMP Battery Charger. I am in the taxi business and my taxi's need to run 24 hours a day. As soon as one taxi's has even has a symptom of a battery problem and the alternator checks out I immediately change the battery. I had 3 used battery's that failed on me. And left them in storage. Battery Number 1. This battery was in storage for 7 years and I thought I would use it as a core deposit. The battery voltage was 6 to 7 volts (very low). I hooked up the Energizer 4amp charger and immediately started to charge at between 6 to 7 volts. It took about 27 hours to fully charge the battery. The only problem is that at around 24+ hours an E3 code appeared (overheat code but the Energizer 4.0 amp charger only felt warm). I simply unplugged the charger and waited 30 seconds and plugged it back in. The Energizer continued until the battery was fully charged. I also have a Ctek 3300 charger and if the battery voltage is too low I would have to initially charge it with my old Schumacher battery charger to bring it up a little. Then the Ctek could start to charge the battery. Battery Number 2 This second battery is new (6 months) but was weak and could even turn on the interior lights. Voltage on this battery was 10 volts. The Energizer 4 amp Charger again started charging with no problems. In about 20+ the battery was fully charged. Battery Number 3 This third battery was in storage hooked in the car and left that way for five years That car was to be used for spare parts.. When I touched the battery terminals no spark. I thought this battery was finished. By chance I connected it to the Energizer 4.0 amp charger and it started to charging the battery. At around 24+ hours an E3 code appeared but by simply unplugging and waiting 30 seconds the plugging it back in everything was fine. I do not know if the Energizer has a internal timer and if the charger will shut off after 24+ hours. The charger is not hot and at best lukewarm. On battery's number 1 and number 3, batteries were highly sulphated. These are the 9 steps which are: Stage 1 Diagnosis and Analysis Stage 2 Desulphation Stage 3 Pre-Charge Stage 4 Soft Start ….slow current charge Stage 5 Constant …..current charge Stage 6 Constant voltage until nearly full charge Stage 7 Resting Cutoff fully charge Stage 8 Reconditioning when fully charge but reaches 12.8 volts within 2 minutes. Charger will determine the status Stage 9. Restoring.... If battery falls below 12.8 volts. Charger will start stage 3 to stage 6 automatically. When I first saw this charger I took a chance in ordering the Energizer 4 amp model. I was very surprised. It is the best Battery Charger on the market today plus it is cheaper $29.95. (Ctek $69.00).I will buy the 8 amp model next. Update The Energizer ENC 4amp can be left connect to a load (like still hooked up to a car). If no load, my battery registered 12.5 volts, and reaches 14.75 volts with the Energizer Charger for recharging (out of the car). When the car is running with alternator charging without the Energizer Charger the reading is 14.0 volts (normal). When the Energizer Charger is plugged in with the engine running and alternator charging the voltage is 14.6 volts. The key to the success of this charger is that it senses the voltage first then will match to charging rate. Load or No-load. I charger is manufactured in China, The software/design must to have been USA designed. No way is this charger software, design and manufactured totally in China. It has leapfrogged the Ctek Chargers. ... show more

  • This one works as advertised.
Size: 2 Amp
I don,t like the auto voltage detection but it does seem to work. At 2 amps it is a good value. And supposedly has a 5 year warranty. Comes with clamp and ring connections. The plastic case is rather larger than I expected.
