  • Worth every penny if you enjoy hot coffee from the first sip to the last
Color: White Size: 14 Ounces
I was hesitant to spend this much on a coffee mug, but after using the Ember Mug 2 for several weeks, I can honestly say it’s one of those products that’s hard to live without once you’ve experienced it. The biggest advantage is that it doesn’t just keep your coffee “warm”—it keeps it at the exact temperature you prefer. Instead of taking a few sips, getting distracted, and coming back to lukewarm coffee, every sip tastes just as good as the first. That alone has completely changed my morning routine. The app is intuitive and easy to use. Pairing the mug took only a minute, and I love being able to set my preferred drinking temperature, create presets for different beverages, and receive a notification when my drink is ready. Once you have your favorite temperature dialed in, you rarely have to think about it again. The 14-ounce size is perfect for a generous cup of coffee or tea, and the 80-minute battery life is more than enough for my morning routine. When I’m working at my desk, I simply leave the mug on the included charging coaster, and it keeps my drink at the perfect temperature for as long as I need. It completely eliminates the need to microwave coffee halfway through the morning. I also appreciate how premium the mug feels. It has a clean, modern design that looks beautiful on my desk or kitchen counter, and the white finish gives it a sleek, minimalist appearance. Despite all of the technology packed inside, it still feels like drinking from a high-quality ceramic mug rather than a gadget. The mug is incredibly smart without being complicated. It automatically wakes up when it senses liquid, goes to sleep when it’s empty, and quietly does its job without requiring constant attention. Everything feels thoughtfully designed. If I had one piece of advice for prospective buyers, it’s to think of the Ember as a temperature-maintaining mug rather than a mug that quickly heats cold coffee. Pour your beverage in while it’s already hot, and the Ember keeps it at your ideal drinking temperature throughout your entire coffee break. That’s exactly what it’s designed to do, and it does it exceptionally well. Yes, it’s an investment, but if you’re someone who regularly reheats coffee, works at a desk, gets interrupted during the morning, or simply appreciates enjoying your beverage at the perfect temperature, it’s absolutely worth it. It has become one of my favorite everyday purchases and one that I use every single day. ... show more

  • Ember vs Nextmug vs warmer *update*
Color: Gray Size: 14 Ounces
*update* !! The mug still works awesome and I’m super happy with it…PLUS…I discovered that my yeti travel cover fits in it!!! This extends the 80 mins of heat to MOST OF THE DAY (at 120F) if you can get ahold of a travel lid then you’ll love it even more!!! I tried out Ember, Nextmug and a coffee cup warmer. I chose Ember and here's why: (For context I am a busy mom and I drink one cup of coffee per day. I tend to sip on that cup all morning long. I like to bring it around the house with me, often settling in one area for long periods (like to do a craft or do computer). I chose the Ember mug and here's why not the others: 1) The warmer- I couldn't bring the mug around the house with me, it had to always stay on the warmer. Also, as I drank the coffee down, it got hotter and hotter (less to heat). I had to keep turning the warmer down. Twice I forgot I left the warmer on and left the house and it stayed on all day. The warmer was also very hard to clean if you got a ring on it because it gets baked on. Literally I could not get the ring stain off. Lastly, the coffee tastes super gross after a few hours. Not sure why...but the heat from the bottom does something to it. 2) Nextmug - I didn't like the shape of the mug. It looks deep but actually half of the mug is the heating element so it's not deep. Mine kept shutting off randomly, like within 10 mins of setting it, maybe it was defective? It also seemed to get hotter as the liquid became less like the warmer did. 3) Ember - immediately I could see the temp on the app as soon as the liquid hit the cup, which I thought was NEAT! It turns its self on automatically when the coffee is put in it and goes to the last setting you set it at. It keeps it at that exact temperature regardless of how much is left in the cup (yay!). Thus it never overheats the coffee and the coffee stays delicious. I can take it all around the house and it is sturdy, looks cool and is nice and deep. It does shut off a lot sooner (from inactivity) than others, BUT it heats back up again surprisingly quick, so I'll take it. Others have voiced connectivity issues. I have an iphone14 pro and it hasn't had any trouble yet, but I just got it. For the record I was hoping I could control it via the app even when I wasn't home (like turn it on and off remotely) but it doesn't work that way. Since it's bluetooth and not wifi controlled you have to be near it for it to work. Good luck friends! ... show more

  • Best.
Had an Ember previously before they put ceramic lining inside. Loved it but bottom flaked off because of spoon. Purchased another brand and was very disappointed. Went back to Ember because of ceramic lining. Pricey but worth it. Highly recommend.

  • Almost RETURNED it, made 1 change, and now completely WORTH THE PRICE!
Color: White Size: 14 Ounces
First, the Ember Smart Mug does exactly what it says it will do. So it would not be fair to give it less than 5 stars. If you set the temp on your app to 145, it will keep your drink at 145. It is easy to use. Once you have paired it to your phone initially, you never have to think about it again. Just hand wash it, put it on the charging coaster, and it will ready the next day. BUT DOES IT SOLVE THE COLD COFFEE PROBLEM? Ember is expensive. For that price, it should ensure I never have cold coffee again. Unfortunately, that is not entirely true. Ember will keep your coffee hot, but only until the battery runs out. For the 14 oz mug, this takes around 1.5 hours when fully charged. Like most coffee drinkers, you might down the first cup in 15 minutes, the second over the next 1/2 hour, but that last cup may sit on your desk for an hour or more while you're busy. Then when you get a moment to take a sip; ugh, cold disgusting coffee. So the WHOLE story is that Ember will keep the first and 2nd cups piping hot, provided you finish them within the 1.5 hour battery life. But honestly, I didn't search for a $120+ coffee cup for the first 2 cups of the day. I searched for a way to keep that 3rd cup hot, for an hour or more if possible. My first attempt to work around the short battery life was to use a standard coffee cup for the first 2 cups, and then use Ember for the 3rd. This did help, and the 3rd cup stayed hot longer. But not long enough for me. And should I really have to jump through extra hoops for a coffee cup that costs over $120?? I didn't think so and had made up my mind to return it. DON'T GIVE UP, THERE IS HOPE! Thankfully, before giving up and sending Ember back, I searched on Ember's website for ways to extend the battery life. And there I found the HOLY GRAIL... EMBER can heat your coffee while sitting on the "newly redesigned charging coaster", WITHOUT using your battery! WHY didn't I find this sooner! All I had to do was move the charging coaster to my desk, instead of next to the coffee pot. Clouds parted, stars aligned, and now my 3rd cup will stay hot all day if I want. And I don't notice any difference with the coaster on my desk. It is so slim and sleek, I don't even notice it sitting in that spot that was reserved for my coffee cup anyway. FINALLY, HOT COFFEE ALL DAY! I would give Ember 6 starts if I could, for finally solving the cold coffee dilemma. Thank you Ember for such an amazing product. Might be worth HIGHLIGHTING the ability to keep your cup hot for hours provided the charging coaster is used. ... show more

  • Great mug, a LOT expensive, but definately works.
Color: Black Size: 14 Ounces
The original review was accurate, but now that I've had the mug for 6 months (Originally 3 star), I have to reduce its rating... The mug itself is great, works well, and does what it says. It keeps my drinks at the temperature I set it to. The reason I'm reducing the rating here for 2 reasons. 1) Trying to reach an actual person or something more intelligent than an automated help desk, is seeming to be nearly impossible. - To expand on this: I have been unable to find any contact information to report any issues I do have with the mug or software (I have no issues with the mug so far, but the software annoys me to no end). 2) The software for the mug is so far below par, that they might as well just have a digital display on the side to show the temp and just set it that way. - Let me expand on this: a) If you don't keep your mug paired, ie: carry it with you 100% of the time, anytime it isn't paired, it forgets its pairing, and you have to go through the pairing procedure again to reconnect it. My car is a 2014, and the BlueTooth in it remembers my phone when I start it up, but this mug cannot. b) There's no way to override the heating to ON, if the sensor doesn't trigger to say the mug isn't empty, it won't turn on, even in the software Bluetooth connection. Through some digging, it states that it determines if it's empty by the significant difference in temperature: The mug is cold, pour warm to hot fluid in it, and it detects the temp change and determines it's not empty. I understand this is probably a safety feature to prevent the mug from burning out, but there should be some way to turn it on when you put room temp liquid into a room temp mug. (I usually make a batch of tea, and if I don't finish it all in a day, I use it the next day, I shouldn't have to microwave the first cup just to get it hot enough for the mug to realize it's full.) So in summary: -The mug is absolutely great, so far it's held up fine, with no chips/scratches. Works great to keep temp set. -Software needs a LOT of work. The biggest issue is the Bluetooth connection/protocol. I shouldn't have to re-pair it every day just to connect to the mug to change it from Tea to coffee, or some other temp for a different drink. -Better contact forms, for when you can't resolve the problem via automated help. I'm hoping that by rating this at only 1 star, maybe I'll get a way to contact the company, or at least they'll read this review and take the issues under advisement. Maybe even make a suggestions/complaints form to get these issues noticed so they know what to work on. Until I see a way to contact a live person, even if it's just email, or something simple, I cannot rate this higher than a 1. IF I were having a real issue with this mug (like it not working) I'd be out the money it cost me to buy it. Original Review Below this line: *********************************** Keeps my tea at the temperature I set, making every sip enjoyable. Pros: Heats relatively fast Keeps Temp very well. Con's: It's for Right Handers, if you're left-handed, (or hold the mug in your left hand), the LED is on the back side where you can't see it (less of a problem while you're actually holding it), but if you set it down for grabbing with your left hand you can't see the LED. The software is a little glitchy. I tried setting it to Celsius for a little bit, then when I tried to switch it back to Fahrenheit, it wouldn't switch, I had to reset the app completely to default to get it back to Fahrenheit. Couldn't find a contact form for issues (like the above software glitch), or suggestions. ... show more

  • Keeps your drink warm, but slow to heat from room temperature.
Color: White Size: 14 Ounces
I love this mug, and the idea is great. However if you are not trying to keep an already hot drink warm, this isn't the right product for you. My intention was to warm a drink that has cooled, as well as to brew tea in it. I poured a room temperature bottle of water into it and turned it on, and it took an hour to heat the water to 145F. You also need to put a lid on it if you intend to heat a drink from room temperature as it loses a lot of heat from being open on top. You can brew tea in the cup, but in my opinion it heats the water too slow to be useful for that. Leaving 4 stars because it does work exactly as advertised, I just used it for something it really isn't designed for. ... show more

  • Best purchase in a long time
Color: Stainless Steel Size: 10 Ounces
I ordered the Ember and read the reviews after ordering. I was a little hesitant after reading some of the negative stuff in reviews. I don't usually write reviews, but I like this product so much, I thought I'd give my input to help others out. -I work from a home office and found that my coffee tea gets cold before I finish it because I take my time while working. -It is even better than I expected to have drinks stay at the temperature I want. With the app, you can adjust the heat to the way you like it. The last sip is as good as the first. -I didn't have any trouble setting up the cup and app. I followed some guy's advice in the reviews to make sure the cup is fully charged before setting up the app and followed the instructions. That worked great for me. -I haven't had any of the issues some seem to have had with the Bluetooth disconnecting (I use and iPhone mini). It's been very solid. Twice in the first two weeks, it seemed to not be heating though it said it was connected. I simply turned off the heater through the app and turned it on again both times and it worked fine. -There's some talk about not getting the charging stand wet. I am careful with that, making sure that I haven't sloshed and gotten the bottom of the cup wet. Not a big deal at all to pay attention to that. I don't walk around with normal mugs wet on the bottom anyway. -One review I read complained about the length of time the mug holds a charge. I generally, sit it on the charger by my workstation, so it's always charging. If you do that, no problem with charge. A few times I've taken the mug other places in the house. It easily goes 1.5 hours and my guess is it'd approach ~2 hours, maybe a bit more. That's plenty long for me. And I can recharge it and use again later. It's definitely no iPhone in terms of battery life, but works for what I do. If you expect it to keep something warm for 8 hours, I don't think it'll do that. -It's a very solid-feeling mug that's got a really nice feel. Good heft, some sort of traction rubber on the bottom so it stays put where you set it down. -I was hesitant reading some of the negative reviews relative to the price. I am 100% happy with this purchase. One of the best things I've gotten recently and makes a fun difference in my days. Highly recommend it. ... show more

  • This mug really does work. I love it. Just one slight drawback...
Color: Black Size: 10 Ounces
Hello fellow coffee/tea drinker! Let’s take a journey together about the Ember Mug 2 and see if this helps with your decision making process on wether this is worth your hard earned money! The Mug: The look/feel of this mug is premium. You’ll notice a little bit of weight that’s not too heavy and feels comfortable to hold. The outer layer is ceramic and feels smooth. Design overall is sleek and impressive. Setup/app: Once you download the Ember app on your phone, the setup process to pair my mug was very quick and easy. You’ll get to choose an RGB color for your mug and then you’ll get to play around with the home screen. The app is pretty easy to use. You can immediately scroll back and forth the temperature you’re comfortable with before you start a brew. You can swipe up to get additional presets for different types of coffee as well as tea. The app already has predetermined temps for you on black, green, and herbal tea which is nice. Settings is easy to click on and use for additional things like battery life and personalization. First Impressions after 2-3 uses: When you first brew a cup of coffee the app can tell how hot your coffee is which is pretty cool. When it starts to cool down, I was impressed that the mug kept my coffee at 140 degrees and stayed there. 30 min goes by and it’s still hot. The indicator lights go in and out when it’s heating up and stays a solid white when it’s done. To make it easy... it works very well. Tea drinkers: I also made some tea and worked just as well. I used the preset for 135 degrees for black tea and lowered it a few times to see if it adjusted at 130 and was happy to see it stays accurate to the temp you want in case you don’t like your tea too hot. Downsides: The only thing that I found an issue with, was the battery life. The Ember Mug 2 has 1.5 hours of battery while not on its stand and several times while walking around with the mug for 30-35 minutes the battery was reduced by almost half. Kind of disappointing but perhaps it’s a small issue that a firmware update can solve. Overall: I really like this mug. I think it’s a great purchase for any coffee/tea drinker that wants to have a consistent temperature at your desk, work, or on the go around the house. I never thought that the convenience of a mug keeping my coffee hot would matter all that much to me but it really does and I’m happy with the results. The battery life isn’t a huge issue since I would keep it on its stand most of the time, but something to think about if you’re moving around the house/apartment/work and you rely on that 1.5 hours of battery keeping your beverage hot. ... show more
